I very much like the Sam's Club in Oxnard, except they have products one week, and the same product isn't available the next week? I thought that maybe it was a "supply chain" problem, but it is Grape Juice, and other common related products. Other than that, they are great, their employee's are friendly and very willing to help. I live 60 miles round trip from the closest Sam's and/or Walmart, so it is very disappointing when I cannot find the products I like on the shelves, do not make weekly runs, not on my schedule. I always seem to forget this Sam's Club location is here...must be a sign. First off this is the strangest location for a Sam's Club. It is in the Wal-Mart shopping center on Rose but it is way in the back corner pushed up against the freeway. Sounds like it would be pretty prominent but its tucked away almost under the freeway. Its like they HAD to put the Sam's Club by Wal-Mart and this was the only choice. Either that or they really wanted a presence by the local Costco. I went in here shopping for electronics today...I really expected it would have a selection like Costco just a little bit of a slight difference between the two stores. I thought I was just basically seeing what other models that they had and I would be able to make a decision between the two stores. I was so disappointed...they really only had a few models of what I was looking for and no one at all to help me. On the way out the door there was an associate standing at the door who looked pissed to be there and she looked straight at us as we left and did not say a word. This review is based on one bite of a hot dog. ---------- Let's say you and your local 4-year old are fixing hot dogs. You have some in the steamer that are already cooked, and you have some cold ones just out of a package in the fridge. Let's say someone orders a hot dog and you ask the 4-year old to put it in the bun. Do you think your 4-year old would know to take a warm one instead of a still ice cold one??? I am guessing most of you said yes. Congratulations your 4-year old is already overqualified to work at Sam's Club. As I took my first (and last) bite and realized the dog was still unheated, I took a sip of soda and got up to exchange it. I heard the woman at the next table say hers was ice cold too, so we went up together to take it back. The idiot behind the counter shrugged and said "Oh she must have given you the raw ones", but didn't end that sentence with anything along the lines of "let me replace that" "ooooh I am so sorry" or even "wow that has never happened before". Even though she was in charge. The woman ahead of me asked for a replacement dog and that seemed to fluster her. I decided to ask for a refund, and she directed me to go to the membership counter. Excuse me, you expect me to double back halfway across the store to spend at least ten minutes, perhaps 30 on a different line so I can get $1.63 from someone who probably isn't going to believe me when I tell them that the snack bar doesn't cook the hot dogs. It is a sign advertising for a help wanted position in their meat department for the rotisserie chicken. It is only in Spanish. There was no additional English advertising for the same position. This is definitely prejudicial and racist and indicating that they only want to hire Hispanic workers. Sam's has most things I want but not all. Sometimes I go into my store and find the meat department depleted....

I like that fact that they are never as busy as Costco and they have a self checkout line that usually has no one in it and is quick and convenient when you only have a few items. I like to get the fresh cut up pineapple that you can't find in the regular grocery store. I love the pharmacy where I get my generic drugs for $8. You can reorder the prescriptions by auto phone and they text you when it's ready. The customer service is not that great. I am a business member and the store opens at 7 Monday through Saturday and it is so convenient to go early before the crowds. The parking lot is large and parking is good except on busy days but much better than Costco. read more

I am super upset I know we are going through hard times but Sam's has dropped the ball on me. I had an online order placed since last week (the first day available to pick it up was today March 17th) when my mom was picking it up they told her they had ran out of waters so they only had the rest of my order. Mind you I had paid for the waters and expected for them to be put aside for my order since last week. All I need is water for my weekly life I'm not tryin to stack up like all the other people. I was very impressed with the service that I received from a young man named Michael Radonit outside. He helped my wife and I unload and load our items into our car and noticed that one of our water bottles were leaking, he took the time to go into the store and and make the exchange for us and bring it back to the car for us, great job Michael beyond the call of duty! The cellphone department at Sam's Club is absolutely A+ Gus spent over two hours helping me upgrade my phone. My service provider was being especially difficult and he was so patient and helpful. Dwayne wasn't even on the clock any more and he also made phone calls and stayed on hold with people to help me get my upgrade. Angie was super nice and sweet. she gave me a cookie! I really appreciated all of their help and would recommend any one going to them for cell phone needs. read more

