We attended your game against the 76's on April 7th. A friend visiting from overseas brought a purse that was slightly too large and was made to put the purse in a locker. She was told by the staff to come back a few minutes before the game was over to retrieve her purse. The game became very exciting at this point and went into double overtime. I tried to exchange places with my friend and her disabled son but several levels of staff members would not allow her and her very disappointed son reentry. I was told that my ticket stated there was no reentry. I checked my ticket and my email and can find no such verbiage. I paid for multiple tickets and was not afforded full utilization of those tickets. read more

The San Antonio Spurs are my favorite team in all of professional sports. They are a model of excellence, consistency, and class. They do things "the right way." I wasn't a big fan of the NBA until the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan in 1997. I'm a huge Tim Duncan fan. Tim Duncan is what got me into watching basketball; first college, then NBA, as I followed his career. I grew up watching Tim at Wake Forest. My parents went to Wake and I grew up a Demon Deacons fan. We'd go to games (we had season tickets at one point) and watch them on TV. What I liked about Tim was he was quiet, didn't talk trash, and let his game do the talking. He dominated. When he got drafted by the Spurs, that's when I really started getting into the NBA. Tim's immediate success in the NBA was fun to watch. He backed up being the No. 1 draft pick by winning Rookie of the Year and leading the Spurs to the biggest single season turnaround in NBA history (I don't know if that record still stands). Since his rookie season in 1997-98, the Spurs haven't missed the playoffs. At the time of writing this review, the Spurs have made the playoffs 22 consecutive seasons (through the 2019 playoffs) - a very impressive run. Tim led the Spurs to their first NBA championship in 1999. I was in Thailand at the time of the 1999 Finals and remember catching the games in various places. I watched Game 5, the game where the Spurs beat the Knicks 4-1, at my uncle's condo in Bangkok. I had to listen to the game broadcast in Thai. When Avery Johnson hit the game-winner, I remember jumping up in the air and pumping my fist, accidentally hitting the light fixture above. The Spurs would go on to win four more championships, all with Duncan. His supporting cast changed and the team's style of play changed too. In the late 90s and early 2000s, they really focused on the low post and the inside-out game with the Twin Towers, Duncan and David Robinson. In the 2010s, the Spurs sped up their offense and became more perimeter-oriented. Coach Gregg Popovich adapted. Tim couldn't have ended up at a better franchise than San Antonio. It's kind of crazy to think that luck (those draft lottery ping pong balls) changed the course of the Spurs' and NBA's history for decades to come. Duncan led the Spurs to championships in three different decades. He joined an organization that values high-character, team-first guys. It's evident in guys like Robinson, Sean Elliott, and Avery Johnson, who were long with the Spurs before Duncan's arrival, and guys like Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard, who joined after. The Spurs are all about team and not about individual limelight. While Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade had farewell tours, Duncan and Ginobili quietly exited the stage with zero fanfare. The Spurs are managed well. Pop was both general manager and head coach of the team when Duncan arrived in 1997. RC Buford took over the GM duties in 2002. Overall, the Spurs have done a great job drafting. Examples include Robinson in 1987 (No. 1 pick), Elliott in 1989 (No. 3 pick), Duncan in 1997 (No. 1 pick), Ginobili in 1999 (No. 57 pick), and Tony Parker in 2001 (No. 28 pick). All of those players won championships and have had (or will have, in Tony Parker's case) their jerseys retired by the team. Along with drafting well, the Spurs have also done a great job with trades and free agent signings. Just one example was trading away George Hill, the Spurs' 2008 1st round draft pick (No. 26 pick), for the Indiana Pacers' 2011 1st round draft pick (No. 15). The Pacers' pick that year was Kawhi Leonard. Buford and the Spurs liked what they saw so much in Leonard that they were willing to part ways with George Hill, a solid point guard who had become beloved among the Spurs organization and fans. Leonard went on to help the Spurs win the 2014 NBA title and he was named Finals MVP that year. Of the Spurs' five championships, their last one in 2014 was the sweetest one for me and I'm pretty sure it's the sweetest one for Pop, Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili too. Not only because they were able to do it with such a veteran squad (the Spurs were