Bake n Broil has some exceptional.baked goods. I pre-ordered a German Chocolate Cake. I love that you can have it the traditional way, without icing on the sides. I have had many cakes before this one over the years,.almost every flavor including this one. They have always been so good and moist! Unfortunately this one was quite dry but the icing was spot on! I woukd still recommend getting this flavor, thi k it was just a one off. I also ordered a cinnamon roll to go. It was so good! As always, service was excellent!
I can only speak on the red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Solid 5 stars. Tender crumb, not overly sweet, creamy but dense frosting with little walnut bits for texture. My coworkers rave about the chicken pot pie in spite of it only having a top crust. Put it on the bucket list!
Love bake n broil always great service great food. Whenever I have a sweet tooth my go to is always bake n broil. I'm a baker of German Chocolate Cake also, when l don't want to bake so happy l can pick up a slice of cake. The slice is so big it lasts me for 2-3 days. Love the decor kinda gives the old coffee shop vibes that's modern for our community to enjoy #supportlocalbusinesses
This spot is located right on Atlantic and 37th St. so find parking on the street. First time coming here, one thing to know is that if you're by yourself or with a party of two and you don't mind sitting at the counter, the countertop is first come first serve so you don't have to wait on the waitlist and make the same mistake that I did. At the end of the day, that's exactly where I sat on the countertop realizing it's first come first serve. Our server was great we were immediately greeted. She took our order this place has a lot of bake goods muffins, cinnamon rolls, cake pies you name it. couldn't help it to order the cinnamon roll, which is pretty huge. Unfortunately the cinnamon roll is bland but pretty big good enough to share. What are their protein omelette which comes with a muffin or toast, picked out of toast and this omelette is all egg whites spinach, grilled chicken, breasts, peppers, onions, tomatoes, with cheese also comes with a side of potatoes, my friend, what are their huevos rancheros. I like how their jams are homemade which is pretty nice pretty busy so do you expect the wait time but it kind of goes by quick I highly recommend
Service was a lot better today. Came in and this restaurant was busy Monday (non Holiday) around 1:15pm. Busser brought us water. Order was taken efficiently and soups were served in a good timely manner. When I told the server about the issues on the meat. Didn't seemed concern or care. Ambiance was loud as expected. People's voices carrying through dining area. Here is the bad for me. The French onion soup tasted super sour and acidic. Not sure if they use the red wine like traditional French onion soups but super acidic and sour. Didn't like the soup. The worst part was I ordered the Pastrami Reuben and didn't look like any Pastrami Reuben I have ever had. The meat had so much unrendered fat and connective parts of the pork it was completely inedible. Sandwich lacked meat and cross section photo shows. Also very sloppy build for a restaurant of this level. Unfortunately this will be my last time trying this popular location. 2 - service. 0- food quality
Their parking? Bleh. Their price point? Meh. Their pie crust? Oh hell yeah. Came in with a small group early on a Wednesday afternoon maybe an hour before closing, and most of the tables were still filled with diners. We were seated right away in the way way back of the restaurant. The layout and decor of the place gives it a classic, borderline kitschy vibe. You can tell it's a place that's managed to hold its own for like 60 years (!!!). The server was friendly, overall service was prompt, and the portions were solid. I got the quiche of the day, which was ham and cheese, and it was amazing. It came with a side (salad was fresh and crisp) and a muffin -- their raspberry streusel muffin was so delicious and a perfect dessert to tie the meal together. I would definitely get this special again, and look forward to trying their other versions of both quiches and muffins. Others at my table got strawberry pancakes, a pastrami sandwich, and chicken fried steak. All food was devoured, so I take it that it was good. However, I really think that the baked goods make this place. So if you go, don't skip out on those.
Omg, i had to wrote another review. Was meeting a friend from out of town coming in from Long Beach Airport. It was the perfect location. We enjoyed a great lunch. The Obion rings had me off a delicate tempura-like batter not the beer batter or breadcrumb fry I'm accustommed to but pretty good. Of course, i had to try the Lush Pie. This was probably the best lemon pie dessert ever! So good, my friend had to order her own dessert. Looks like a popular place with the locals. Service was friendly and attentive. For sure coming back! Street parking.
On a busy Tuesday morning this place was packed. We waited about 10 minutes before we were sat. The servers keep the flow going to avoid long wait times. Upon entering, the first thing you see is the fresh baked pies and cakes...yummy. The portions of the breakfast plates was plenty and delicious. From the chicken fried steak to pork chops and eggs the food was on point. Save room for the sweet stuff. The lemon meringue was amazing. It was served still warm from the oven with delicious flavor. With the small town vibe they make you feel like you're a local. Definitely returning for more on my next trip south.
