So, originally, I wrote the following review and rated as two stars: The company was great and very responsive to ask when I was available and when they could see my yard. He was even going to be in the area that day. However, they couldn't come over the same day and when I ask ed about weekend availability, I didn't get a reply. I gave two stars for a great start but ultimately, there wasn't the communications back to set up an appointment. I hope it is because they are very busy and creating amazing spaces for others. I'm still on the hunt for a landscaper and wish you the best in your search! Following the review, Rob was able to reach out and let me know that my message was lost in a list of messages which is certainly possible. We decided to give the company a try as things do come up and we would hate to miss out on a good landscaper due to a possible human error. Rob was great and came out this Saturday. Rob was very knowledgeable and was able to provide good suggestions for our yard as well as see our vision. It is in dire shape and it takes ALOT of vision to see past our weeks and doggie dig spots! Rob and his team do terrific work. They completed a complete redo of our side and back yards including removing all grass, reconfiguring sprinklers, hauling waste and grading the site. His team installed large pavers with gravel fill, a large decomposed granite pad, new and relocated palm trees and cycads. The San Agustin crew showed up every day and all of the material deliveries were carefully scheduled. Rob helped with some design elements and his knowledge of plants and trees was extremely helpful. He tidied up the worksite every day before leaving to minimize disruption and his crew was always friendly and courteous. He stuck to his bid, even with some changes and was very responsive when we wanted to relocate some additional plants and add some work. He knew we had a project deadline and made sure he delivered on time. He has my highest rating and regard. read more

I am a DIY gardener and was planting 9 Fruitless Olive Trees for the 3rd time and wanted to order Swam Hill Olive Trees and the nursery only sells to Landscape Contractors. I called a lot of landscape companies and nobody would help me order them without charging a hefty fee. Not only did Robert work with me to order the trees he referred me to gentleman who owned a backhoe and forklift to help me plant these 36" box trees that weighed 1500 pounds. As a business owner I really respect what he did for me and allowed me to do the job my way and did not charge me a penny for any of his time. I will be referring Robert for life to anybody in need of a trustworthy and experienced landscaper that is fair with customers and doesn't look at you like a Dollar Sign. read more

The ease of scheduling an appointment on-line lead to an even better experience. Roberto called me within a couple of hours of receiving my request. He confirmed the appointment for the following day. I showed up to the appointment about 7 minutes before our scheduled time. To my pleasant surprise, Roberto was already there. He said he liked to show up about 10 minutes early to appointments. I'd received two estimates before our meeting, he earned my business just by being not only on-time - but EARLY! Roberto promised follow-up that evening via email. He sent the estimate along with a mock-up of how my yard would look once he finished the work. The visual of my yard with his ideas made me more than comfortable with both his skill and his business ethic. Honestly, though...he had me at "Hello." His prices were reasonable and the estimate gave me an itemized breakdown of the work. He was able to start work within a few days. During the job he stayed in touch, gave me updates, showed up early, and finished on time! The only time he showed up 'late' was when it was time for me to pay him. And even then, it was by only 3 minutes! Overall, he did a fantastic job. He remained professional, dedicated, and communicative. I appreciate his honesty and business sense. Robert and his team are amazing! They did an awesome job on our front and back yard. Robert was very professional, knowledgable about plants and hardscape materials, and has a good eye for design. He was even able to suggest some contractors for other types of work that were outside of realm (concrete and fencing). There was a lot of going back and forth on the design and cost (which is good because it's a sign that they are willing to work with you to ensure you're happy), but once everything was finalized the actual work was quick and on point. If I had more landscaping work that needed to be done, I would totally hire Robert and team because they were a pleasure to work with. read more

I cannot speak to the quality of Robert's work because he never responded with an estimate. I contacted him based on his Yelp reviews. He said he would get back to me, but didn't. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and reached out again. He apologized and came to our home to measure and discuss our job. He gave my husband a timeline for when he'd have an estimate. That date passed, and after three weeks, my husband reached out again. Robert apologized and said he would have it for us on Friday. Guess what happened on Friday? Why do contractors take the time to visit, measure, discuss when they apparently have no intention of following through. Just say you're too busy and let us move on. read more

