I stopped in to get the lunch special today. I ordered a steak and cheese sub and fries with a canned drink. The prices have gone up on the lunch special though it is now 14 dollars. The inside has been renovated. This is the first time I have been in here for a long time. The staff was friendly and took my order quickly. The fries are good and the sub is tasty. this place used to be a go-to when we needed a quick dinner delivered. the last three times we've ordered for delivery our order has been cancelled at the last minute after telling us it was being prepared for over an hour. while we've received a refund, it's very frustrating thinking your meal will be on the way and then having to turn around and order something else. will not be ordering from here again. incredibly disappointed and frustrated. read more

I have been ordering sams Pizza plank rd since before it burned down, and I have never felt the need to write a review such as this one for ANY restaurant ever! I ordered a steak with x cheese and marina sauce, no onions, no lettuce, no mayo, no tomato no NOTHING but cheese, steak, sauce, in their words a "steak parmesan". it was delivered 9:15 pm I go to eat this sandwich at 11:30 pm since its friday night ,movie night for us. Imagine my surprise to find, onions, lettuce tomato, mushrooms and in the middle of it ham!!??? what kind of steak sandwich has ham on it. I had my boyfriend call Sams a few minutes ago to speak to them, and tell them my experience, I didn't want a free replacement for the mess they sent me, I just wanted to tell them what happened, because if they don't know, it could just happen again, the manager angrily talked over me, arguing with me about what I got, he said the cook has been there 15 years and he could not have have made that mistake! i was shocked at how he spoke to my boyfriend, and then to me when I was handed the phone. There are too many italian food restaurants to get take out from now, to put up with this sort of treatment. I was a regular customer of this particular Sam's on Route 3 also known as pipe Road and then they had the fire and closed down for a very long time. Everyone was very sad to see them go and of course very excited to see them come back after an extended period. This place is run by a wonderful family who take pride in what they do at almost every level you can possibly imagine and then probably some that you can't. I always get the cheese stay here it's actually probably the best cheesesteak in Fredericksburg lunch customize it and I say this being from the Delaware Valley and the Philadelphia cheesesteaks and that I grew up on and the Grinders of the area like the grinders at Louie's in Rehoboth Beach Delaware. These guys hold their own on the cheesesteaks against the best that there are and they are better than the Capriotti's down the street that I grew up with. This place is always clean and neat and organized I would invite anybody to take a visit to their store just to look around it's very very well kept and the people who work there are all very cordial and nice to talk to. My wife loves to get the crab cakes there and the chicken I don't eat those much maybe even never at all but my wife loves them. So as you can tell I've been a regular customer of theirs for more than a decade maybe more than two and I will continue to be a regular customer of a cheesesteaker two a week. read more

Went to the Sam's on Route 1 near the school board for the first time in a few years. Love the new updates but with the same lovely waitress and great food with enough to have leftovers from the lunch special. Definitely will be back! read more

We happened by Sam's for lunch. We ordered a pizza & a sub. OH MY GOSH! The pizza was AMAZING!!! This is coming from a guy who thinks pizza is pizza.. some good, some not so good. At Sam's, it tastes homemade because the dough is sooooo fresh & soft. I don't usually eat the crust, but I ate all of the crust! It's like the difference between store bought bread & fresh baked bread at a bakery. It was delicious & so was the sub. They don't have tables at this location but did have a counter by the window with a couple seats. Probably most just get take out, but I HIGhLY recommend this location of Sam's to all! Sooo worth it! My wife and I were neither looking nor expecting much when we came in here. We just wanted to grab a decent sandwich and salad...needless to say we got way more than we anticipated. The waitress was very nice and friendly. My wife got the Italian sub and I got a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I thought it was interesting when the menu said it came with anchovies, if desired. I love anchovies so I got them. We couldn't believe the quality of the food when it came. My grilled chicken was falling-apart tender. Very flavorful without being overly salted. It was the best grilled chicken Caesar salad I've ever had (I know, not saying much, but as I said, we weren't expecting much). When we spoke to the waitress/hostess after, she said that Sam's is a chain but each individual owner can cook/run the kitchen how they see fit. This one does not use frozen food. They cook everything fresh. The chicken used on my salad is marinated over night before it is cooked fresh for each salad. We will most certainly be back and we will try something a little more challenging for them. GO HERE! It's worth it! read more