always labeled as "old"), but because they were able to have a rematch with and avenge their painful loss against the LeBron James-Dwyane Wade-Chris Bosh-led Miami Heat. Games 6 and 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals were the most heartbreaking games I've experienced. For the Spurs to overcome that and bounce back to win the next year really showed the team's fortitude. The redemption of the 2014 Spurs team was incredible and inspiring. As Duncan said in the postgame interview, the 2014 championship made the 2013 loss OK. Since Duncan was drafted by the Spurs in 1997, the two most successful franchises in American professional sports have been the Spurs and the New England Patriots. The biggest difference between the Spurs and Pats is the Spurs don't cheat. Do not buy partial game passes from the Spurs. They sell these packages claiming to be guarantee best price and give you the worst games, as many back to backs as possible so you get the games where stars rest. They turn around and sell their own tickets cheaper than your supposed best rate making it impossible to get your money back if you cannot make a game and sell the tickets. Food and Drink prices are out of control at the arena. They will just let other people cut in line after you sit waiting in the sun. Once they sell you the tickets you cannot get in contact with the rep they assign to you without calling the customer service line. The rep will just ignore you. They conveniently will sell you the package without a mention that it includes a preseason game at the same price as regular season. But there is one line at the bottom of an email somewhere so it is your fault. Pretty much terrible all around. read more

My home town! We went to the game and had a great time. Since my uncle gave me two tickets for Christmas I decided to buy a parking pass. The parking pass cost me $50 on stub hub for lot 3 which was right there by main entrance off Houston street. I highly recommend it if you have the extra cash. I usually would uber to a game and from if I don't have a parking pass but I don't recommend it here unless you have a driver because you have to walk a bit of a way. Forget trying to catch a taxi because the line gets insane. They don't like uber much so they make it really hard to catch one which is messed up in my opinion. If you are taking a cab out of there then it's best to leave early. What I didn't like: -We had to wait till 6:30pm to get in and I wanted to buy a new shirt. Once in everyone rushes to the store so just go during the game. I nearly had a panic attack. Lol -my hot dog bun was cold. Thumbs down!!! Otherwise, it would have been great! Other than that all the employees were very friendly! Plus it's easy to navigate your way around and the location is easy to get in and out of with the help of the police directing traffic. That and our parking pass made the experience a good one. (plus Spurs won) (Also, didn't hurt that they had wine and it cost $7.50 which was $1.50 less than a beer) read more

We went to a Spurs game while in San Antonio. Discounted tickets can be purchased on Lackland Airforce Base in the Pfsington Visitor Center after the Airman's Run. Tickets ranged in price from $40 - $50 depending on the seating. Airman are allowed to stay off base later in the evening for the game, so it is worth the investment for extra family time when visiting. The game itself was amazing. I am not a sports fanatic, but had THE BEST time. I really got into it and started chanting along with the crowd. I would say this is a "must do" if you're in San Antonio during basketball season. There is never a dull moment during the game. They have entertainment happening at every second to keep you engaged. We did not have the best seats in the house but what a good time we had. My husbands company sponsored a group of about 20 that could make it out on a Monday night to the Spurs game; they played the Houston Rockets. His company designed the electrical, plumbing and the air conditioning for the Rock and Brew so this is where our outing began for appetizers and drinks. This is located in the AT&T Center. After the first quarter, Houston lead San Antonio 39-23. Yikes! We were surrounded by some rowdy Spurs fans...makes the game more interesting, along with the Megatron entertainment. For the second half it's as though the Spurs came back with a vengeance and ended the third quarter SA 81 - HOU 82... Yikes-Yikes! Intense 4th quarter; fouls; "two-shots" "three-shots" at the foul line, three point shots by both teams! Tied at 98 to 98 with 4 minutes to go.... 107-107 with 1 minute. All jokes aside, the Spurs are such an amazing team- not just for their records on the court but their work in the community, serving as positive role models, and through Silver & Black Give Back. Again if you live in this city long enough, like I have said before you will go here. Whether be you