Giving one star because I have to in order to leave a review but this place gets 0 stars in my opinion. Disgusting and disappointing. Chicken and tater tots were overcooked, mashed potatoes taste instant, "dinner roll" was hard and DRY . Service SUCKS ! Had two waitresses and only one was doing something and even he couldn't keep up with waiting on tables. Took forever to even get my order and someone who walked in WAY after me got their food way before I was even asked what I wanted. One couple even left. The best thing we got was the cheese fries and even those weren't good. The place is like 80° inside. The food seems like it was cooked and sits until someone orders it. Sat and waited for an additional 10/15 minutes just to have to get up and ask for the check after the waiter walked past my table 4/5 times with no consideration of asking if we needed anything. I normally grab something to eat on my way to work. Decided to call in my order to be picked up. This was my first time of going to this establishment. And I was NOT disappointed!! Lindsay's kitchen is a hidden Lousiville gem that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long located on cane run road in Lousiville Kentucky. Came run is a long and busy road however this location is on a secondary cane run road off the main strip that turns into the greenbelt expressway. Tucked away in an isolate area next to large LG&E commercial plant. The place is very large and spacious and has a cabin home country cooking vibe and decor. Almost like a Cracker Barrel meets a Gatlinburg pancake house. On our visit it was me the wife and our two youngest daughters. We was here for breakfast and had very friendly and fast service. The decor here is very homey and we loved the lantern lights string across the ceilings here. We decided to share an order of biscuits and gravy and it was extremely tasty. The babies got eggs, sausage and toast of the kids menu and they both devoured it so the breakfast is baby approved. The breakfast meals are numbered depending how you order. We both got a combo. My wife got the country fried steak with eggs and biscuits and she said it was very good. I went with the two egg, two bacon and two pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly and had really good flavor. I personally was a big fan of the bacon. Very good flavor. The problem is I called in my order well in advance and had to wait at the counter for about 10 minutes and a lady came in and ordered food that actually had to be cooked, mine didn't. We decided to take a drive......Watterson expressway to Dixie Hwy, to Lower Hunters Trace, to Cane Run Road and there Lindsay was!! A nice, spacious dining room.. can turn into one heck of an Elvis nite, when the 50% or better returns. Please go over their menu. It's extensive and on a 6p Sunday evening, only out of cabbage!!! The 4 of us ordered liver and onions, omelet, country fried chicken and meatloaf. Sorry to say, it was all soooo delicious, we didn't even stop to take photos!! And the tomato gravy for the meatloaf.....delish for those of us that like ketchup!! And the cornbread, pancake style......perfect!! And the huge menu....and the fair prices!!! First time at Lindsay's Kitchen. We took a chance based on the ratings but I'm here to tell you we were not disappointed!! Upon entering the restaurant, do you notice the large establishment. They let you know that you can sit anywhere. We chose to sit close to the entrance. Upon us sitting, the waitress, brought the menus and ask what we would like to drink. We each ordered a cup of coffee. Then Tiffany came to ask us our order. I ordered the links, eggs, over easy, and tots. Pop's ordered strawberry French toast with sausage, and an order of Blueberry Pancakes. I can only speak for myself, the links were good, however they would have been great if they were hot. I also enjoyed your tots. What I really enjoy was the ambience, and the service we received is a good place to relax, look at the artwork, and the whole place felt so cozy. This place got very positive reviews on Louisville Take Out. To be fair we were immediately seated and had prompt and friendly service. The prices were reasonable. We both ordered the same breakfast. My eggs were a little bit runny for medium fried. The bacon was fine however the pancakes although large were somewhat chewy. Now my wife's were cooked the way she likes and the orange juice was quite large. The ham was fine but the pancakes were chewy. She couldn't finish them. We will reserve judgement until we go back to try lunch or dinner. read more

