SATCO is a straight to it taco company. The restaurant is self serve but also has a couple of staff members moving around to help/restock. The menu is printed on paper and you make what you want and take it to the cash register to order/pay. Food. The fresh and light homemade tortillas are 10/10 and make the tacos. I enjoy them all but chicken is my favorite. You also have to get The queso. It is a thicker yellow queso that gets its flavored from Texas, hence the same, San Antonio. Great fast casual restaurant with a strong bar vibe. The line was super quick but the process did throw me off a little. The process is unique as you check off what you want on a piece of paper and bring it to checkout where they put in your order. Total dive, but worth a stop if you can find parking. You'll order off a piece of paper at the counter, no pressure to stand in line. The restaurant is clean and there was someone walking around constantly cleaning off tables as soon as someone got up, she pre-bussed our table so much we started to feel like she was pushing us out even though it was pretty dead inside so our seats weren't needed. The food is good, but I wouldn't say amazing for the price that you pay. Tacos were dry but I feel like that's 90% the homemade tortillas. Sour cream is served in packets and we didn't venture to the salsa bar, but as I'm typing this I'm regretting that since it probably would've helped the tacos not be so dry. Will I go back? This was such a shock, I went there 9/18 and carried a friend and her first experience and I wanted something old school that I had been going to over the last 30 years. The chicken taco one was full of bones and the second the chicken was dry and overcooked like a piece of Bacon. Her Enchilada plate was just awful rice dry like gravel and maybe 3 pieces of chicken in the sauce. The Queso dip was lumpy like cold Velvetta cheese. I like the fish tacos a lot as it doesn't taste fishy and has light breading and the tartar sauce definitely seals the deal. I opted to add guacamole on it and for the fish tacos, I would get it without guacamole because the tartar sauce is good alone with it. I love that they have a salsa bar for your chips with different heat levels. Satco is such a classic Nashville establishment. They have a convenient paper checklist ordering system, which you fill out and give to the cashier. Each taco is customizable and whatever toppings you want can be added for a very small fee, such as lettuce, cheese, tomato, etc. They have a complimentary pico and salsa bar too. I really liked the enchilada plate, which also has rice and beans. The tacos were okay, I thought the chicken was a little dry but I enjoyed the bean and cheese taco and chili taco. Made a return visit after all these years. If you come back expect inflation prices. I noticed that the sheets no longer showed the price of the items (unless my memory is bad and they never did, but I could have sworn they showed the price) I got 3 regular ground beef tacos, a drink, chips and queso. The total was $18.95 I know inflation is wild and all but that seemed a bit high. I also seem to remember the queso being way better than this. The queso I had today was very similar to molten velvetta with a hint of salsa added. I'm torn with this place because the food is good, but it was hit or miss for some. The tacos are similar to taco Bell sized soft tacos and the crunchy tacos were full, but it says they recommend two toppings, but yet charge for all toppings. And I get it's only .25 a topping (sour cream is .40), but you should have two complimentary toppings like lettuce, tomato, or cheese and then charge for the onions, peppers, etc. Otherwise, it's just an expensive taco. The enchilada plate was very cheesy and saucy. Don't get me wrong, that is not a bad thing. But, it was a bit sloppy albeit tasty. I wouldn't get it again though. The beans were tasty though. Bean and cheese taco did it for me. Very tasty! The queso was good and you have a salsa bar with pico and salsa. The staff were friendly as all get out though. Very welcoming and friendly all around. What a great taco spot. You walk in and there are order sheets for your taco order. There were beef steak, chicken, pulled pork and fish tacos with options on what you want in your taco. Note - soft tacos were flour so you need to be explicit if you want hard, corn tortillas. There were four of us and we consolidated our four orders on one sheet. There system is really optimized for 1, maybe 2, people per order. We spent some time trying to figure out which tacos were which....not a biggie but individual orders would have been more efficient. You order and they call your name on the form when ready to pick up at the counter. Our sides were chips with yellow queso (yum!) and chips with guacamole. Queso was classic, kinda Velveeta flavor and it was excellent. Guacamole had a nice spice in it which made it very unique. Another note - you won't see chips and salsa on the order form. Order chips and there is a salsa station on the side. Nice bottled beer set of options. The service was absolutely fantastic - very nice people. The food tastes good, but the workers leave out