I had a lawn and landscaping installed last fall by San Agustin. Robert and crew did a great job, from design, through installation, and initial maintenance. I had competitive bids, Robert came in the middle price wise, but I liked his enthusiasm and passion. It turned to to be the best value in the end. Like anything, it didn't go perfectly, it never does, but I'm a still happy customer 9 mos later. Robert and crew did a great job, didn't stop till the job was done right, went the extra 9 yards in areas where extra work was needed. He kept me informed the whole way, made sure I was happy with my choices and the outcome. He's knowledgeable in all areas, and that came through in choice of plants, grass, irrigation system, and continues to be, ideal for my specific installation. Hi Robert, we had a 5:30 pm quote visit for a yard project set up for yesterday 7/25/17. I texted you at 11:00 am 7/25/17 to confirm the appt .. I also texted you later in the day at 5:00pm but I never heard from you. I had to move some things around and cancel some family plans in order to be home for your visit. If you happened to forget or accidentally overbooked your consult then that's fine. It happens and I understand. But I would've appreciated a text/call reply to let me know to go about my day, and we could've re scheduled our appt to another day. That's not cool and I don't appreciate you wasting my time. I contacted three different landscapers. Two never responded and one didn't do work in San Pedro. I found San Agustin Landscaping on Yelp and I liked the reviews I read about Robert. I emailed him and he emailed me back. His emails were professional and well written which means a lot to me. We set up a time to meet and discuss what work I wanted done. Robert was very professional, he listened to what I was wanting done, made some suggestions, took some pictures and said he would get back to me with a quote. His quote not only gave details of what he would do on my job but he also included a copy of his liability insurance and license number. I was so pleased with my interaction with Robert, I didn't even get another quote. Robert built a wall in front of my flower bed that goes the length of my house. He faced it with stone veneer to match the house. He replaced my sprinkler system in the flower bed with a soaker system and he did a beautiful job landscaping the flower bed which was an after thought on my part. I just love the work he did for us! I really enjoyed working with Robert. He had something beyond his control come up which delayed the job a few days but he contacted me to let me know what happened and was very apologetic. Robert and his employees were very pleasant and worked very hard. Another thing which meant a lot to me was whenever Robert communicated with his employees in front of me, he did so in English. I really appreciated this because I don't speak Spanish. To me, this was very respectful. Robert was worth every penny and if we ever do more work, I'm calling Robert at San Agustin Landscaping. Based on these nice reviews and pictures I called Robert about 4 weeks ago, and he came out the next day. He took pictures and later emailed me a rendering. I wrote back with some suggestions and asked for another one based on what I wanted. We are not talking about a big space, just half of my backyard. He texted me back, "Yeah, I can do that". Rob was great in listening to what we needed done and made suggestions as needed. We asked to have a non toxic weed killer and he searched and found a organic weed killer and used this for our old yard to remove the old grass He and the crew removed the old lawn had to regrade the entire yard to account for drainage that was not correct to begin with. They had to deal with some very bad roots. They installed all new irrigation and graded for drainage. We had selected a ground cover, that little known to us, was not readily available. He ran all the way to the valley to pick up the only flats of this ground cover in the LA area. The installed the new cover 3 trees and all new sod. They finished before Mothers day and all the family thought it looked great. He came back a week later to follow up and adjust the sprinklers and we asked for some additional changes and he is working to implement those changes read more

Quality work at great prices. I had several different companies give me estimates on re-sodding and adding a privacy hedge to our yard in addition to installing a new irrigation system. Rob was the last guy I spoke with and right away I knew his company was the best for the job. Right off the bat his knowledge of landscaping was very apparent. He knows all names of any plant or tree you can think of! He is overall a very genuine nice guy. His crew was very polite and a joy to work with. San Agustin did two jobs for me. 1) Rebuild a brick walkway where water had eroded the mortar away. The walkway itself merited 4 stars. However, the collateral damage was extraordinary: cracked my adjacent brick wall right down the middle and filled it with concrete; concrete splashed on my windows; decorative rock buried; cement poured into a planter; bricks taken from a planter edging; and debris left around. 2) Install parkway turf and repair irrigation system. They totally failed on this: sprinklers don't cover the entire lawn; not all sprinkler heads in each zone are the same; drip irrigation hoses in planters don't cover the full area so I can plant; four sprinkler heads are leaking; connectors on drip hoses are wrong type and keep popping off; drip hoses in two different zones are all mixed up; didn't know how to connect a new valve to the auto system. They demanded to be paid immediately after they were "finished," and said to just give them a call if I needed anything. It is sensible that a few after the fact tweaks would be required, but numerous calls and texts to two different people at this company went unanswered. It was so messed up that the next guy I hired had to start over on the drip portion. This is my first negative review for anyone, but I really felt like it warranted. read more