Me and my aunt decided to come here after hearing the great reviews on this place on a Friday morning. Parking isnt the best and we had to park down the street and around the corner but we didn't mind the walk. We came around 11 or so we put on name on the list and it took about 20-25 min before we were called back. We for a table right next to the window. Our waitress Juleni was super sweet and helpful ( she even complimented my freckles ). I ordered the chicken pot pie with side salad with Italian dressing and a hot green tea. My aunt ordered the clam chowder and turkey sandwich in squaw bread and a hot green tea also. Our food came out very quickly maybe 5 minutes or so after ordering. We both really enjoyed our meals. I haven't had a chicken pot pie in awhile and it was the perfect crust to filling ratio and very filling. The salad was really good as well. Although the restaurant was packed we didn't feel rushed and were able to catch up and spend time together which we both appreciated
Wow... seen this place over the years but never stopped in. Until today..... after my husband's co worker began insisting we give it a try. Omg he has right.... Obsessed...... just left after breakfast and already thinking of when I will be back. Breakfast was amazing desserts here look amazing. I was stuffed and didn't try anything this time. The lines here are out the door. We were lucky and spotted 2 empty chairs at the counter n sat right away. Our server Roger was great. My primary care doctor is close by.... Next week and I will stop by here again :) FIY: ambiance here is tight in case you don't like crowded seating this might not be the right spot for you. (There is outside seating but it was closed today)
This is an iconic place for anyone who grew up in the LBC. I have been here a few times and every visit, the service and food is amazing. Because it is so popular, it can get busy and since it is a bit small, you may need to wait, but it is well worth the wait. A few of my favorite dishes include the country fried steak, french toast, chicken pot pie, and the homemade pies. There is such a great variety of food that I am sure you will have no problem finding something to your liking. As you sit in the cafe, you can get some free smells of all their homemade pies. My favorite is the peach pie, it is fruity, fresh, flavorful, and pairs well with a scoop of ice cream. If needed, you can always take a pie home if you are too full from your entree. The staff here are so nice and often times, you will find the owners helping out during busy peak days. They are attentive and quick to serve. Every time has been great so I highly recommend if you are looking for some great breakfast or an early lunch. This is a Long Beach staple, so don't miss out!
I'd been putting off dining in because there always seems to be a line, but I finally made it and wow, I get the hype now. We arrived just a few minutes after opening and it was already filling up. The food is amazing. I ordered the turkey, spinach, and cheese omelet with added mushrooms, and it was perfection. I also shared the banana pancakes with my sister-in-law and stole a few bites of my boyfriend's biscuits and gravy. Every flavor was memorable! And let's not forget the homemade jam. If you have the option to get toast, try the sourdough and absolutely drench it in that jam..trust me. Despite how busy it looked, the service was quick, and the food came out fast. The place seems small when you first walk in, but there's extra seating in the back, so they keep things moving efficiently. Overall, totally worth the wait. I'm already planning my next visit.
It's like your local spot always a line here. They close early. The vibe is perfect place for a sit down coming home vibe. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday. They have homemade pies here. I had the soup and salad combo with a pie. It was a great deal combo. The chili was very tasty. Hard to find a good chili often times too salty.
Bake n Broil is easily one of my favorite breakfast spots! My go to is always the avocado omelet, which comes with your choice of seasoned or unseasoned potatoes. I always get the seasoned potatoes and of course, I have to get a side of their daily muffin. So good! The prices are very affordable, especially for the quality and portions of the food. The service has always been really good whenever I've dined in as well. The only downside is that it can get very crowded, but honestly, I can see why considering how good the food is and how reasonable the prices are. Because it gets so busy, I usually order takeout, and I've always had a great experience. My orders have been ready, everything tastes just as good, and I've never had any complaints. The restaurant itself is also really cute with a nice, casual, and welcoming ambiance. Definitely one of those reliable breakfast spots that I keep going back to! read more
I love the French Dip here! It's basic - just meat, roll & broth - but very flavorful. Beef has been consistently tender. I also really like their fries - oh AND their baked goods. Honey Bran muffin is excellent. AND their Lemon Lush pie is my favorite dessert. Service is always really good, waits can be long as it is a popular restaurant. I've been going here for years and it's always had a good chill coffee shop vibe. Definite LB classic! read more