items in to-go orders on a regular basis. For example, this past order was missing 5 queso's and 1 large ranch. They didn't drain the meat much so my 3rd taco I ate with a spoon. Lol. Tried the pico and salsa--didn't like either one. To me they were just chopped peppers, onion, and tomato. No salt, no lime. Queso is yellow cheese. Not bad but I'm used to white cheese. Pretty good flavor and the chips were awesome. Wish the pico or salsa had been better to go with those chips. Definitely will go again for tacos only if in the area. I won't bother with salsa, pico or cheese dip. Friendly, interactive service and fast paced environment. Thank goodness for the signs because if you blink- you'll miss this little place of goodness!! Menu is very simple and I love that it was tailored to what you and your tastebuds wanted. For a first timer tho the ordering can be hard to understand, but grab a pad and pencil they supply and start marking away!!! I had the chicken enchiladas and Mexican rice!!! So good it "made me wanna slap my momma!" Hubs had the steak fajita, chicken fajita and taco. He loved them. We both however didn't care for the queso Sorry y'all but queso is special. I met an old friend for lunch here. She spent many year in Dallas and I know I can count on her Tex Mex recommendations! You have to know what you're expecting here- fast, Texan, and tacos. It can be a little overwhelming. As you walk in, there are paper notepad menus and pencils. Fill in your order and have it ready to present to the cashier. By the time you've filled your fountain sweet tea, your name will be called and your tacos will be ready. It's a well oiled machine, so don't be the stray cog that gets the system all screwed up! I got a pork soft taco and a crunchy taco and my friend and I shared guacamole and queso at the table. I loved the Texan yellow queso, it was delicious. A staff member noticed us bringing home some leftover queso and guacamole and gave us a bag of chips to go along! It's not a fancy place- if you're looking to impress a date or show off your high fallutin' city life to your hometown friends, this is not the establishment. I'm a sucker for good tacos, and I'm from Texas, so I was skeptical that I could get good tacos this far to the north and east. I ordered a bean and cheese taco, because bean and cheese is a good baseline. The taco was delicious, and you could tell that they make their tortillas on-site (or rather, you could tell that they were fresh). I also got chile con queso, and it was satisfying to me as a native Texan. The queso could perhaps have been a bit spicier, but that is an exceedingly minor nitpick. I also had a soft beef taco not because I ordered it, but because my friends' children had eyes bigger than their stomachs. It was likewise quite tasty. I've been driving by SatCo for years. Yesterday, I was craving queso, and SatCo was rated highly by the Queen of Queso (Delia Jo Ramsey), so off we went. It's an "order at the counter" place; you order, snag a table, and then wait for them to call your name. The menu is not huge; tacos, enchiladas, salads, apps. We ordered 2 beef soft tacos, 2 crispy beef tacos, 2 soft "chili" tacos, 2 fish tacos, chips and queso, guac, and a drink. $45 plus tip. The crispy beef taco was the taco of my youth. Thing, crispy corn shell, mildly spiced ground beef, lettuce and shredded cheddar. (They charged $0.25 per taco extra for tomatoes). The soft beef taco was better; the flour tortilla looked homemade (or at least not a Sysco product). We ordered a "tube" of sour cream ($0.35) to dress the taco; it was a good add. The chili taco was a bust; the filling was neither taco beef nor chili; I don't think it knew what it wanted to be. The fish taco was a winner; the fish was crispy, light, greaseless and sweet. It came with a light mayo based dressing. I could eat about 10 of them. The queso was perfect; warm, cheesy, thick and flavorful. The guac was good as well. Next time, I'd order only soft beef tacos and fish tacos, with a side of queso. Recommended for a solid lunch in the Vandy/21st area read more

I was a bit confused because they have multiple papers with pencils then a menu at the register. Assuming you ordered at the register I waited and when the gentleman asked how he could help me I was about to talk when he abruptly started talking and pointed his finger in my face to fill out on of the forms. I filled it out handed it to him and paid. I ordered each of the tacos with onions and green peppers to be added besides the bean and cheese I got. They called my name to grab my tacos and when I opened them I was simply appalled. The portion of meat on each taco was so minuscule that I had more green pepper and onions than I did meat. The bean and cheese was the only thing that actually filled the tortilla (go figure). The quality of the food was sub par and the service was all right. I read on reports that the service and the food is a hit and miss. Sadly this was a big miss and let down since I wanted to get a feel of home with this food. They charge you for a taco, then proceed to charge you for every individual component that make up the fucking taco you've already payed for.