I just joined this club, it's horrible, the customer service is rude no one offers help ! I came to buy a mattress and literally no one near to help out ! My kids went to get food in food court and the young lady was rude making a miserable face, like she was annoyed at customers shopping ! I didn't buy mattress it was torn sadly I can't buy a $700 dollar mattress with it being torn ! This is sad I really wanted to shop here but no one greets or asks if we need help . Sam's tire department is the worst. I'm never going back there again. I bought 4 tires for my midsize SUV. A few days later, I noticed a drop in pressure in one of the tires. Went back to Sam's to fill it up and told them I had a slow leak. They said if it was a leak, the tire would be flat. A few months later I went back again to tell them I have to keep putting air in the tire every 3-4 weeks. The manager said they can only replace it if it's flat. Nonexistent customer service. A nice club store, with great prices if you buy in bulk. However, like most stores of its kind (including Costco), it is easy to run up your shopping bill because of limited selection of items, the lack of generic/low cost products, the large quantities you're forced to buy, etc. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. However, there is a Sam's Club worker there who is loud and obnoxious, bossing others around and makes a scene when she does not get her way. What an awful way to treat other employees in front of members! I would say that Costco is the better of the two stores in Oxnard, CA, since it provides higher-quality products, merchandise, and services that Sams does not. However, Sam's Club memberships are considerably lower. So consider what you really want from either store, and decide which store you want to patronize. read more

Today I went to redeem a groupon for a membership nobody in customer service knew what to do 4 girls at the counter laughing and joking while I sit here on a utube video trying to figure things out. Finally after 30 minutes I got upset and THEN they called a supervisor. 1hour later they are comping me a membership because the woman had me redeem the Groupon which makes it void. They sold my phone number to spam calls. I have never had a problem with spam since only my family and friends have it. I keep a land line for all others. The list of all the customers that signed up for the Samsung 8. Was left out on the desk in the middle of the store where anyone could see it. I told the manager about it ( Luis ) and he just shrugged. I took a picture of the list as proof. The prices across the store have gotten so high. That we really have to be smart about shopping here. We can beat a lot of prices at retail markets. They move products to get you to wonder around store so you will see more. When they run out of things you have on your list. Even with only 2 people in our house we still find it a much better deal to shop here for most things. The store is well kept and the shelves are always stocked. I believe that the membership is definitely worth it, and the prices seem much better than your neighborhood supermarkets. Im not a huge fan of the pile of boxes you must sort thru to pack your groceries in, but I think its other customers who make the mess. read more

Just a terrible customer service. I bought rotisserie chicken, to serve to my residents at work for dinner. When i cut it and serve it, inside is red, still not cooked through. Sams club is defiantly a great store especially when you need to purchase bulks of snacks/drinks/cereal/yogurt,granola bars etc... Also if you have to do your shopping with the kids when the snacks are out to taste it makes it a little more fun and easier, it really helps me holds off until we get home. Sam's Club Tire Department BEWARE!!!! If I can rate this review for Sam's Club in Oxnard, I would give the Tire Dept a Big Fat "0"! I will explain what happened today (10Aug2014) while it's still fresh in my mind. My husband & I needed to buy 2 new tires. There was no one at the Tire Dept when we got to the service counter. Few minutes later, 1 African American employee with a strong accent showed up, but already was helping someone else. So, we waited & waited for our turn with one woman behind us who showed up later. The African American employee who finally helped us was trying to order the tires for us, but I could tell he was having trouble with the user computer software. So, he walked back in the work area where they change tires & we waited for him to come back. The confusion was when he came back, he mumbled something to the other employee who showed up later. Once again the African American employee left us without telling us the status of our order & whether he was still helping us! What really got me upset, was when the woman behind me asked the 2nd employee for help, she knew I was there first & knew my transaction is not completed! I hate it when people cut in front of me! We waited our turn for so long & was left wondering if that African American employee gave up on us. No more Communication from him! Then another employee came up to us & asked us if we had been helped. I told her "No" So, she said she will get the manager. By the time the manager showed up, I was fuming mad! I told her like a broken record what happened. I was so fed up with the lousy NO Customer service, that I told my husband that I do NOT want the tires ordered anymore. I told the manager we gave them our business in the past and will tell all my friends my bad experience from that Tire Dept. What a waste of my precious time! If you want someone to waste your 30+ minutes of valuable time, go to the Sam's Club Tire Dept. This day Sam's Club lost over $300+ for new tires from us. We will no longer renew our club membership! Afterwards, we went to Costco & got 100% Better Service!!! The tires we needed were in stock & installed less than 90 minutes. "Ray" who helped us in Costco Tire dept. was more competent than those 2 employees at Sam's Club Tire Dept.! Ha! So, go to Costco for your tire needs & you'll be glad you did. read more