As of this writing, I'm not sure whose picture is up for Sam's Pizza, but it's definitely not the fabled Sam of Sam's. The picture looks more like the doppelganger of Stalin or Super Mario? (maybe). Aside from the random picture, Sam's Pizza is a pretty good local chain in Fredericksburg. There's nothing too spectacular about Sam's and is rather a generic chain, but the food is quite good especially the pizzas. If you're looking to save money and still want to eat out or grab pizzas for the football game, Sam's is the way to go. The prices listed for the pizzas themselves are actually for two pizzas for the price of one. You definitely get the most out of your money. If you're not in the mood for pizzas, Sam's offers a good selection of other items that go from American classics like the cheeseburger to Mediterranean staple foods like souvlaki and shawarma sandwiches. read more

Well, let me start by saying we usually order from Danny's, but they aren't open on Sunday's anymore so any who.. We decided to order from Sam's. We have ordered from there before without any problem. Well, not tonight...from the girl that I placed my order with to the food...awful. The girl was rude and didn't seem to try to hide her displeasure at what sounded like just having to be at work. We ordered a Greek salad, the veal parm dinner, and the seafood platter. We will start with the salad (and the side salads that came with the meals) was nothing but all of the white iceberg lettuce and pieces of the core! Almost inedible. Plus side: the Italian dressing was good with a bit of spice to it. The veal parm was a crap ton of noodles with VERY LITTLE sauce and melted waxy(the only word I can think to describe it) cheese, with a strange flat piece of meat on top. My husband ate maybe an 1/8th of the helping and had to just throw it away. The seafood platter was just gross. The fries were cold and hard, the 3 shrimp were all breading and flat as a pancake and wayyy over cooked. The crab cake was just plain burned but the inside had this weird rubbery/gooey texture that didn't really taste anything like crab? The fish fillet, although not burned, was flat as a pancake as well, with little to no flavor. I didn't get my coleslaw either. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the delivery driver was so nice and personable. A nice guy with a really long beard, didn't think to get his name. Craving delivery??? Do yourself a favor and order from somewhere else. Primo is good, but Danny's is the bomb. read more

We had the pepperoni pizza. I was impressed to hear from the owner that they get fresh ingredients everyday and make everything in-house daily. The pizza was basic, but good and not too greasy. I'd definitely eat it again and try more of their food. read more

The Pizza Is AMAZING however, Im not sure what the hiring manager is thinking! The employees there are not well educated about the place of employment at all. I talked to a guy on the phone and mentioned a coupon before the order, his responce "i dont understand what the coupon is, im not familiar with them" I could have told him ANY price to be taken off the total. These guys, out of the whole chain, are just ok. The salads need more tops, the pizza is really good, and the gyros are probably the best in the chain for some reason. It's still a good place to eat even if they haven't yet mastered making some of the main items. read more

We always order from this location because we love the steak bomb sub and most of the time the pizza but the last two times they haven't put enough sauce. We called only this time because it happened two times in a row, and the man lady on the phone was awesome, but the cook whom they put me on the phone with was very defensive and argumentative, and didn't even offer an apology. read more

So we have ordered many times from Sam's and usually have a good experience with good food. Last night we ordered and the delivery driver (who by the way is fabulous) forgot an item. I called the store when I realized and I was told the driver could bring the missing item back or I could be credited. I stated I still wanted my food. She said the driver would be back shortly and then my salad would be brought out. I waited and waited. Approximately 40 minutes elapsed without any delivery. So I called the store and it was offered I speak with the manager. I agreed to that but he did not get on the phone. The person who originally answered said "the manager said the driver left but I don't know when he will get to your house because you may be the last of his deliveries." I then asked why I couldn't speak with the manager directly and she stated "Paul" didn't want to speak with me. Well that sealed the deal for me. I told her if "Paul" cared about customer service he'd call back. I never received a call. What I did receive is my salad from a wonderful, profusely apologetic delivery driver. In my opinion from what I experienced last night Paul is a jerk. No more calling Sam's. read more