What a fantastic breakfast stop, actually lunch and dinner too Lindsay's is in the building once occupied as Little Daves, but most would never guess that. It is on Cane Run Rd in front of an LGE generating facility. Take Lower Hunters till it ends and you can't miss It's eclectic inside, very comfortable. My breakfast mate said to him, it felt like a merger of Jesse's and Jerry's, I agree I ordered the Hot Brown and it was delicious! My friend ordered a Western omelette and it looked perfect and he said it was delicious Breakfast and burgers, served all day. Service was great, plus the owner came by to check on everything. I have been looking for an alternative to Cracker Barrel for country cooking. I had extremely high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews I read before going so I decided to take my elderly mother there after a medical appointment for some good old homestyle country cooking. I was highly disappointed instead. First off, the bad. The menu prices posted online and on Yelp are outdated. I ordered a vegetable plate and a grilled cheese sandwich. The Yelp prices show their vegetable plate as 4 side items for $6.99 which I thought was a very good price. When I got there, I found out that the vegetable plate is now $8.49 for only 3 side items. My 3 side items were french fries, macaroni and tomatoes, and fried apples. The french fries were clearly frozen crinkle-cut fries, not fresh-cut fries, and were barely cooked through. I don't know if the cook was in a hurry and pulled them early or the oil hadn't heated properly before cooking them. They were cooked only to the color of uncooked macaroni instead of being cooked til they were golden brown and crispy. Since they were crinkle fries, they should have had extra crispness when done. Nope. The other two side dishes were okay, but nothing special. The portion sizes were small. I'm guessing maybe a half cup each. The grilled cheese sandwich was $2.99 and was just a standard grilled cheese sandwich made with generic white sandwich bread. I selected cornbread as the included bread with my meal. I was expecting a nice wedge of cast iron cooked cornbread, or at least a nice square cake of cornbread. What I got instead was a round fried cornmeal cake (think pancake) the approximate diameter of a large coffee cup, cut in half, and stacked together. The coffee ($2.99) tasted like it was made with water with extra chlorine in it using the cheapest coffee they could find. It was tolerable, but just barely. My mother ordered the bone-in fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans ($13.99). The chicken portions were large. She took one bite of the mashed potatoes and left the rest because they "tasted bad". She ate the green beans without stating if they were good or bad. She had no comment on her Sierra Mist drink that she drank because they didn't have 7-up ($2.29). Now the good. The food did arrive quickly. The place was immaculately clean. The waitresses were all friendly and made sure to check to see if we needed drink refills. I did have to take my own check to the bar to pay as I waited patiently for several minutes after we finished eating and nobody showed up to take my money even though there were at least 2 waitresses and only 3 tables with people eating. The total for these two rather disappointing dinners including drinks including a $5 tip came to $37.59. The service was fine, but the quality and portion sizes of the food simply wasn't worth the price, so I do not see myself ever going back. Which is a shame. read more

Maybe it was an off-day. I usually enjoy breakfast and lunch here, but not today. Ordered the fried pork chop breakfast, subbed grits for the potatoes. First, the coffee was great, hot, strong, just like I like it. The Texas toast was done well, nicely buttered, my eggs nicely scrambled. The pork chop was fried beyond recognition, dry, tough, so hard to cut, let alone chew, although seasoned nicely. The grits, um .... while buttery where lumpy and no seasoning, just unacceptable. Like, just NO. Service was okay, staff was consistently busy, but not attentive and not very friendly. The cashier, took my check without a "hello", finished the transaction and mumbled something like, "have a good day", as an after thought. My server never checked if I wanted more coffee, if I was enjoying my meal, nothing. It was constantly busy, but it seemed other folks garnered more attention. I don't want to imagine why, but ... I felt invisible. Will I be back, not sure. They do have a pretty local consistent crowd, maybe that's why I felt invisible. read more

Went to Lindsay's tonight for dinner. So disappointing. Coleslaw had no dressing, it was just shredded cabbage. Baked potato cold, cabbage cold, mashed potatoes cold,dinner rolls cold. The only thing that was hot was the fried food, which tasted like it was all battered in the same flour (no seasoning). Waitress never came back to check on us. Won't be returning. read more

