Sub-par food that was barely edible. Service was slow and the waitress was icy. If you like eating at the Olive Garden, this place is several steps down, and you will probably be disappointed. If you are a Chef Boyardee type, maybe it will be to your liking. I wish we had something better to say about this place, but it was an absolutely horrendous meal. Pretty great pizza for take out. Just don't make the mistake of eating there! So many loud and unruly kids running around- it's a loud and unpleasant ambiance. I know this is obviously not the staff's fault but there was garbage and food chunks all over the floor from a particularly obnoxious table next to us- some people really have no manners. read more

I've given a review for Sams before, I go here frequently it's my 14 year old daughters favorite restaurant, I like to say pizza pasta salad, they are all quite good. My favorite is the salads, there are over 10 different salads and all of them are super fresh with the most amazing homemade dressings, grilled shrimp or grilled chicken can be added to any of them. The pizza menu is extensive and built with years of expertise. I'm a linguine and white clam sauce person and there version is the best I've ever had. Hamptons summer the place is jumping, no reservations. Nice bar you can eat and drink at with two of the best bartenders in the Hamptons. This place has character, it's been in business over 70 years , and it's also inexpensive which is rare in the Hamptons. One thing it can be a little noisy early in the evening with families with young children be prepared, it settles down as the evening progresses. read more

I love the pizza here! It's a great little restaurant if your looking for a cozy and yummy meal. Their pizzas are thin and crunchy, which I like. They have many pizza options, as well as typical Italian meals. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because they could put more love into the restaurant. Some of the decor and furniture are a bit tattered and the place could use a little bit of a face lift. I haven't been there in a while (over a year), so they may have spruced the place up a bit while I was away. But in general this is a nice place to go for dinner. read more

Honestly I cannot day enough about this family friendly place! The pizza's are awesome and the salads are great too! We like to go at 5 when they open to get a seat! This old standby has great pizza, salads, beer, and often excellent specials like lobster rolls. Sam's is a real local place, family friendly and unpretentious. Often crowded especially after movies during the summer, but bigger than it looks so seating is often faster than you would expect. read more

Sat right down on a busy Saturday night. Very old school 60's style bar and restaurant that was clean, family friendly, warm and inviting. Got the pizza, and wife got Chicken Parm and both were very good. Will return! read more

The food here is really good. It's a casual dine. They charge for individual soda drinks which irks me at any restaurant. The service is a bit slow. We waited for our check for about 20 minutes after we finished eating. read more

Great pizza. If you're in the mood, you don't need to think about it long, this is your place. Great price for great food. Greek salad had fresh and delicious ingredients. The TNT pizza was a cosmo of pizzas and delicious. A large was more than enough for two with leftovers for tomorrow. Only holding back a five star because it wasn't "unforgettable," yet I still have no regrets and easily recommend it. If you don't want to over think dinner, go to Sam's. read more

Received raw chicken Parmesan. Asked the return and they gave us a hard time. Wouldn't take it off the bill. Will not return.

The key here is to understand where you are going. It probably hasn't had one remodel since the 70's which is crazy talk. It's dark inside and somewhat dingy. I have eaten in the place once only to say 100 times, never again, never again. Too many kids, yelling and running around. Parents weren't helping the situation at all. I only had pizza, which is fine, and it was good but I have to question whether or not the place is clean. To me when a place is so dark it only means they are covering up filth. I've spoken with other friends about it and they agree that it's not the cleanest place. I also don't understand how it opens at 5pm....they would probably do well during the day since there isn't any other good pizza in town. May not ever go back. Too bad, so sad. read more

one of the tastiest pizzas i've ever had, and the tiramisu was great as well. I wasn't even hungry when I went to Sam's just because of the good reviews and I ended up eating a pizza and ordering the same for takeout as well. Must go if you are in East Hampton ! read more

I am not a Pink Elephant-Hampton type fellow so I appreciate a restaurant that is down-to-earth with great food. The only con I can think of is that they don't take reservations and are extremely popular. One of the MANY pros I can point out though is that they make some of the BEST pizzas I have ever enjoyed. 4 stars for the terrific thin crust pizza made the same way since Sam opened the place in the late 40s. Nothing else is notable. Not inexpensive but its a far cry from a dive. Decent service, good beer, no reservations and always busy in season. Unfortunately, Sams descendants who still own the building have it for sale. read more

I have to say that Sam's was an Oasis in the desert of East Hampton...what a great little place to grab Lunch and a Beer....I had a fabulous Lunch Special of one of the absolute best Lobster Rolls that I've ever had, served with Cole Slaw and a nice dill pickle spear for the LOW LOW price of $15.95....IN THE HAMPTONS? GTFO! I've had Lobster Rolls at the famed Lunch Box on Montauk Highway on the way out to Montauk and they aren't quite as good and I paid $37.50 each....ridiculous....GO TO SAM'S! read more

Great food... I always go for the Sams special pizza (no anchovies) and it never disappoints. Each meal is a two or three bucks overpriced but that's East Hampton... if you want casual, good Italian food in East Hampton, then this is your best bet... an establishment with character, and quality meals....be prepared: the service sucks, but the food makes up for it. read more

Tough to rate this place. Not my favorite pizza at all but I seem to be in the minority on that. I much prefer Springs Pizza. The pizza is too thin and small for my taste but it's still decent. The 2 salads I've tried were great & the linguine w/ clam sauce is perfect. Decor & atmosphere get 5 stars because I love old-school, non-pretentious places. Alot of places do pizza well above the bread, few do a solid crust that doesn't get in the way. This is not a fancy fine dining experience - THANK GOD!!!! (Hamptons have plenty of overpriced snooty places with average food). Pizza here is excellent as is the rest of the Italian food - all no-thrills simple traditional Italian food, in a VERY casual chill atmosphere (leave your Prada n Martha's Vineyard at home, doesn't impress people here). Gotta love Sam's. This classic southern Italian and pizza spot has been a mainstay in East Hampton for decades. A great respite from other places competing to be the trendiest and/or most expensive place in the Hamptons. Go to Sam's for awesome chicken parm, great roast chicken, superb pizzas, a great tri colore salad, and a parade of locals, tourists, and whole families out for a satisfying casual meal that doesn't break the bank. The bartender/new owner of Sam's is my hometown crush, and they make THE best (non chicago style) pizza ever. It's been around since the 1940's, and there is still graffiti from back in the day carved into the back corner wall too - kinda cool. It's a great little family place, and they do take-out as well. read more
