I've been to Sam's sushi quite a few times and I don't know how I haven't written them a review! This restaurant is sandwiched in between the movie theater and Coldstone. For a small staff, busy or not, you get your food pretty quickly. I've tried their Thai food, ramen, and sushi. All good! My favorite rolls are their Lucy Roll and Sex Underground Roll. Their tuna tataki is fire! So good. My boyfriend loves it. It's topped with seaweed salad and thinly sliced cucumbers. My boyfriend normally hates cucumbers but he will eat it on the tuna tataki because the ponzu sauce is soo good. We usually share a small bottle of sake with our meal. Good location. Plenty of parking. Came in on a Saturday night, it wasn't crowded and we were seated quickly. Ordered the gyoza and three rolls to try: spider, volcano and the godzilla roll. I just relocated from New York and I saw this establishment last week, so, I decided to go in today and do takeout sushi. I ordered the Black Dragon. The person (Angel) was really friendly, professional and kind. We also spoke about the Tonkatsu Ramen. She informed me that it was the number one ramen at the establishment. One of the best surprises was some of the staff were owners of Bangkok Siam on 66th st. Their food was out of this world and every time I had Thai food, I would always tell my husband that nothing would compare to Bangkok Siam. We decided to give Sam's a shot and placed a Togo order. Over all the food is good. The menu is pretty extensive. They have sushi, Thai food, and Ramen. We only had the sushi. Will have to come back and try other dishes. The sushi itself is good. What attracted me inside was the motorcycle inside at the time and decided to stay have the sashimi apps. The fish were fresh, washing it down with hot saki. First time stopping by based on reviews to check it out. I came at lunch time at 2 pm on a Friday. This place is located in a strip mall right next to the movie theater. The decorum has a modern Asian vibe to it. I dig it. They don't have sushi lunch specials so I opted to try out a Thai dish. I got the garlic sauce with shrimp. It comes with your choice of soup or salad. I got the miso soup and it was legit. The taste wasn't too overpowering at all. Solid. The food came out before I was done with the soup. But that's probably cuz it's dead. Very generous portion size. Sid large shrimps. Big mound of white rice. If you're expecting the more saucier type of Thai food, this is not like that. It's very flavorful for sure. I got medium spice on it because some Thai spice levels can be off the chart. For me it was still real mild so take that how you will. Full disclaimer: I was tanning in the uterus so I am used to spice. My waitress is what made the experience. She was incredibly helpful (as it was my first time), pleasant, always smiling, she checked on me just the right amount of times, and she never let my glass get fully empty. What a wonderful turnaround of our day. We ordered SO much and it was all delicious! But somehow we never got that heavy/full feeling. I owe that to great cooking of quality ingredients. Waited well over hour on Uber for my order (after it was being prepared within the first 10 minutes) and I understand restaurants get busy, and I have absolutely no problem waiting especially on a Friday night. However they waited until one minute before the 'latest arrival time' to cancel the order and now unfortunately there's no restaurants open (12:25am). On top of that they have it set on the app that they are open from now, until 10:30 AM... Sushi is average and better on some days than others but the people are very nice. The biggest problem is their website online menu, takeout menu, and restaurant menu are all priced differently. Be prepared for a bill 10-20% higher depending on the items if looking at online pricing. Individual items are sometimes over 20% more than advertised. They will not suggest a price adjustment and I don't feel like they should be able to continue to misrepresent pricing. It has been an issue for a very long time so they have had ample time to address the issue. Overall they could also pay a little more attention to cleanliness in the restaurant. read more
