I previously reported that it was not possible to order the fresh ahi poke from their seafood counter either by instacart or with Sam's Curbside or Delivery service. This remains true. Today I made a point of first going to "Member Services" to explain the issue. They said "just order through the app", and I promptly advised them none of the fresh seafood poke and related items were available. The representative went online, scrolled a bit, and said "gee, you are right". He then directed me over to the "Curbside Pickup" staging area to seek assistance. I go over to the area, and they have no desk or counter area, I just had to get the attention of one of the workers loading carts. She was kind enough to listen to my issue, and admitted she had no idea, but she would speak with her manager while I waited. When she returned, she had me use my smartphone to scan a QR code, which took me to a survey. She said I could complete that and management would review it and be able to respond. It did ask for name, phone, membership number, and email, so I BETTER get some response other than more promotional messaging... I don't really understand this. You can order the $5 Rotisserie chicken, their chicken salad made from leftover rotisserie chicken, fresh roasts and chops, and plenty of other fresh items. Why not Poke? It is a very long walk from the middle of the parking lot into the store, then all the way to the back of the store to get to the counter with the fresh poke and other items. My knees aren't what they used to be, and there are days I can't leave the house. I used to go to Sam's at least once a month, usually getting Poke. Today was the first time I've gone since December, which is sad. Their Spicy Ahi Poke really is the best on the island for my money, but unless they make it available for Delivery or at least Curbside Pickup, I may have had my last taste of it today. This is for the curbside pick up only. I just got home (3:45 on a Saturday). If I had gone into the store and grabbed my own stuff and used the app to pay and run out, it would've been about 10 minutes faster. That's not much in terms of time spent but you have to realize I ordered the stuff (5 items as a trial run) around 9 this morning and had to wait till my pickup time at 3. I could see that if you have mobility issues it would be wonderful. It's not something I will do again until I get to that age... Also remember you have to go through the dreaded traffic all the way across the parking lot to the farthest area for pickup. Normally I park right by the entrance cause I'd rather walk a couple minutes then wait for people to back out of the mislined parking spaces for more. Then when you get to your reserved space, you have to turn off your AC so your fumes don't kill everyone. So now you have to roll down your windows and sweat while inhaling the passing cars fumes. Waited 20 minutes for my stuff to come out of the store. It's only mid-May and it's pretty hot in that garage. Needless to say, unless you have a real need for curbside service, just go in the store. In my fit of anger and irritation , I planned to reduce the stars to Sam/;s Keeaumoku to 1 but then I realized my irritation is not with Sam's directly but the customers, patrons and drivers of the establishment. Here is my story: Preface by saying the Covid Pandemic brought changes to our life which eventually became the current standard of living. Starting with the digital ordering followed by pick up and/or delivery of of your order.... Parking stalls were assigned for those who have curbside pick up orders. I've been using this service for some time now mainly for the convenience and the mental thought that I am not buying "stuff" I don't necessarily need or use (You know how that goes right? I think its referred to as impulse purchasing) My experience relates to the RUDE INCONSIDERATE SELFISH Patrons/Customers of Sam's Club who VIOLATE the curbside pick up parking stalls. There are 13 curbside pick up stalls at the Keeaumoku location of which today! 6 of the 13 and 1 Loading Zone area was taken by people who simply drove up, parking and left their vehicles to physically shop in the store. SHAME ON YOU HONOLULU SHOPPERS! WHERE IS YOUR ALOHA? If not for privacy rules, I'd post the photos of ALL the illegal parkers but it becomes a moot point as only I will be more or less satisfied that I got it off my mind. Sam's!!! Haven't written an update here in awhile... I like that they open early for Plus members at 8am. Still a little irritated though since before the world was ending with covid, they used to open at 7am for Plus members...much more convenient. The other thing that sucks is whenever you come before they open and wait in line for the doors to open, there is just no cross ventilation in that parking structure so it's always so stifling hot there. Always a lot of good stuff with Sam's though, I still think their rotisserie chickens are superior to Costco's. While Sam's birds are smaller, they taste way better. It's whatever they use in their rub that really puts them ahead. I also notice they've been upping their liquor game. This last time I came they had some really good bourbon options, right up my alley. They've upped their meat game over the last few years as well but I think Costco still has a big edge on them. Not a member of Sam's club since there isn't one on Kauai. But I went with my friend while visiting Oahu. I like that there is a big box alternative to Costco. Love the scan and go app that makes skipping the checkout lines so much easier and faster. HOWEVER, I do not like the scan and go option for their food court. I ended up going to the line which I thought was formed out of people not understanding there is a scan and go feature to pick up food and there is an ordering line. Well turns out the 8 people waiting in line were for the scan and go and the one person ordering was for the actual check out. Seems ridiculous to have a process that is meant to be easier and faster, a lot slower. Also, the people working behind the counter always seem like they hate their job. I hope Sam's can figure out a way to get it going faster or more efficient that an order comes in and it's placed somewhere for people to just pick up. read more