score some free Spurs Tickets in the nosebleed section(Godforbid), concert, for work etc., you will go here! Period. Given that fact you are helpless as most of the biggest concerts, sports events, performers, artists, George Lopez all happen here. So you really have no choice but to deal with it. But first. Even if you paid three hundred dollars for a Spurs seat you still have to pay for parking. The parking here can be ridiculous here, with gridlock. My suggestion is for you to park across the street and make that walk to the Center, it is more cheaper to go that route. Inside it is pretty vast and impressive I must admit. Concessions stands are all over the building. Staff with crazy hats lug around ice chests with beer so you don't have to walk miles to score another 13 dollar one. But rather than go on let me briefly explain why I have gave this arena just three stars. 1.) It is no where near the intimacy of the Hemisphere Arena. I say that as I have sat in booth floor and nosebleed sections of the center. 2.) If you do not have floor seats the higher you the more unpleasant your experience will be. For example I spent a hundred and twenty bucks on floor seats for AC/DC. I spent almost the same amount for nosebleed seats for The Eagles. Shouldn't the price of seats go down the further up you go? 3.) If you get seats in the middle of an aisle be prepared to go through Hell and High water to get food, beer or to the restroom. 4.) The restrooms are ridiculous here. It feels like you are waiting in line to score tickets for Aerosmith or something. 5.) The price of food, beer and merchandise is overinflated and way, way too overpriced. Get here early to get parking. Find your proper seat. Drink a few beers before you come or sodas, unless you are ready to shell out 10 dollars for a pretzel. But I guess that is to be expected when you come here. That's why I choose not to come here too often. Although I did come here to see Rush do "Moving Pictures" here not too long ago, I am aware also there are some exceptions to the rule. I have to admit, I haven't always been a huge Spurs fan although what has always attracted me was the fact that they learned to play as a team and almost always manage to stay grounded in their attitudes towards wins as well as losses. I've met a couple of the players and will never forget the moment my kids and I got to talk and joke around with Dave Robinson. Granted, he's retired but he still remains gracious and down to earth towards his fans. Even in a rush (because a group of single moms HOUNDED him at the movies - LOL) he still took the time to give us attention and was more than willing to take pictures. Here we go people, another NBA season! The outlook is good for the Spurs in 2009-2010 with some very interesting acquisitions. Here's how I break it down. All Hill's breaking loose, at the backup point guard spot. Second year in with plenty of tutelage from Parker and Bowen last year should make George more confident as will his new option pick up for another year by the Spurs. Jefferson's moving on up to the east side of San Antonio with a deluxe franchise who knows how to compete and how to win. His brand of defense and athleticism will blend in beautifully with the new team. Antonio McDyess may look like comedian Tommy Davidson on growth hormones but this boy can play. Again another exceptional defender with an exciting array of inside post moves and short jumpers that has become a lost art in the NBA. This guy was once one of the best players in the league with Denver and then part of a perennial contender in the Pistons. A huge pickup for the Spurs. Mason is not a good name for a jump shooter! Fortunately Roger is like butta out there and the new acquisitions inside will open up more shots for him. DeJuan Blair is a beast and will exercise the demons of the rookie jitters quickly once he gets a taste of the competition out there. Pop will make him earn his minutes though and that will make him focus and learn quicker. Does anyone remember Sean Elliott coming off of the bench for half a year behind Frank Brickowski? (probably a worse name than Mason for a ball player) Matt Bonner you are no Frank Brickowski. Michael Finley is one hundred and seventeen years old but, God love him, he's still out there. I just hope he's comfortable in spotty minutes coming off of the bench when the need arises. Theo Ratliff used to be somebody and Keith Bogans wants to be somebody let's hope they meet somewhere in between. Haislip, Mahinmi, Hairston mostly inactive till someone gets hurt. That leaves us with the three headed monster that is the nucleus of the San Antonio Spurs and we all know their names and what is required of them. Stay healthy. They are all three, all stars and must be at full strength when it counts in May. On paper I think the Spurs are the 4th best team in the league behind the Lakers, Celtics and Cavaliers in that order