    Scallop Pasta Dish

This was a casual spot that had ten or so tables with several more outside. The menu was condensed, but with a lot of variety and great prices. All of the pasta was fresh and homemade. The service was very friendly, and the food came out promptly. The small Italian chop salad ($8) was ordered to start the meal. It came with brick cheese, pepperoncini, sweety drop peppers, croutons, parm, and an Italian vinaigrette. This was very good and fresh. There was enough of all the ingredients, and they mixed well with one another. It was lightly dressed too. For dinner, two pastas were split, the pesto ($16) and scallop ($21). The pesto had creste di Gallo pasta with toasted pistachio, basil, and parm. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, but the pesto sauce itself seemed to be missing something. Everything was definitely fresh and the crushed pistachios were a nice touch, but it just seemed to lack something. The scallop had gnocchetti, roasted corn, marinated tomato, white wine sauce, dill, and sunflower sprouts. This was top notch. The sauce was very flavorful, and again the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. The fresh corn and tomatoes just enhanced the spectacular white wine sauce. Will I go back? Easily.

We stopped in here without a reservation for an early dinner and only had a short wait for a table. It seems like reservations are definitely a good idea! Our server was very friendly and helpful. We started with the calamari which was perfectly crispy and had pepperoni with it- unique and tasty. I got the French onion pasta for my entree which was so pretty and absolutely delicious. Everything came out pretty quickly and we enjoyed it all. Definitely worth checking out for a nice but not crazy expensive meal.

Hands down the best Italian food I've had in a very long time. The restaurant and menu are both very small and quaint, but everything is perfected. Our server was friendly and helped with recommendations. My husband and I split the Cesar salad, cheesy bread and bolognese. Everything was absolutely delicious. I loved all the special touches like microgreens on the pasta and fresh basil on the salad. The flavors and textures were spot on. The homemade lemonade and red table wine were both delicious as well. Overall this spot knocks it out of the park. We won't visit TC without coming here!

The Flying Noodle is an Italian pasta restaurant located on the popular Front Street in downtown Traverse City. There's a good amount of metered street parking and a pay parking lot nearby. We were lucky enough to find a space right out front near their patio seating area. The restaurant is known for its scratch-made Italian pastas in a lively and relaxed environment. We opted for bar seating instead of waiting for a table in the smallish restaurant space that probably seats about fifty. We were fortunate to receive excellent service from the friendly bartender. What immediately stands out to me is the concise menu options. This is usually a good sign that the kitchen won't be overwhelmed with preparing so many different items and what they do offer is of the highest quality. That certainly was the case today! We started with the tasty Garlic Dots that come with a really good marinara for dipping plus garlic and parmesan on top. For entrees we chose the Lemon Chicken and the classic Alfredo with rigatoni and shrimp. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and the perfect portion sizes. In fact, the alfredo sauce is among the best I've ever had! What makes these entrees even better is the housemade pasta that was cooked to "al dente" perfection. We were already pretty full, but couldn't resist ordering the tiramisu. It's a bit different from the typical restaurant-style tiramisu, but it was outstanding and worth every calorie! Overall, the Flying Noodle made for an excellent casual dining experience that checks all the boxes. No complaints here. A+

Delicious!! It was a long wait but definitely worth it. Not pictured we also got the Piccata with chicken and marinara and everything was amazing. Would definitely return!

This place had such fresh and amazing tasting pasta! Me and my girlfriends were on a weekend trip in traverse city and were starving for some lunch. The wait was about 25 min so not too bad and we did sit at the bar. The restaurant seemed pretty small/ intimate. The waiter at the bar was very nice and informative and I would for sure go back! The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because there was a hair in our calamari and I'm sure they would have made us a new one if we said something but we were too hungry to wait

Lemon Chicken Pasta (house recipe) with GF noodles, and Fettuccini Alfredo with Brocollini, house red and white. Yummmmm

This place is absolutely fantastic. From the fun ambience outside on the patio to the cool interior design it's super cozy and eclectic, and the menu items are delectable. They offer gluten-free pasta substitutes for those intolerant, which is a huge plus & I have to say the lemon chicken is incredibly delicious. Highly recommend! My boyfriend had the fettuccine Alfredo with broccolini and it was also super good. Everyone's table of food looked amazing so I could've tried pretty much anything here. Their house wine special for six bucks a glass of red or white is nice too. Highly recommend and will be going back. Service was great too - immediate seating and friendly efficient staff.