Since the get-go, we've found that it's helpful to have membership at both warehouse clubs, as both have pros and cons. For example, in our situation, Sam's Club provides these benefits over Costco: * Increased snack food selection. * Packaging of items appear smaller, thereby appealing to smaller households. * Offering of icee floats. * Covered parking for customers. * Longer open hours. * Curbside pickup allows for faster checkout. * Scan and go app allows for faster checkout. * Reward discounts can be applied directly onto the bill transaction; whereas, Costco's reward points are cumulatively added as part of the rebate amount issued to the member at a specific time to be redeemed in the warehouse club. However, Costco provides these benefits over Sam's Club: * No one answers the phone at Sam's Club during opening hours if you have any questions. * Sam's Club lacks sufficient staff in Customer Service in addressing customer issues (sometimes there is only one staff person trying to resolve a customer issue, which can take as long as it can until it's resolved) or on the floor addressing customer questions. * Sam's Club Customer Service could not resolve a problem with our membership card; nor could they call the national office to assist even if we were there and said that we had to call them directly on my own. * Costco's inventory has more higher-quality, higher-end products, esp in electronics, liquor, and organic foods. * Costco offers more generous return policies. * We don't always receive the "coupon" book in the mail; Sam's Club Customer Service staff said he hadn't received his either. And there are subtle differences between the two. For example, Costco appears more convenient, as it is only about 1 1/2 miles from our home; however, whenever we are in town, Sam's Club is convenient, as it is right in the middle of town. And while both carry similar inventory, we are satisfied with getting either one, especially when one is sold out but available in the other warehouse club. Hence, we tend to use both warehouse clubs, as both provide us with various options. Hours of operation are daily 9a to 8p; Sam's Club Plus (upgraded membership tier) members early shopping hours from 8a to 9a daily. Free covered parking available in private lot shared with other businesses. There is nothing in black and white that specifies that one is better than the other, as it all depends on your specific situation. Shopping at Sam's Club saves me time, mostly because I use curbside pickup. Even when I go into the store it's quick though, thanks to their scan n' go app feature. I just wanted to talk about their curbside pickup. I love how convenient it is. I place my order a day or two before and just wait until I get notification that it's ready. Over the past several years, I've only had a few disappointing experiences, like where they picked rotten produce. If you want them fresh & perfect, you have to go in and pick 'em yourself. I've edited to add that a few times, they took forever (45-60min) to bring my order out. Not really complaining because I know it gets busy, but those particular times it was just me and one or two other cars waiting. Twice, I've gone in to get it myself. They have also missed an item or two, but by accident. They've recently added more pickup stalls. Lately it's been good with 5-10 min wait times. They used to have 2 people running it. I'm guessing they added more employees to make it work efficiently. Curbside Pickup is always free for Plus members. For Club members, it's free on eligible items totaling $50 or more pre-tax (otherwise, there's a $4 fee per order). read more