but anything can happen and we all know it is a long season and so much can and will happen before we start playing for keeps. I saw the Spurs vs Rocketts game last year in San Antonio and I wasnt 100% happy. First, Parking is a little far from the actual stadium, and although the closer lots are empty, they force you to go to the furtherst ones! The place itself is ok, as soon as you walk in the door you can see the court. We were in a suite and they really treat you well there. The food was really good and they even have binoculars for you to watch the game.. The game was Ok, the fact that I dont even remember who won can tell you how good it was. I guess I would watch them for free, but I dont see myself paying to attend a Spurs game. Sorry San Antonio. read more

Almost a decade ago, drinking at Lovejoys, I sarcastically responded to Julian, "San Antonio has a basketball team?" I liked the story of Tim Duncan and David Robinson getting along without egos clashing, and even after they won a title, a lot of people were saying it was luck. I love the emphasis on team. There is a core now, but the first couple of titles there was a lot of change in the line-ups at key spots. Now they have won four and people still say it is luck because they haven't won two in a row. Hmm. I enjoy the overwhelming desire for this team to fail. The corporate media wants a superman. One word stars like Shaq, Kobe, LeBron and Nash. Guess what, you are stuck with, and will always have, teams that win in the long run. When all is said and done and it comes time to consider the greatest basketball teams of all time, I'll take the 2007 Spurs team over any Shaq, Kobe, Bird, Magic, or Jordan led team. I'd love to see Jordan try to get by Bowen and have to deal with Timmy in the middle. I love this team... the unselfishness...the modesty. I just read an article today in the NY Times about Lebron James meeting with Jay-Z to discuss his desire to become the first ever billionaire athlete. What an a-hole. It's no wonder they were swept in the finals. It's attitudes like this that sink teams, but sell shoes (just ask Starbury). G*dd*mned Spurs! Crush me twice in Game 7 of the NBA Finals - first by beating my hometown Pistons in 2005 then by losing to the Heat this year. The Spurs I always considered what Walter from The Big Lebowski would call "a worthy f*cking adversary". I hated that they beat the Pistons, but liked that they were the Western Conference's version of the Pistons. Gritty, unglamorous, a real team as opposed to a coddled core of Superstars surrounded by hired guns, fundamentally sound, from an overlooked market and seemingly disliked by David Stern and his minions. Some people might call these teams dirty. Me, I loved that low-rated 7-game Pistons/Spurs series. Everything but the end. Well, all these years later my once-proud Detroit Pistons of Auburn Hills are but a shadow of their former selves. (I'm holding out on my Yelp review for the foreseeable future, hoping they'll claw their way back into being contenders.) But somehow the Spurs still roll on in the NBA fast lane, beating and banging with the league's elite, still doing it with their "Big 3" of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. And Popovich is still at the helm, poised to outlast his old buddy David Stern. It's pretty damned impressive. So this year, unlike last year, or the year before, I didn't just root against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. I rooted for the San Antonio Spurs because they're the San Antonio Spurs. I wanted to throttle Ginobili for throwing away the ball the same way I used to want to throttle 'Sheed for blowing his stack and getting an ill-advised tech. And the Spurs damn near won it all, but couldn't quite get it done, getting a grown man all bummed about some bunch of millionaire jocks he's never met. Good job, Spurs. So congratulations San Antonio on a class act basketball team, an enduring Dynasty even if they're not hoisting the big trophy this year. Great players, admirable people, always a good game

Being a sports fan isn't all fun and games. Like anything else in society, there are unspoken rules of conduct that must be abided by. Without these rules, the team/fan relationship would erode. Chaos would ensue. One of these rules is that you must have 1 team that you follow per professional sport. There is nothing lamer than that "die-hard" New York Yankees fan who also loves the Mets or vice versa. Or the Rangers/Islanders fan. Or the Giants fan who also loves the Patriots. Really?! Having a relationship with a team throughout the season is what makes being a fan such a great thing. There are, of course, rare exceptions to this rule. Sometimes a team outside of your hometown seduces you and although you may try to fight it, you just can't quit 'em. You find that rare balance that some polygamist families in Utah have found. Loving 2 teams in the same sport. Imagine that. The San Antonio Spurs have become that proverbial second wife for me. The Spurs are Nicki and Margene rolled into one, for those of us who watch Big Love and my relationship with Barb (the Wizards if you follow the analogy) hasn't suffered one bit. The Spurs were the first professional team I have witnessed go from "worst to first". 