Philly Cheese Steak with extra mushrooms. Side fries
    Chris S.

It's hard to find a good cheese steak in Louisville. But Sam's delivered! It's a no-frills kinda place. Couple tables, counter to order and kitchen. Staff was top-notch, even joked with me about my order, which I appreciated. I just wish they were a little closer to main part of Louisville. (For those living east of downtown and the airport). But 100% yes, I'll be back for another cheesesteak!

The Chicago hot dogs are the best in town, easily.

There is no beating the sandwiches at Sam's. The Chicago hot dogs are the best you're going to get outside of Chicago itself. My husband fell in love with the Cheesesteak. I want to try the Buffalo Chicken version in the future but it's going to be hard to pry myself away from the Chicago dogs or Italian beef.

Fabulous customer service, great cheesesteaks and chicken strips. ($50) for two cheesesteaks, two drinks and a kids chicken strips & it's so dang delicious. Highly recommend!

Chicago Italian Beef (12") .... Delicious

Authentic Chicago Roast Beef! Everything was delicious, juicy and as ordered, It was sprinkled with gardiniera as ordered. The fries were crispy. The customer service was excellent. You could tell the owners really cared about the product they were putting out! I will definitely be back!! 10/10. It was delicious and definitely satisfied my Italian Roast Beef craving!!

This is what you call exceptional service. I called to verify I was chosing the right 4 Whole Wings flavor and a lady ensured me she would throw in an extra sauce on the side just to try out.I got the blue raspberry lemonade flavor and it is amazing . Lemon pepper wings are so perfect (lemon pepper not strong at all) and super fresh!!! I also got the Original Philly Cheesesteak . Eveything was a 10/10!!!!

I went with the jalapeño bacon burger, and it absolutely delivered. Juicy, flavorful, with just the right kick from the jalapeños without overpowering everything else. It came with tater tots that were crispy and did the job--nothing fancy, but definitely satisfying. We also split an appetizer of three meatballs, and honestly, those might've been the sleeper hit. Really well seasoned and cooked just right. My buddy ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and had zero complaints he cleaned his plate, which says enough. Overall, it's the kind of place you go for good, no nonsense food in a relaxed atmosphere. definitely somewhere I'd come back to when I'm craving a solid burger and a chill vibe.

Hoops is such a good bar/restaurant and with the owners recently taking over, I felt like that would be a plus but I was disappointed. The food was fine (I had blackened shrimp and some tater tots) but the service was totally disinterested. The waitress was definitely more interested in what I assume was a gentleman regular so we were definitely an afterthought. There is a difference between a dive bar and a filthy one and, unfortunately, O'Dollys was the latter with sticky floors and disgusting bathrooms. I'm not sure I'll be back.

There are also picnic tables out front. You get a faint whiff of the grill/smoker upon entering. Kylie was our bartender and she was fabulous - knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience. Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

Well I'd classify this place as a dive bar in the sense of the word. It's definitely not 4 star…read morenoted and maybe not the best exclusive signage and overall 4 star appeal; but it a diamond in the rough, persa. This place is quaint, nice location (on a corner ) decent seating, not a big outdoor dining area, the bar is long and has the memories of the old day saloon. Now the food; terribly good! Menu isn't extensive but good items and variety that will satisfy anyone's appetite. It was Father's Day but as soon as it opened they were quickly filled with patrons and people kept coming; even waiting to get in. The fries in duck fat were awesome. Since so many baskets of fries like this for a long time. The smoked wings are great, meaty and savory. I had the pork belly tacos; my only disappointment was you only get 2 per order. The fine combination of ingredients were splendid and the pork belly so tender. My wife had the bbq pork sandwich on pretzel bun. Very good tasting and this was with no bbq sauce on it. If you're in the area, do yourself a a favor and stop in. I can't wait to go back ( as we live in southern Indiana) so might be a bit but definitely want to try a few other items.

I ordered chicken and dumplings this time and we both marveled over how much it looked like homemade. She said "that looks like what grandma used to make!". The chicken and dumplings lived up to their appearance, they were delicious. Well seasoned, with nice chunks of chicken and big fluffy dumplings. My friend got fish and fries and ate every bite. Service was fast, friendly and accurate. With tax and tip my lunch was $20. It was a fairly generous portion as well. I have only good things to say and will definitely return.

This place is popular, so we were grateful to be able to get bar seating. Corned beef hash was sounding good to me that day, and they had a Cajun omelette special that my husband chose. We also got a cornbread buttermilk pancake to share. Unfortunately something came up and we couldn't eat our meal at the restaurant so we got it to go. I really liked the food, it was your typical comforting diner style meal. I thought it could've used a little more salt, but that wasn't a concern; I would rather it be under salted for those who prefer it that way. The locale is super cute and cozy, I loved the homey feel of it. The staff was amazing, really going above and beyond for us, helping us settle when we had to take off. I really am so excited to come back here with my husband and our baby to keep the family tradition going. Check this place out!