I'm very surprised that the reviews are so low.. I joined SAMs about 4 mo ago & gave up my Costco membership.. So nice to drive right up & get a parking spot, every day... Lines are usually shorter than Costco's too.... I love the self service lines, although many people can't read that there is a limit of 10 & they show up with 40 items.. I recent switched my prescriptions that aren't covered by insurance to SAMs club pharmacy.. The prices are fantastic.. My husband & I found customer service to be excellent... We bought a 55" smart tv there & had it delivered & set up... We were 150% satisfied. So far I haven't found anything about the Oxnard SAMs club to complain about... I'm not a Walmart shopper & was pleasantly surprised to find no similarities between the two stores... I have no plans to switch back over to Costco.. read more

I am actually A-OK with this place... perhaps only because my mother and I share a membership here. . . . or because at times I get irritated by the crowds of docile cows at the other end of the freeway. I am a costco member for life, but when faced with a 40 minute line for my liquor fix. . . I will cross to the dark side. Sams Club is owned by Walmart. I hate Walmart, but I will go into its "upper-scale-non-syrup-smelling-store" known as Sams Club. Somethings are nice, some things are not. I just enjoy the smaller lines. read more

I like Sam's Club because it is a place of bulk buys but at the same time the way their food is package is still family size compared to costco. For example their gallon milk doesn't come packaged into two's. but you can still buy it if you only want one. The grapes aren't as big which I like if you were to buy it just for your family and not a party and it's still cheaper than elsewhere. Sam's Club and Costco always seems to switch off brand name items. For example they would carry Eggo Waffles at Costco once and at Sam's they will have a different brand. Majority are about the same but little things like that sucks when you want something specific. Currently Sam's has the Eggo Waffles fyi. One plus thing, is their I believe 5-6 self checkout lanes! Which is faster and if you know how to use it and if you're not buying too much and all the barcodes are in tact...then go on the fast lane and self checkout your stuff! I recently tried returning a necklace that I purchased from samsclub.com to the Sam's Club store in Oxnard, CA. I was told that Sam's Club stores no longer accept returns from the Sam's Club website. When I brought up the samsclub.com website and showed the manager that it clearly states that online purchases can be returned to Sam's Club stores, I was told that the website had just not been updated. Figuring I'd just wasted more than an hour (roundtrip) and at least $10 in gas getting to the Oxnard store, I went out to my car and called the Sam's Club near my house in AZ. "Sure, bring it in. We gladly accept online purchase returns." Thinking that maybe it was a California policy not to accept returns from the online site, I called the next 3 closest Sam's Club stores to my place in Thousand Oaks (Santa Clarita, Gardenia & Torrance). All 3 said that they accept returns of online purchases. Can someone please tell me why the Sam's Club in Oxnard refuses to accept returns from Sam's Club's own online store? read more

Then when you try and call to ask a question to figure something out they wanna keep you on hold until you call back and are placed back on hold. 3 calls and a total of 30 minutes on hold and the last time I called I just hung up right when they put me on hold. I enrolled online. The greeter/membership card checker greeted me and smiled and directed me to the Membership people. I met Paz, who came running up to the counter to wait on the next person in line. I was very fortunate to have her help me. She was fast and efficient and I had my membership card and all my questions answered within a few minutes. Then I went shopping. Every stocker greeted me with a big smile and offers for help. I have been a Sam's Club member since the day they opened their doors. Typically I find their prices much better than their competitors who start with a "COST," you know what and who I mean. Food is much better priced for sure. Customer service is very good. The only thing that baffles me is why they get some really good stuff in and its there for months, customers get use to it and "POOF" its gone! My family and friends were in LOVE with the Kit-Kat Ice Cream Cones, and now they have been gone for over two months, and replaced with stuff with nuts on it.....DUH! Some people don't like nuts or are allergic to them. It's just stuff like this that bums me out, just like when Sam's carried wide Sketcher shoes, no more wide! The cart thing....I have had 2 rotator cuff surgeries per arm, 10 abdominal surgeries, and on disability with a Service Dog because of it.
