A sweet little cafe and the perfect spot for a simple al fresco lunch in the West Village. We stopped in for a weekday meal, and after ordering from their friendly and attentive cashier, enjoyed our food on a sidewalk table. The chai latte, on the other hand, was fine but not noteworthy. Prices were also just okay, but probably on par with what's to be expected in West Village. What really sold me was the ambiance and service though. I've passed by this place so many times and I'm always tempted to go in but never really any time. I've noticed they have people coming in and out, so must be good? They have various pastries including gluten free brownies and coffees/teas. The sandwiches are pretty cool, I found out they have gluten free bread and turkey bacon which is awesome! I ended up getting a blt on gluten free bread to go. When I opened up my sandwich, the bread was burnt and the bread was small. I think they charge too much for the gf bread, considering how small it was and that it was most likely udis bread. I used to live on Charles St., and retroactive regret has consumed my psyche for not patronizing this West Village gem when I was a neighbor. I love the prosciutto panini #2 the most. The toasted ciabatta is filled with thinly sliced prosciutto, pecorino, tomato, and arugula, with a slick drizzle of good olive oil. It's rare to find pecorino in sandwiches, and based on the successful execution found in this panini, I'm surprised more places don't include it. Have come here a couple of times. A small space that is nice and warm when it's cold outside. Food is solid. I've had the panini prosciutto #1, a panini with goat cheese and sun dried tomato, a omelet and the pastry that is half chocolate on top. For drink I've tried the machiatto and a glass of wine. I've never had anything bad here. The prosciutto panini could have been hotter, the mozzarella was not melted and the prosciutto was cold. But everything tasted good. It is cozy though, can be tough to find a seat at times though I never had trouble finding three seats close together the two times I came. But we came in at odd hours. Visited my friend, Bruce this weekend. Always enjoy this jewel of the West Village. This trip, I indulged in their new "Turmeric Latte" with requested almond milk. Uber delicious, creamy. Aside from the scrumptious taste, the amount of turmeric helped my inflammation. I neglected to bring my supplements and fingers would have normally been achy. Perfect little neighborhood gem for sandwiches, breakfast, coffee, etc. The turkey sandwich is the kind you get from a local bakery -- great bread, stacked with yummy tomatoes, great ratio of toppings/condiments. From the well-mannered and friendly staff, to the Chocolate Almond Croissant, and the ambiance of the cafe, it's quite an ideal cafe. Seems like they garner good business, but it's not overwhelmingly busy to where there are extremely long lines or places to dine. Their bathroom is tiny though, but just glad they had one. The croissant was one of the bests I've had and I liked their coffee, though I only drink black. They have a pretty good selection on their menu and outside seating. The croissant had the right amount of crispiness, butteryness, and softness. I like the little window nook seats at the cafe. It's very relaxing and there are so many pillows.