Just recently I was online and was placing an order to be shipped to me. As I went to check out and place my order, I get an alert informing me all my items are not available for free shipping, as plus members are supposed to get free shipping with orders of $50.00 or more, (when it was free before on all orders). I understand the cost of doing business has increased, but reducing benefits is not the way to keep customer loyalty. I used to praise Sam's club for the free shipping benefit which made my life easier and convenient. I would give 5 stars, and recommend membership but now with this new change, I am struggling to even give one star. Very disappointed. I live in Hawaii. Pleasant and efficient product return experience at Sam's club! Purchased different sized shorts for my brother for his birthday, and went in to return what didn't fit. At the entrance, a staff member put a small sticker to indicate a return. Immediately to the left of the entrance is the customer service desk. Didn't bring the receipt (can't recall if I used the scan & go app or not), but it didn't matter, the customer service agent quickly found my purchase, verified the price, and handed me the credit receipt. Shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii... Located above Walmart on Keeaumoku Street, Sam's Club welcomes its members daily! I'm not a member, so I followed my sister here. She showed her membership card at the door - after we parked on the second floor of the Walmart parking structure. We entered from the side street and drove up the ramp to go directly to the front door of Sam's Club. Sam's Club seemed less crowded than Costco... maybe because we beat the after work customers? Even the lines to pay weren't that bad! We went up and down most aisles. My sister wanted chips that were packaged in snack sizes. I wanted Oat Milk, but only Almond Milk was available. Pass... I also got some mushroom chips... interesting... a tiny little bit of sweetness with a smidgen of savory on crunchy mushrooms (3 types). When I saw Kansai Yamato mochi, I bought a tray for a potluck tomorrow. Yummy! The produce department seemed a little small. No Apple Bananas to be found... We did pass through the clothing area, the pharmacy, fresh flowers, orchid plants, and the café. We'll be back! read more

So last night when I was heading out to the gym to lift weights, I decided to take out my rod, and upon firing up the car........my battery crapped out! Ai-yai-yai!!! What to do? Head back to Sam's Club automotive center of course! Luckily for me, I kept my paperwork from when I purchased my car battery back in February 2022, and I could clearly see that there was a 3 year warranty/guarantee for my car battery. I removed the car battery from my rod this morning and headed over to Sam's Club automotive center at 10:00 AM. When I walked into the automotive center with my car battery & paperwork, there was absolutely no one around. I saw a few workers in the service bay area working on cars, as they were putting on new tires, but there was absolutely nobody manning the automotive store counter area. After waiting for about 5 to 10 minutes, I decided to walk on the store floor to ask a clerk if anyone was working at the automotive store counter? Of course, the clerk told me that there was someone......... After walking back to the automotive counter area, a clerk finally came out (I think his name was Anthony) from the service bay area. From there, everything else went smoothly..........I told Anthony that I had bought a car battery from them back in February 2022 and that my battery had died. Gave him my paperwork with the receipt from Feb. 2022, and he promptly went to the shelf & grabbed me a new car battery. I signed some new paperwork for the new warranty car battery, and out the door I went! Service here is good (once you can get service), and I get what my Yelp buddy - Bruddah Craig T. said about service at Sam's Club automotive center. Lol, as Bruddah Craig was spot on, about what he said about service. I guess now-a-dayz it's hard to find workers, and I could clearly see that this location appears to be very short-handed (as far as help goes). I don't blame the workers, as they are doing the best that they can, with the resources they have at the time. Best bet is to show a little patience, and I'm sure they will get to you when they can. I am so HAPPY that I got my car battery! Anthony even asked me if I wanted the battery installed to my rod? I replied back, with a - "Hell No", because I don't want to wait, while I can do a simple battery installation myself in less than 5 minutes! Lol! read more

I've been to the Sams Club cafe/bakery probably a hundred times now, so it's finally deserving of a review. The Kalua pork plate is a little salty for us, but the pizza is almost a once a week dinner grab at this point. Get the 4 meat option. A little over $2 after taxes out the door, and it's consistently easy. The $2 value speaks for itself. Unless it's 5pm, the line is usually short and I've never waited more than ten minutes. In years past, I only came to Sam's Club for shopping. But now the cafe is a required stop on the way out if I'm here. Give the pizza a shot! read more

I've been liking Sam's Club more than that other place in Iwilei mainly because it's less crowded. I normally do my shopping in the early evenings on a weekday so it's easy to find parking. Yes, the brand name is different and they are a few cents more expensive but it's fine. I can stock up on veggies and fruits for the week as well as some meat and seafood. I've been here on weekends too and the parking lot is a traffic jam but checkout inside is still quick and people are not clogging up the aisles or banging you with their shopping cart. I would recommend self-checkout or using "scan and go" in the Sam's Club app during the weekend. The food court line is always long and the mobile app ordering doesn't show all the items available. I've had the pizza and kalua pig before and the food is just okay; nothing fancy but it is cheap. read more