I can't believe I'm just now writing a review, considering I've been coming here since the mid-'90s. Bake N Broil is truly a neighborhood gem. If you don't believe it, just drive by and watch the number of people waiting outside--and inside--for a table. They don't take reservations, which is a bit of a bummer, but honestly, it's usually worth the wait. I've always ordered breakfast, and everything I've had over the years has been consistently good. My go-to orders are the diced ham & eggs, banana nut pancakes, and the ABC omelette. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. They used to be open until 8pm, so I was surprised on a recent Sunday visit to learn they now close at 2pm for dine-in. They do remain open for takeout only until around 7pm or 8pm. Parking can be a little challenging. There's limited street parking, plus a lot behind the restaurant. Back in the day, you could park in the church lot across the street, but I'm not sure if that's still allowed. Oh and can't forget about the baked goods. Lemon lush pie, the muffins, and slice of red velvet cake- So good! Overall, I'm glad to see that after all these years, the food and service are still exceptional. read more

Where do I even begin? I've been coming to Bake-N-Broil for over a decade now, and it's safe to say I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the place. The love part is easy...the food, the staff, and especially the desserts keep me coming back. The hate part? The wait. No matter when you come, expect at least a 30-minute wait. You write your own name down on the list and hope to hear it called before you start craving dessert for lunch. Honestly, I wish they had an attendant to help with check-ins -- it would make the experience feel a little more cared for and organized. That said, the staff has always been friendly, helpful, and upbeat, which makes up for a lot. The food is consistently solid -- slightly above standard -- and you really can't go wrong with most of the menu. But let's be real: the stars of the show are the desserts and baked goods. The red velvet cupcake is hands-down the best I've ever had -- 10/10. No one else even comes close. The lemon lush pie is another standout -- creamy, perfectly tart, and absolutely unforgettable. You'll never think about the old tired lemon meringue again. On my most recent visit, my server was Juleni, who was an absolute gem -- sweet, attentive, and genuinely kind. I tried the cheeseburger for the first time and would give it a solid 7/10. Great presentation, though the patty could've used a bit more seasoning and the bottom bun was a little soggy. Will I be back? Absolutely. After more than 10 years, Bake-N-Broil still has my heart (and my sweet tooth). If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by -- just be ready to wait a bit, because it's worth it. read more

I love Bake 'n Broil so much I go there for my birthday every year. I always say if you can do a good classic American breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon & hash browns you're the one. & they really are it. Their seasonal menu smacks and their food is top tier. They got homemade jam on the tables y'all! Plus lots of baked goods to buy. Haven't tried their lunch menu, but for breakfast it hits. *Street Parking easily accesible *Can be a bit of a wait on the weekends but worth it IMO *Make sure your whole party is there or you'll have to wait to be seated! *Service always attentive & nice read more

Fantastic diner experience. Plenty of counter space for dining. There was a crowd and line for tables but the staff we're working hard to get everyone served. Ordered the huevos rancheros with seasoned hash browns and OJ. Great tasting dish with spicy salsa. Id come back for the pies. read more
Consistently great! I do take-out more often than dine in, but both ways have aways been fantastic. I do suggest dining in as food is freshest and well presented. Serice is always top notch too. As far as pricing goes, the portions are big. I always have a 2nd meal with every dish I've ordered. I am a fan of leftovers! The ingredients & quality is consistent and fresh. This place gets really busy. Most visits, there is a wait around 30 mins. Staff is always working hard and they do squeeze in as many tables/booths as possible, but it gets loud and people are standing around both inside and out. Due to this, we more often than not order take-out. The restaurant doesn't seat on the front patio, so on a nice day, you'll often find some who ordered take-out enjoying their meal out front. And bonus, I see staff coming out to clear the trash. Takeout, is equally great (minus presentation of course). The to go container is packed so they definitely don't skimp. Every take-out order has been as requested and ready upon my arrival. Don't sleep on desserts here either. Red velvet cake and carrot cake are my favorites, but you really can't go wrong with of the desserts. The seasonal Olallieberry lush pie is a total win as well. read more