20 wins in 1996, 56 wins in 1997. At the time it was the biggest turnaround in NBA history. As much as I love and respect the Mailman, Sir Charles, Kevin McHale, Dirk Nowitzki and the Big Ticket, in my humble opinion Tim Duncan is the best power forward to ever play the game and just like when we talk about Wayne Gretzky, Jerry Rice, or Babe Ruth in their respective sports, there are no close seconds. In a sport riddled with so many inept franchises, the Spurs are the closest thing that we have to a dynasty in this post-Michael Jordan NBA wilderness. They draft extremely well. Getting Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli with the 28th and 57th overall pick respectively. Are you kidding me?! It wasn't too long ago that every NBA Draft was littered with asinine comments about how European players' skills wouldn't translate to the NBA and it was "risky" to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on them. Really?! Tony Parker has been one of the best point guards in the league for 8 years and Ginobli is the best 6th man I've ever seen in 20 years of watching basketball. The Spurs consistently make good trades and are always able to sign great free agents that fit into their system seamlessly. Richard Jefferson, Robert Horry, Bruce Bowen, Steve Kerr, etc. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Greg Poppovich. In the 2003 Western Conference Finals, when all of the talking heads said that no team could compete against the Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, and the Zen Master, Popp composed a brilliant game plan and, like the talented conductor he is, orchestrated a 28 point blowout of the "unbeatable" Lakers in Los Angeles to send a weeping Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher home fishing. When these same talking heads proclaimed that nobody could slow down the media anointed "King" James and company, the Spurs put on an absolute clinic on how to play team defense in this current superstar-friendly NBA, sweeping the Cavs in 4 laughers. Speaking of defense, how great was the Pistons/Spurs Finals series of 2006? While this may have not have scored high on the Nielson ratings, this was some of the best basketball I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Two unselfish, well-coached, extremely deep teams who play defense, rebound, box out, and move the ball on every possession. If the Wizards and Spurs met in the NBA Finals, there would be no question where my loyalty would lie. Everybody would also know that I had sold my soul to the Devil to make this improbable event happen. I'm a diehard DC fan that will always love the Bullets but following the Spurs has made my "marriage" to the NBA much better. read more

I am desperate for some help in getting the jersey I paid for back in the beginning of December of 2020. I ordered 2 jerseys, a Murray jersey and a Walker IV. I received an email in late February that both jersey had shipped. When we received the package, only the Murray jersey was there. I've emailed countless times, I called the La Cantera fan store and was treated horribly - hung up on and blocked, called and left messages that went unreturned and when my son was finally able to talk to a human being he was told to wait until this past Monday - if the jersey didn't come by then there was a problem. Of course - the jersey didn't show up. I came here to air my grievances because honestly they just don't seem to care once they have your money. Whoever runs the merchandising for the Spurs, as well as your employees at LaCantera, are not good stewards of the Spurs brand. I have had issues in the past with this same department and took a chance that maybe they got better in the intervening years - boy was I wrong. I ordered a Jersey a month ago. The status still says being fulfilled last updated... nov 10 the day I purchased it. Today I call customer service and the lady puts me on hold for 20 mins (wish I was exaggerating) and comes back to tell me, "I sent an escalation they will either refund you or go ahead and fulfill the order".... I said ok whats the turn around time when should I know something.. she said idk I just sent the escalation. Well that is not good enough it has been a month now. I ask for a Manager/Supervisor she said ok I will send up an escalation and someone will call you back.. again I ask when she said idk I just send up the escalation and hangs up on me....wtf I call back and the lady while I am telling her why I want to speak with someone now and not be escalated she also hangs up on me.
