Whoa! I was a bit hesitant to hire a handyman from Yelp since it seems like many of them have…read morereviews from yelpers who have no friends or very minimal reviews. But Yelp hasn't steered me wrong just yet, so I compiled a list of the most loved Handymen and started going down the line. It turns out though that the most sought after handymen were all booked out until Jan. I was getting a little anxious and worried since we only had a 30 day window to make some modifications in the kitchen for Home Depot to come back out and install our appliances we had purchased. I sent a "request for quote" on yelp and Fabian from FD Handyman Services got back to me letting me know they would be able to take care of everything. He sent Giovanni out a couple days later. This was the list of items he took care of: 1. The cabinet above the current microwave is measured at 28.5 from the cooktop, but needs to be raised up to 30 inches 2. The current oven was hardwired, but the new oven requires a 220v outlet installed 3. The previous owners put in the countertop and hardwood floors around the current dishwasher, so the dishwasher cutout is measured at 33.5. The new one requires a 34 inch opening. The countertop trim would need to be cut a .5 in order to get the dishwasher installed. 4. The current dishwasher is directly connected to the garbage disposal, the new one requires an air gap to be installed 5. The hot water angle stop valve was corroded and needed to be replaced 6. The refrigerator line was still connected to the old plastic tube, but we need to switch it out to the steel line and the cold water valve also needed to be replaced It took him about 7 hours to complete the entire list above. He cleaned up after himself well and was really friendly. I came home a couple days later and prepped for Home Depot to come by and install the appliances. I was checking out the wires under the sink when I saw that it was leaking! I had a mini heart attack. Giovanni was able to pick up the parts and get to my house about 1.5 hours later. He got it all fixed up. A couple other items had to be corrected, but he made sure to test everything again before leaving. We're still satisfied with the service Giovanni provided us and will be calling him back for future projects!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were hired to sand and refinish our dark hickory floors and ended up…read moredamaging them beyond repair. Hector showed up the first day or two to get his guys started then dropped the ball on checking their work after that. Well, they managed to scrape the seams between planks incorrectly and ended up splintering and shredding them. There are chopped up, broken sharp edges between planks and visibly jagged edges. They used some kind of a knife or tool that, when it would catch the grain of the wood, slipped and gouged across planks so deep they cannot be fixed. They left debris and splinters on the surface before putting the stain and first coat of sealant, so you can feel it when you walk on the floors - and socks catch/snag from the sharp edges. I'm so disgusted that this is what we ended up with. We didn't have the budget to replace all our flooring in the first place, so we trusted him to refinish them... and now we are back to square one. Fortunately we were able to stop the second payment we'd given him as soon as we saw the damage but he is refusing to refund us the first payment - and now we will have to seek repayment for full damages to be able to pay to replace the flooring. Oh, and to add insult to injury they broke the toilet on day 1 when removing it (we had to buy a new one - they would not pay for it) AND we did our part of staying out of the work area so we were stuck being out of the main part of our home for 7 days. They didn't even seal off the work area or contain the dust properly - they did not use a bag on their sander so it has taken 4 days just to clean the dust off the walls, ceilings, out of air ducts - even inside closed cabinets that they draped cheap plastic over. They had a pile of tools, trash, and debris on an uncovered carpet by our front door the whole time even though I asked one of the workers to pick it up. They left trash bags full of dust and debris in the planter area outside our house for 5 days even though I asked a worker to get it removed. This has been the biggest nightmare and it still isn't over.

He met with my husband and determined that the GFCI we had purchased was faulty, which explained why it didn't work. He also noticed that our voltage is "older," so we shouldn't overload the outlets with too many items. One outlet was powering about eight devices, which he said was far too much for a single outlet. Hopefully, after moving some items around, this won't happen again. We're due for an upgrade and some additional fixes, and I'd definitely call Daniel back for that work as well!
