The place is small but quaint. The owners are charming. The spice is perfect but be careful if you are not used to Thai hot. You will enjoy it more if you under do the spice. Best most-authentic Asian food around! We eat a lot of Asian food and this place has the best quality and taste! The owners are new and young and care about the quality of the food and it shows! They even have a separate fryer that is gluten free and are very conscious of allergies and diet restrictions. They were able to modify their food to fit our gluten free and vegan diets and it was still absolutely delicious! If you haven't taken the time to visit this hidden gem you are seriously missing out! Ordered four items, crispy egg rolls, large shrimp Th-om yum soup, chicken Kwah Pak, chicken peanut curry. All dishes were ordered with a medium spice level. While picking up the food, the place looks worse than a truck stop restroom, dirty floors, messy counters and lack of flow, but that's besides the point. They also shut down the place 40 minutes early and despite the place looking a mess when we asked if we could quickly eat there, "No, we closed and it's dirty here". The egg rolls had no taste and we're not crispy at all, they were slimy and disgusting. The soup was a large and came with two pieces of shrimp and was uneatable, spice level was extreme. The Pak was missing chicken and the container was less then half full with an abundance of baby corn. The spice level was extreme and uneatable. The peanut curry noodles were not cooked completely and the spice level was extreme. I would not recommend this place after the experience we had. read more

My wife and I tried out this local spot recently and were really impressed. We are always open for giving a new place a try, especially if the food is Asian - there are very few of these in our winter wonderland! We tried the tofu appetizer and loved it - crispy and creamy at the same time, with a nice dipping sauce that brought a little heat. Excellent start. We tried a soup, the Pad Thai, excellent, and the Vermicelli bowl. They were all exceptional and the service was really on the ball as well. When the service is good you can really relax and enjoy the food, and that's the experience you want. The owner told us that the place is only 6 months old, but I thinks it's going to have good run. WOW! This place is great! Awesome food, fun atmosphere, and very friendly staff. We went with a group of 6 after the dinner rush to celebrate a birthday. We were all able to sit together in a cool bench seat. We started with Kyla's egg rolls and a large Th-om Yum soup to share. Egg rolls were delicious. Th-om Yum was very flavorful and spicy but I love spicy food. If you're not into trying exotic foods, the chicken fried rice and the Pad Thai are notably good. Our kids loved the fried rice. My husband ordered the Ghang Phet (red curry), American hot spice. He loved it. I ordered the Kah-Poon, a red coconut curry chicken soup, medium spice. It was unlike any other food I've had before, and I've tried a lot. So DELICIOUS! I ended up adding more hot spice so if you're into spicy food, American hot or Cambodian hot is the way to go. The Kah-Poon and the Th-om Yum are such yummy, warming entrees on a cold fall day. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. A hidden gem! Samsara is tucked behind a Crystal Lake Health Clinic off of US 31 on the road to the Baseball Stadium. We had the Peanut Curry which was plentiful and delicious. We also had the Soup with chicken and tofu and two fresh rolls, which are Rice The rolls were crispy and fresh noodle wraps around veggies and pork. Lastly, our server was gracious and attentive. We live an hour away, but will definitely be back. And: the parking was plentiful! read more

This was such a delicious discovery! The directions can be a little tricky but it's down the side of the building next to the dollar store FYI. The owners are fun, friendly and cool people and the food was SO tasty! Their Fried Rice and Pad Thai was sweet, tasty and perfect flavor and crab rangoon fried just right. They also accommodate my wife who has Celiac disease and she was able to enjoy so many more things thanks to that. The soups are original, fresh ingredients and flavorful as you can get. I recommend you try the Ghang Phet. I could take a bath in the sauce it's so addictive! Chicken fried rice is out of this world fantastico. This is not americanized folks this is the real deal and this spice level is like you you're in diff part o the world! Samsara was OK. The prices were pretty good and we liked some of the food OK but it wasn't great. We had their chicken dish, 3 orders of pad thai, crab rangoon, soup and fried rice. The pad thai was REALLY spicy. At least a medium spiciness, which I had a hard time eating. It also didn't come with lime. The crab rangoon tasted pretty good but I'm just not a fan of really hard, fried rangoon. The fried rice was pretty good, like a 4 out of 5. We didn't dislike it but have had better. read more

The reviews of this restaurant are spot on. The food is amazing and the service is friendly and welcoming. My family and I have had Thai food in many locations in many different cities and this is right on par with those experiences. The spice level is good and can be increased to anyone's liking. Our food arrived fresh and hot and were looked after by the staff well. My wife had the TH-OM MAMA and the egg was perfectly cooked. I had the Phô and it was delicious. Our kids had the Pad Se-ew and Peanut Curry Noodle both with beef and they were amazing as well. The only down side was the fact that the TH-OM KHEM was only available on Fridays or Saturdays, which they are in the process of making new menus to reflect that. This place is a little gem! Family owned and the service shows they care! The server (I think the only one) recognizes us after the few times we have gone in. They have boba and pho!!! Just to warn you, their idea of mild spice about killed my mouth (I am a wimp). So if you like spice, be ready to get just that! Fortunately they do no spice for me after my learning experience. We have needed a real Asian restaurant in Traverse City for a long time. I have traveled extensively in Asia: Viet Nam and China and our "ethnic" cuisine is made for Americans, and has little resemblance to the real thing. Samsara comes as close to authentic as anything that exists in our town. The flavors are very distinct, the soups are excellent and the pad Thai is outstanding. I went here with a group of friends. The restaurant is in a small location but great because we could actually hear one another and service was excellent. I believe one of the owners helped us and she was able to give us advice on options from the menu. Several in our group have food sensitivities but she had us covered. The food was excellent and the flavors outstanding. The only thing I would caution you on is that the food can be spicy hot so it you do not go for that make sure to let them know. I was brave and went for the mild plus one peanut sauce chicken and it was wonderful but I should have went with mild. I will definitely be back. Keep up the good work read more

Heat lovers rejoice. They definitely haven't Americanized the heat level here at Samsara. Medium here would be hot anywhere else. Large soup comes out in a heated round serving bowl. Thai iced tea with milk is like a dreamsicle. It's tucked into a little industrial plaza off the highway so you really have to look for it. read more
