The beef is thin-sliced, slow-roasted, and soaked in real au jus, piled on a roll that actually holds up when you get it dipped. The Chicago dog is done right too: all-beef, dragged through the garden with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, sport peppers, and celery salt -- no ketchup in sight, exactly how it should be. What really sets this place apart is Sam himself. He couldn't have been more cordial, and it's clear he genuinely cares about getting the details right instead of dumbing it down for a non-Chicago crowd. He was happy to talk shop with a fellow Chicagoan and went out of his way to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. That kind of pride and hospitality is rare, and it shows in every bite. As you enter it does give big city, there's a massive menu & so much to choose from but I only wanted one thing, their Italian beef! I didn't need to wait long, service is extremely quick & fresh! I loved my sub! they had mozzarella ontop that threw me off a bit but a nice add on, my fries were dusted with parm & they give a generous amount of everything which is nice, so you do get your money worth! I personally prefer extra dipped so I have a soggy bread, the flavor is just different versus the dry Italian. The meat is very thinly cut & the peppers were yummy & traditional with carrots, cauliflowers, onions. I'd def go back for sure! read more

Just had an awesome lunch at Sam's Chicago Grill off Cane Run Road in Louisville with my buddy, and it absolutely hit the spot. I ordered the 10inch Philly steak and cheese loaded with jalapeños, tomatoes, and lettuce, plus fries all for $18 and it was worth every penny. Everything was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The service was top-notch from start to finish quick, friendly, and really personable. The place was clean, welcoming, and I even enjoyed having wrestling on the TV while we ate, which made it feel even more like a spot I'd want to come back to. The owner is a great guy who really makes you feel at home. It's not just good food its a great overall experience. Definitely a go-to lunch spot for me now. First time trying an Italian beef and had it was the juices which I thought was going to minimal and got a completely soaked soggy bread. Was not sure how it was going to taste but I tried it since I had already purchased and asked for it that way. So I dug into it and thought it was ok. The meat was ok and the peppers added an ok flavor. It was difficult to eat as a sandwich because of the obvious overwhelming soaked. So I ate it with a fork to try to get some taste out of it and it did not taste as I had expected. Very disappointing sandwich but then again it was my fault because i asked for it that way. I did not finish the entire Italian beef because i had the medium which was way too much meat for me. So I paused and started on the Chicago dog which was delicious and a tasty contrast difference from the Italian beef. The Chicago dog was flavorful, crunchy and a good dog. The fries were hot crunchy and a good addition to the hot dog. Maybe next time I will try the Philly and not try to overwhelm myself with too much food or soak it in juice. Staff was top-notch, even joked with me about my order, which I appreciated. I just wish they were a little closer to main part of Louisville. (For those living east of downtown and the airport). There is no beating the sandwiches at Sam's. The Chicago hot dogs are the best you're going to get outside of Chicago itself. My husband fell in love with the Cheesesteak. Working in Louisville and found this little place a gem! Got the Chicago hot beef (no peppers as they only have hot) but was delicious and came with seasoned fries - brought a coworker the next day for lunch and tried the Cheeseburger and again love this place. Being from Chicago is certain ways we eat our hotdogs, it was on spot. Everything I have tasted so far has been good. That's why I keep going back. This is what you call exceptional service. I called to verify I was chosing the right 4 Whole Wings flavor and a lady ensured me she would throw in an extra sauce on the side just to try out.I got the blue raspberry lemonade flavor and it is amazing . Staff was friendly and smiles with everyone. Food was good and stayed hot until I got home with everyone's dinner.

Our table ordered Italian beef, chicken and catfish all with fries on the side. The service was wonderful, and the food was over the top good. Today was horrible. I always order my Italian Beef the same way. Dry(No juice), plain with the cheese and peppers on the side. The guy that made my order today got upset because he fucked up and put juice on my beef. Then he turned around and touched my food bare handed after that. I wanted to cancel my order and ask for a refund but I was hungry and me and my son wanted an Italian Beef. Thankfully he didn't touch my son's food so I just took the food and left. Hopefully I don't get sick from cross contamination due to the cook's lack of caring. read more

Great food here! I come here probably 8 times a month. I always order the same thing (buffalo philly cheesesteak with chicken and steak) I tell Sam to sprinkle some extra of THE BEST seasoning on my cheesesteak and fries. Sam owns the place and works in there. He's a great guy and all his employees. He usually gets the food out to you quick and he always has customers (Which means he's obviously doing something right). We had a great experience at Sam's Chicago Grill. They make everything themselves, and it was obvious in a great way. My husband and I enjoyed the smoked brisket, mac-n-cheese, sweet potato fries (I normally hate sweet potato fries!) and fried mushrooms. The bbq sauce is tasty - a Chicago style I have never had before. And the brisket was very different from the way we do it in KCMO, but it was very good! Sam and his staff were so friendly and pleasant. Food is cooked to order, so we were the only ones eating in (about 20-30 min for food to be ready).
