Sam's Deli has the best omelettes, classic NYC' chopt cheese, and sandwiches in the West Village. It is THE best take-out deli in my West Village neighborhood ... the go-to place from r everyone in our neighborhood... such nice people!

Don't waste your time or money. Cons: Cash only. Multiple insects flying around. Doesn't taste good. Pros: People were kind. Food was inexpensive. Ordered a roast beef sandwich. No bueno. Go somewhere else.

Went in here for the first time tonight 10 minutes before closing. Young gentleman at the front was very polite and nice! For the roasted turkey sandwich with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes-- was very good and a good price! They use Boar Heads meat which is the best! Other items are overpriced, but that's what you get for a local convenient store in West Village. Very pleased with the sandwiches and employees!

It's not a sit down place, it's a mini deli. You get your sandwich and leave. The workers are nice and will make small talk. For groceries such as milk, they are more expensive than the grocery store, but their sandwiches are delicious! Although I can no longer eat them, I wish I could. The roast beef with munster cheese, tomato, and lettuce was the best! The bread is delicious and the meat, cheese and add ons are fresh. They are also speedy with your order. As for tea (I have not had their coffee), it's just Lipton so it's common. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick lunch to eat in a park, at home, or at work.

Really nice guys, always good food. Best local deli/market around. I'd say I snag a sandwich there at least once a week

The works was awesome, love the coleslaw and the sauce. The salad was simple but effective to be filling. The pastrami was yummy just a bit too fatty for me. After trying this sandwich I definitely want to come back for a club. The waffle was delish. Bacon tasted a bit old and wasn't as crunchy as it can be. Fruit cocktail was a nice refreshing touch to cut the heaviness. Our waitress was nice but I would've appreciated if she touched the table a tad bit more. We had to flag her down for a ginger ale refill. But otherwise she was a delight. Ambiance was alright! Just a reliable diner vibe. Nothing crazy, just right.

We had spent some time walking around looking for a place to eat, but everywhere else required reservations. Even though we didn't have one, he got us seated quickly and was so personal and welcoming. We were especially grateful because it was cold out and we were with my one-year-old daughter. We were also on a bit of a time crunch, and the entire staff did an amazing job getting us in and out fast without feeling rushed. As for the food--it was fantastic. We had the Southern Chicken Sandwich and the Nutella French Toast, which was some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this spot for the great service and even better food! Huge thank you to the staff!!!

We ducked here to grab some nourishment before I became to hangry. Ordering takes place at the counter then grab a table. I had a 1/2 bowl of their "famous chicken soup" and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. Had good flavor and was enough to warm me up on this brisk morning. My niece did a bagel, and after trying all week she finally got one exactly how she wanted it made. We ate and chilled for a bit, no plans for the day other than making it to the airport to go home. Was able to people watch and catch up without feeling rushed to leave. Saw locals come through, so you know it is a place worth stopping. The staff were nice and even apologized for not being able to give me the soup I wanted in a half order. Though things can often get overlooked and passed by in the hustle and bustle of the city...stop in and relax while you grab a bite to eat.

Date of visit: April 14, 2026…read more Our friend wanted to go to a real New York deli during her first trip to the city and this is the one in the vicinity of Times Square and our evening show that was the highest rated according to my fellow Yelpers, but I am not quite sure why based on our experience. Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