Was gifted this Sweet Potato pie from my neighbor! This was probably the best tasting sweet potato pie I have ever had in my entire life! The filling/sweet potato is whipped to perfection! 10/10 definitely recommend. read more
Olallieberry pie season is in June. The crust has a lovely flavor. The berries could have been more flavorful. Isn't overpoweringly sweet but it's missing a bit of something. Small cafe that is always packed. Locals spot with excellent service. read more

Amazing customer service by Chloe. She was attentive, efficient, and kind. Made sure we got the condiments that paired with the food, quickly noted when we needed napkins, and thanked us for dining in. Nice cozy restaurant with efficient service. Food was alright, could have had more flavor with the omelet. The muffin was fresh and delicious. Long wait as usual but there's a wait for a reason. read more

Delicious! My favorite place to get desserts! The cakes, the pies and muffins! My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years! Everything here is so tasty! Holy mother of coffee cake. Bookmark this spot now! I was very, VERY much blown away by this spot for breakfast. Ironically, it's next to a building I use to work at, how crazy! It was meant to be for me to eat at this spot. It's LB so yes the parking is horrible, BUT, you can park at the church parking lot next to it EXCEPT on Sundays... at least this is what the waiter had told me. This is such an old time diner feel which is so nice compared to all the flashy aesthetic places out here now. It is a little cramped I will say. Walking to the back to the restroom can feel like ur walking over peoples breakfast, I was gonna snatch their coffee cake hehe oops. I was easily influenced and asked for their coffee cake before I even ordered my main plate. This was one of the best decisions in my LIFE. You thought leaving ur ex was smart? Ordering this coffee cake is even SMARTER! Especially warmed up? Who has a warm soft center? This coffee cake... and the BUTTER... oh my god. The salted butter!!! I can't get enough of this combination. The right texture, the right amount of sweetness, the right amount of saltiness.... I'm drooling oh gosh. Please try this! But leave some for me. For my main plates I had ordered the classic French toast and the bacon cheddar avocado omelette. My mom had ordered the whole wheat pecan pancakes. French toast was frenching. ahhhhhhh I just can't get enough of this breakfast place everything just felt RIGHT. I swear all my worries and despairs had disappeared once I started munching. I completely forgot about every single problem in my life while dining here. I don't think you can go wrong ordering any breakfast plate here. Just get 1 of everything at this rate it's delicious. Amazing breakfast spot. Food is so fresh and tastes great. From the eggs to the pancakes this place has an amazing selection. Portion sizes are large so great to share plates to taste everything. Coffee is strong and hot! The cinnamon roll did have some raisins in it - so heads up if you don't like raisins. The vegetarian omelette is stuffed with avocado, mushrooms, and peppers. It is really good. The banana pancakes are out of this world good. Highly recommend. They are a HUGE serving. Parking is very limited, and the wait times can be long. Recommend getting there early but expect to wait. They do have a counter to sit at and minimal booths/tables inside. Staff is friendly and responsive. read more

Do they have their own parking lot? Or do we do street parking?
There are a few parking spaces behind the building, but count on parking on the street. We went during the day, and there was adequate parking. I don't what it's like in the evening when residents return home from work.
What time do they serve lunch?
I believe the full menubis available all working hours.
How many can feed if you order their cakes?
Round Cakes serve 12-15, 1/2 Sheet Cakes serve 24-36.
Can I make reservations?
They do not take reservations. But there is also counter seating so you can skip the line. It's first come, first serve so there may be a little wait.
Are they open for dine in dinner?
yes they are open for dining in I went and ate inside.
When will they open for dinner?
I got a frozen chicken pot pie, but there are no directions on how to cook it? Help
I would cook it for 30 mins in a preheated oven 375-400 depending on your oven. Check with a butter knife to see if it ready to remove from the oven...
Do they take reservations?
I have been there a few times and they are not fully opened to full capacity yet indoors. Perhaps calling them and perhaps after June 15th. But there is outdoor seating and its really nice weather for it now. Perhaps you may enjoy that. There is…

Why was the restaurant closed this evening? Drove all the way from south orange county for dinner here. The hours said open until 830.
I don't know and suppose to be open. Maybe some trouble like black out or fridge was broken etc... sorry but you should try there next time again. It's good place!!!
I just called to try and place an order to pick up a cake for 12/22. The lady informed me the last day is the 21st. But then online it says we can place an order online for orders the week of Christmas? I'm confused
