San Antonio Fresh Mexican Bakery and Juice Bar, storefront January 26th 2013 visit.
    Riza H. C.

Saturday January 26th 2013 VISIT Time : 13:20hrs ish What???? New Mexican Bakery in town... Err, I think its more like Sweet Pastry Goodness calling my name. So since we are in the neighborhood, I decide to stop by at this Mexican Bakery. If I am not mistaken this bakery is located in the Brentwood Plaza Shopping Center. YES, its A BRAND NEW In Town Bakery. The space is kept clean and as when I entered this Bakery, ALL the Sweet Smelling, Goodness, Bakery Goods "swhished" my scensory, making my tummy rumbling and grumbling for more and more.... Err, what to decide, what to choose? DECISIONs? DECISIONs? So many Mexican breads, cakes, cookies, pastries GALORE! Thankfully some of the pastries are labelled so I know what it was and which is which. But still I think I need all the MEXICAN Bakery Pastry catalogue or lingo ambedded in my brain... so I can remember what is what... Anyhoos, from my sweet tooth loot, the total cost of Mexican Bakery Pastry Goodness, cost me $5! SCORE!!! * Apple Empanada * Cherry/Strawberry "Log Things" Sugared Turnovers * Cherry/Strawberry "Danish" * Cream Cheese "Bear Paw" * BIG Sugar Donuts * 4 Pieces of Mexican Shortbread Cookies Each baked goods cost $0.80. The 4 Pieces of Mexican Shortbread Cookies is $1.00. So what's the deal with 3 stars... well since YELP did not offer 3.5 stars as yet... *bummer*... 4 STARS for Value. 4 STARS for Service from the lovely hispanic ladies behind the counter. Coz at least when I ask them what is what, they are willing to converse. Furthermore, I do not speak Spanish. 3 STARs for taste.. coz everything tasted the same. The pastry dough is not as flaky as I want it to be. Is this COMMON for all Mexican Bakery Goods in general? Portion of dough seems to be more than portion of fillings. Did not managed to get the upclose photograph shot of the Cherry/Strawberry "Log Things" Sugared Turnovers coz Hubs devoured it before I could. Nothing stellar as yet, though I wish someone could "steer" me to the right directions to what to expect from a Mexican Bakery. But I still crave for more and DEFINITELY many returns to this San Antonio Fresh Mexican Bakery & Juice Bar in the future when in the neighborhood. Thank you San Antonio Fresh Mexican Bakery & Juice Bar. @34/2013

I love this place! It's a typical Mexican bakery with two walls of baked goods and pastries for your selection! Grab a tray, grab some tongs, and pick whatever strikes your fancy! Everything is fresh and delicious, and you can walk out with a bag full of breads and sweets for less than $10. Definitely check this place out.

You can put yourself into a tasty diabetic coma for only $3.40

Love this place! This is my third time here and its been delicious so far. Its hard to reel it in and not buy 10 different things. Today was no exception. Everything is always fresh and different. Today I tried some kind of cheese cake or baked custard. It was eggy and creamy and dense and oh so good. Ive had the raspberry coconut roll 3 times now and it's like a dream wrapped in a cloud in my mouth. I like that nothing is overly sweet and the textures are always just right. Did I mention the price? I only spent $3.40 for four large items. Do yourself a favor and stop by this place, drop $5 on some goodies and grab a jug of milk on the way home. You be happy you did.

The Rosca de Reyes was delicious. I bought the one with sweet cheese filling and it was fresh, and very moist. Impressive!

So glad this place was recommended to me! A total gem in every which way. Service was incredible,…read morethey were patient and very knowledgeable about their products as I asked for recommendations. I ended up getting quiche for myself, pepperoni pizza for my wife as well as a plain croissant, chocolate pistachio croissant and maple cinnamon bun. The quiche was just okay in my opinion but everything else was stand out. My wife loved the pizza and the homemade ranch is AMAZING. The chocolate pistachio croissant was tasty, very flakey. The cinnamon bun was also very good but the frosting was a bit sweeter for my taste. A must visit if you're considering a solid bakery!

GetRight's Bakery doesn't need more hype, but it absolutely lives up to it…read more My girlfriend and I stopped in on a whim this past weekend while checking out a few spots in the area. I had it saved but couldn't quite remember why...until we turned the corner and saw a line out the door around noon on a Sunday. Normally that might be a dealbreaker, but once we saw the food coming out, we were all in, it looked way too good to pass up. The menu is stacked: everything from sweet pastries to savory sandwiches and even pizzas on what looked like fresh, fluffy focaccia. I went with the prosciutto sandwich (prosciutto, cheese, pesto on focaccia), and it was incredible--simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. My girlfriend had the ham sandwich on a baguette, which was just as good. We were also tempted by the turkey and some seasonal options, so we'll definitely be back to try more. We couldn't leave without grabbing a couple pastries. The almond croissant was a hit (my girlfriend saved it for the next morning and loved it), and the standout for me was the cinnamon white chocolate cookie--kind of like a snickerdoodle but with white chocolate chips. Easily a top tier cookie. Between the quality, variety, and how clearly everything is made with care, this place jumped straight to the top of my list. Worth the wait, worth the hype, and absolutely worth a return trip.

We've dined inside before, but yesterday we stopped in to pick up pastries and were reminded why this is one of our favorite bakeries in Denver. We grabbed an éclair, a blueberry muffin, and two ham and Swiss croissants. Every single thing was outstanding. The croissants are incredibly flaky and buttery with the perfect ratio of ham and Swiss, the blueberry muffin was moist without being overly sweet, and the éclair disappeared embarrassingly fast. We always have every intention of taking pictures... and then we take one bite and completely forget. That's probably the best compliment we can give. We loved sitting inside, which is intimate, cozy but still roomy. We are looking forward to sitting outside in their patio space. Staff are also exceptional!

The place was modest and quirky, with a random small chandelier adorning this bakery. Families, groups of friends, and cyclists were in the mix of patrons on a Saturday morning. All servers were very friendly, helpful with dish descriptions, and fast! The ham and cheese croissant and a shared cinnamon bun was in the cards. The pastry was flakey, buttery, and very tasty. The sesame, roasted onion and garlic sprinkled on top of the pastry was delightful. The warm cheese and ham inside were also good. The cinnamon bun was a nice mix of croissant and cinnamon bun; also flaky and buttery. I am guessing flakey, soft, and buttery is their signature! One minor thing, that coffee was not good, but the food made up for it. Overall, this was a very nice place that got us interested in all the pastries with that buttery flavor. For sure a recommend for visitors and locals.

I waited until they opened on Wednesday (closed Monday and Tuesday) and made my way over shortly after they opened at 8am. There were only a few people in line, so it honestly was perfect timing. I was shocked with how many options there were. Many types of bread, pastries, etc. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming trying to make the right decision! They also have coffee and matcha. I ended up getting a loaf of bread, a savory danish, a lemon sugar cookie, and the coffee cake to share with my partner. We ate the danish and coffee cake for breakfast and saved the cookie for dessert in the evening. Everything was delicious!! I can't wait to go back and try more pastries!
