Service was good with the waiter always checking in and on top of things. Food was amazing! Seafood tower with oysters, clams and shrimp was the favorite of the table, very fresh and flavorful seafood. The whole table (party of 6) had fish and one order of lobster tails, and everyone left very happy with their dishes. From the filets to the whole fish, everything was very good and tasty. Our waiter did not come to take our order until a good 35-40 minutes after sitting, not a huge deal but a notable delay. What irritated me during dinner was we were asked if we'd like dessert while 2 people were still eating their meals, followed by the check immediately arriving- no etiquette. While paying and wrapping up the staff were directed to clear the table, this was obvious. For full drinks to be removed without asking is unacceptable. It was as if we weren't even sitting there the manner they were clearing. Again it was obvious the direction of the manager, they needed the table. Try being efficient to start instead of creating a rush at the end if overbooked and delayed. It's classier than putting a check on a table with people eating and rudely clearing drinks. Will not be returning. There is better up the road with real management and service.

Came with my wife and son and sat 3 across right at the bar. Our friendly bartender/server, Priya promptly took our drink order and we decided to start off with a pitcher of Sangria and some Oyster Shooters, that came with vodka, fresh Canadian oysters, lemon and hot sauce, everything tasted amazing. We then proceeded to order some apps, a dozen more of the Canadian oysters as well as a Shrimp Cocktail. The oysters were so fresh and delicious and the shrimps were big and tasty. For our main courses, my wife ordered a Fried Combo platter of Cod and Scallops, mu son ordered the Fried Cod Sandwich and I ordered a Fried Combo platter with Fried Clams and Fried Flounder. Everything was so delicious, all the fish was fried perfectly and so tender and flaky, the scallops, not only were they fried perfectly and delicious, they were plentiful, at least 10 of them in my wife's platter and the fried clams were so good, so tender, I loved them. While we were eating I noticed our bartender had a tee shirt that said Keyport Fishery on the back, so I asked if they owned this spot as well, she said yes. Well that explained why everything was just so good, in fact I might have enjoyed the fish here even more. What a great spot this is, even the prices are reasonable. We will be coming here a lot, if I lived closer I'd come every day, LOL.

The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.

Also on it was eggplant rollatini which had way too much ricotta oozing out of it so it was hard to find the eggplant. The clams oreganato were good but the calamari had way too many breadcrumbs. Separately we had the "Clam Bar Special" plate of fried calamari with hot sauce and it was THE best plate by far, second were the mussels on the hot antipasto plate. The Feast Eggroll was delicious. Unfortunately the linguini with white clam sauce was HORRIBLE. No taste, no flavor and it had water in the bottom of the plate. So I drained the water, put the remainder of the oil that you would dip the bread in, a touch of salt & the extra breadcrumbs from the clam oreganato into the plate and it still did not help. So with the remainder of the sauce from the mussels, I tried to fix my plate. It was just ok at that point. This chef needs to know not to overstuff the eggplant when making rollatini and to drain the pasta very well before plating as any good Italian knows. Would I go back, you wonder? So do I. Maybe

Our experience started off fine--the server was friendly and knowledgeable. However, things quickly went downhill. We ended up waiting an extra 10 minutes for a plain pizza after everyone else at the table had already been served. To make matters worse, a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill despite the delay. We didn't blame the server, but when we raised concerns about the wait and the gratuity, she responded that it wasn't her fault and walked away. A manager finally came over just as we were about to leave, but that only made things worse. He insisted the situation wasn't his fault either, blaming the system and the kitchen--anyone but himself or his team. It felt like accountability was completely absent. If you want a pleasant dining experience without frustration from poor service and management, I recommend avoiding Feast.

I left shortly after to attend a sports game and returned around 9:00 PM. Upon returning, I ordered a shot of vodka, then asked Cheryl for another Cosmopolitan. Her response was, "Well, you just had a shot of Tito's." I replied, "Okay, well I would like a Cosmo." I then watched her pour a splash of Tito's into the shaker. After receiving the drink, I paid via Apple Pay and asked for the receipt so I could leave a tip. Cheryl informed me that she had already tipped herself 20%, which I found inappropriate and unacceptable--tipping should be at the guest's discretion. I returned to my table and took a sip of the drink, only to realize it tasted like juice. I had several friends with me, many of whom are experienced bartenders or servers, including myself, and they confirmed it was not a proper Cosmopolitan. Upset that Cheryl had added a tip without my consent and served a drink that clearly lacked alcohol, I approached her to express my dissatisfaction. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, she gave me attitude and stated I shouldn't have been drinking before my sports event. She did offer a replacement drink at no charge, but again, it was just juice. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Alex were seen discussing the situation behind the bar, which only made the experience more uncomfortable. I want to make it clear that I will return to Sammy D's, but I will not be ordering drinks from Cheryl or Alex again.