For locals, I'm sure this is a great little joint, since there is practically nothing else in the area. For the rest of humanity, it has two big things going for it: - If you're bicycling the Louisville Loop, Sandi's Kitchen is smack dab in between two excellent stretches of the trail, both running on levee crests. (Yep, there's a bike rack in front. If you haven't explored these sections of the Loop, you should.) - Breakfast food served all day. Always a big plus. I can't claim to be a regular, but my limited experience tells me you'll get good service, passable biscuits, decent pancakes, good hash browns(!). If their Facebook posts are to believed, mac and cheese is in the "veggie of the day" rotation. Bathroom facades painted to look like outhouses. "Contemporary Country" a favorite background music. Ladies and gents, you've stumbled into semi-rural middle America. Calorie-rich, big signs saying "There's Always Time for Coffee". Not a culinary destination, but a prime example why location matters. This will continue to be a favorite stopping point for me as long as I bike out in this direction. This is your typical diner food. We visited on a Saturday. Not too busy when we came in. Service was prompt and food was ok. When we came in it was smoky like something was burnt in the kitchen. Visited twice this weekend and both times were awesome. Both times I got the bbq burger which both times were delicious. Good size burger that comes with fries but can also be subbed for chips or onion rings. Second time got the same but also ordered a whole biscuits and gravy. Breakfast is served all day and the gravy is the same that they put on their country fried steak and potatoes. Sandi's Kitchen is a hidden gem. I visited with two friends that highly recommended Sandi's by saying, "there isn't anything on the menu that we don't like. I ordered the country fried steak with cornbread, green beans and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Everything was very tasty and the portion size was amazing! The hostess could have been more attentive with refills and picking up the check, considering we were the only people dining at the time. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This was our second time giving this restaurant a chance and the disappointment was greater than the first time. As a owner of a establishment I have never seen so much unprofessionalism in my life from the owner herself. "You hope we are "hangry" "never welcomed back" well as a person of a second chance that you blew you don't ever have to worry about that again. Ordered our food and then couldn't find it, couldn't even ring us out properly. Charging us for items we didn't even order. I don't recommend this place to anyone if you are on a clock for lunch. Or if your looking for a professional atmosphere this ain't it. The owner herself couldn't even apologize for mistakes they made. Let me explain further in depth as the owner likes to argue with people who just so happen to look like me...I didn't want to take it there but let's be honest anyone else who has had a terrible experience at this establishment she is very apologetic, but if you look like me...an argument is what you will receive. We called our food in at 10:33am told the owner on the phone because I know it was her we spoke to that we are coming in for lunch at 11am I gave her my name. We arrive to the restaurant, we sit down because like our other co workers you give one name they come out catering to them and their food is always ready when they arrive so we were told to do the same and we did. so we thought the same...our server was helpful and nice, 11:25 rolls by no food...we see some food up front on the counter and assume it's ours and it was just packed to go- totally fine. Another cashier is trying to ring us out. She can't find the ticket. She gave us another orders ticket. We tell her that isn't our food, she is trying to find our order so we can pay (pay for food we never received yet) here comes the owner...attitude central. If the owner was nicer then a nicer customer she would've received but she didn't. All the unnecessary comments and talking about us once we left was very uncalled for, because yes we walked out. We walked out because our order couldn't be found and the amount of rudeness from the owner herself was disgusting. We hear her yell"did they eat" lol would we be upset if we ate? Lol we never received our food. I posted this same short detailed review on Facebook and the owner wanted to lie and argue on there with me as soon as I posted the review. Normally when you do crappy service to people you kind of expect a bad review and I think she was totally expecting it with the amount of quickness she responded. I'm very disappointed because we gave this place a second chance and it was just as bad as the first time. I think what is traumatic from this whole experience is that the owner is trying to justify her actions and being argumentative but you never know who knows who and word of mouth...as I didn't argue or be rude with her and her staff because she seems to forget there was 3 of us I handle the situation differently and move in silence. It's unfortunate because nowadays accountability and being apologetic when your in the wrong is hard to come by and typically restaurants like that won't last long. But if I can share my story on all platforms and spread the word I will so this traumatic situation doesn't happen to the next. read more