Delicious food, no wait on a Thursday night, and excellent wait service. I ordered the shrimp alfredo and what made it stand out was the lemon zest on top! Yum! The pasta had a nice bite to it, too. My husband ordered the Italian Sub which came on a nice house made bread, kind of like a pita or pizza crust folded in half. He also LOVED the Cesar salad that came as a side. All in all, we were very pleased and would recommend this place.

Must go! Food and drinks are delicious. We got seated right away but that might have been luck bc they were busy. There is outside and indoor seating. We started with the garlic knots and they came with a marinara sauce. Great shareable but I could have eating the whole plate myself. That good. The cocktails were pretty and so so good. We all got different cocktails and no complaints. Dinner we had people get carbonara, clams, and Italian sausage. All were five star. When you get the plate looks like small portion but really was perfect and wasn't too stuffed afterwards.

Food was so good! it was really cool watching the cooks do their thing and it came out super fast as well! I would absolutely go again soon! Service was amazing, we sat at the bar because they were full with reservations (we forgot to make one) The bartender was so sweet and amazing. Fast service as well! Everything was so aesthetically pleasing and very well designed. I loved my experience here! We went on 2/28!

    Pasta and pizza

We arrived about 6:00pm and waited two hours to get a table. When we finally did get a text that our table was ready it was about 8:40. If your on a date I think that's ok, but if your waiting with a family that might be a long wait. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating but quite small. We ordered 3 pasta dishes which were in our opinion just basic pasta with sauce. I ordered extra chicken and broccoli on mine and I'm glad I did otherwise it would just be basic pasta and sauce and my husband took the servers suggestion and ordered the extra meatballs which were bland in his opinion our son ordered a pizza. Nothing really was spectacular tasting . Honestly not worth the wait.

Such a cute spot in downtown! We got lucky on a busy night and were seated right away. I had an incredible espresso martini and the French onion noodles. Both were superb and my mom had a marmalade drink and the shrimp scampi which she raved about as well. Service was great and he took the time to explain things to my mom. The vibe in here so super cozy and intimate, perfect for date night or to take parents out for a night out on the town!

Insanely good pasta in cute digs! Walked in for lunch and was immediately charmed by the smaller dine in space and open kitchen. For two, split a Caesar salad and two of their pastas. Each new bite really surprised me and blew me away! The Caesar salad is a lighter brighter version, punctuated by fresh lemon and a creamy, milder dressing. The grated parm and crumbled croutons, plus dash of green onion, rounded out the flavor and I liked the pretty uniform texture throughout. The pastas though!!!! Got a fettuccini with littleneck clams, white wine, butter, shallot, lemon, herbs. Honestly paired with the salad well with the lemon continuity. But wow this had great depth of flavor. Felt SO summery and seafood-y and delish! Then the Italian sausage, malfadine, heirloom tomato (blended into the sauce), sweety drop peppers, pecorino, basil pasta was insane too!! A PUNCH of flavor, and loved the sour/acid in this one (from the peppers?). Really, really special. The actual pasta in both dishes too were so good - fresh, chewy, bouncy, and I liked that I got to try two pasta types. 10/10 recommend, would absolutely come back here.

The restaurant itself had a beautiful, rustic and romantic atmosphere, and the hostess was lovely about accommodating our request for a quieter table. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once our waitress began taking our order. She initially gave us great wine recommendations and was pleasant while explaining the specials. However, when I decided to order the white pizza instead of the trout because I wanted something lighter, her attitude completely changed. She became noticeably aggressive and dismissive, which made us feel as though we were being judged for choosing a less expensive item from the menu. The service continued to be disappointing. I had to ask for the complimentary bread, and I waited nearly 30 minutes for the second half of my wine. When we asked about it, we were abruptly told that the bar was busy. Her tone throughout the rest of the meal was extremely inconsistent, including literally yelling across the table, "How's the food?" It was so unexpected that my husband and I almost had to laugh. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't make up for the experience. The appetizers were decent, but our mains--the ravioli and white pizza--were very average and lacked flavor. We've been to many fine-dining and Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and we understand that service can occasionally have an off night. What was disappointing here was feeling judged based on what we chose to order. Customers should feel comfortable ordering anything from a restaurant's own menu without being treated differently because of the price. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and a lot of potential, but given our overall experience, we unfortunately won't be returning or recommending it to family and friends.
