Yesterday I self-scanned probably $700 worth of merchandise. I had exactly 4 items left in my cart when the scanner went down. The woman came over and said I needed to use a different register. I asked her if I needed to re-scan everything I had already scanned. She said yes. I walked out. Today I drove almost 2 hours (4 hours round trip) to go to Costco to get the same items I was planning on buying yesterday. About a month ago I got there at exactly 8 AM to shop (not $700 that time). As I was leaving the guy ahead of me at the check-out probably did have $700 worth of merchandise. The woman at the door seemed to be checking EVERY item in his cart against his register slip. I went around and headed for the door. She yelled at me that I needed to stop and have my cart checked. A second employee also yelled the same thing. I turned and told them both that I wasn't an employee of theirs and that if they didn't trust me then they needed to hire more people on the registers. Absolutely the worst shopping experiences of my 77 years. I can only hope Costco opens a store closer to home. read more

Tires service is slow and torturous. Seems like there are technicians here but, wow! At least I can shop...

The cafeteria only.. Used the scan and go feature to avoid having to stand in line and waited 20 minutes and wait it 20. Finally asked them why they're taking everyone that came after me and they told me it was because they were out. Then I have to go to customer service for a refund and stand in line again.. 30 minutes wasted. read more

This sams clubs is not set up like every other sams club I've ever been in. This one is crazy confusing. The construction at the front entrance is cumbersome. The lines weren't too terrible. Just a lot of people confused and not using the open cash regesters I was able to squeeze right through and use an empty self checkout. read more

This is a 5-star recognition for Bobby Ostrom of the optics department of the Roanoke Sam's Club store. This is because of a 1-star performance by Sam's Club and their AllState insurer that made it almost impossible to file a claim after a mistake on my phone. There were phone waits of 30+ and 40+ without answers. The online help suggested that I repeat what had just failed. Sheer madness. Bobby called Allstate and refused to give up despite apparent challenges. After maybe 45 minutes on the phone, the claim was filed. He was sympathetic, kept me informed, and worked with both my iPhone and computer to find a solution. Multiple input challenges and despite maybe 5 frustrating hours, I walked away with the "impossible" challenge resolved. Give Bobby a raise, his service is exceptional. read more

First of all, they need checkers to check you out, and if they're gonna block me in after I check out, they need more people for that. There's no need to try and hold me hostage after I paid. This store is not very clean. It is not arranged like other Sam's I've been in. The selections are quite limited, except for junk food. They could do a commercial "We got the junk." One of the worst Sam's I've been in. And the line for them to check your receipt being all the way across in front of registers and past self checkouts is beyond sad. Not to mention waiting in line before that to checkout even at self checkouts. And yes I know they have cheaper gas but I don't see how it's worth it if I have to wait in long lines at gas pumps and put up with the slowest pumps I've ever seen. I want to recognize the young woman who made my brownie sundae Tuesday 7/19/2022. She used more care and attention to detail on my little cup of frozen yogurt and brownie pieces than I have seen at sit down restaurants charging $6 -8 for essentially the same thing. Working with the public can be difficult, especially lately, so I just wanted her to know someone appreciated her work. read more

Smells bad most of the time but they generally have what I need and the lines aren't bad. I like Publix fruit better, but Sam's has it all.

This store is huge. There's a line all way to eye exam door! Limiting ppl. I'm going to BJ's. They can think past their nose!

One is the slowest places in the world. I feel like the DMV is quicker than this place! Nothing since to work right or go smoothly. When my wife signed up for our membership it took her two trips to get a card and it took me three separate trips to get mine! I'm also disappointed that something I buy this week is likely to not be here in two weeks. I never know what I'll be able to buy since things come and go so much. They only saving grace is that the prices are usually a good deal. But I guess they should be for paying for the annual membership. read more

They have everything in the world but the self check out lines are always malfunctioning and there's never enough people to get the system fixed. Don't know if we will renew if they don't fix this. Makes checking out with an infant even more of a pain. read more

Sams clubs are all the same across the country. I stopped in for two items as gifts for relatives I am visiting. Set up the same as the one I go to in LA but not nearly as crowded. If you need anything in bulk, check out Sams. read more

Good size, not busy, no long lines at cashier, self checkout... not too many sample stations on weekends.

I honestly have anxiety even considering shopping here after they replaced 90% of the employees at checkout with scan and go machines. Now they have 2 employees per checkout line, and members on one side, cart and employees on the other. This makes checking out with infants and or children in your cart challenging. Now 2 or 3 checkouts open tops, and customers lining up all over the place making it hard to even walk through the front of the store. I pay $100 for Plus membership and consistently spent $300+ on groceries and refuse to scan my own groceries or wait in line 20 minutes plus any longer. I have complained to managers 3 times, and I have been encouraged to use scan and go app etc, condescended to, and told regardless of how it looks, they're not replacing employees with machines. The cafe area here is consistently a disgusting mess, and very understaffed. Sam's (like Walmart) treats their employees and customers like crap and it shows. It's finally reached the point where it's not worth the headache and membership fee to save a couple bucks It wouldn't surprise me if a large number of Sam's members migrate to the new BJ's! I would have left a long time ago if not for the amazing prices on cheese!!! read more

The pizza is greasy and under cooked most the time, the Chicken Sandwich eh well I wont go there. Used to have great Hot Dogs though that has also seemed to have went away. Shop there YES, eat there NO...... not to mention I am not sure their holding times and temperatures are correct. read more

The prices are only ok. It takes too long to have them review your receipt before I can get out the door. I really do enjoy their snacks (hot dogs, pizza, ice cream). The parking lot is always crazy, and their gas prices are not always better than the regular gas station. They have a lot of room for improvement. read more

They never have anyone working and the employees are so ignorant they tell you that they are out of stock when they have plenty above but there is only one register open with twenty of us waiting, I called the customer service line and they hung up on me. I called two more times and they finally sent another person to open a register but only took the people from the back and then took two random people in line who had maybe four items over to the member service line. Not once did they ever apologize . If I did not have to come here I wouldn't I cannot wait for a Costco to open up. Their service is way better. read more

One of the worst places to shop or even to work. The managers are rude, uninformed and care more about driving a forklift then working with his so called HR personnel with new hires. The management at this store needs some regrouping or maybe corporate should come to the store and just observe to get a feel for what really goes on in one of their stores. I was only hired and worked a minute but I found all kinds of stuff going on that didn't sit right with me and I wouldn't give them my business again, I would rather go down the street to BJ's Warehouse. One of the most idiotic thing that I observed is they hire big strong males to stand at the front and check for Sam's cards while placing older woman to work themselves ragged to get online orders picked and some or most orders required 10 cases of water to be put on a flat bed and pushed to the front for customers, I mean what sense does that make, why are they even so worried about customers coming into the store, have they not heard of scanners if they have one at the entrance all customers could scan their cards and if there were a problem one staff could help, it really defeats the purpose to have people actually stand at the front asking to see Sam's cards from customers. I mean by now all Sam's customers know they have to have their card in order to check out so why would someone come into the front entrance without a card! Orientation does not consist of anything other than getting schedules with no information on payroll or computer sign in information etc, I am still owed for the 2 days I worked there. read more

I am working as a cashier at Sam's Club Latham,NY. and one of the members once told me that Sam's Club, Roanoke VA is one of the best places when it comes to customer service and associates are friendly. I have learned from my own experience that a quality service to members and serving their needs beyond expectation is a key to a more productive and harmonious relationship between members and associates. after all,the number one is always the members. Planning to move to VA and hoping to meet nice members and associates of the club. I hope I will be lucky enough to work there,too. read more
