This is our go-to to when visiting San Clemente. It is convenient, clean, and close to everything we need. The beach, grocery store, freeway, shops and restaurants. Never ridiculously overpriced even during the busy season. Customer service is always so kind, and accommodating as best as they can. Having a kitchenette is such a help. Dishes, utensils glasses pans dish soap included. We have been coming here for at least 20 years and have never been disappointed. We don't need fancy, just convenience and comfort. I do wish our door lock had a hotel upper lock, our toddler could easily open the door on her own. Not sure why that isn't in place. Overall another great experience. read more

The location in San Clemente is great, walking and driving distance to beaches, highways, etc. I wanted to like this place but for the price, there were too many issues to overlook. The entire property is funky, it is 3 floors but the only elevator is in the lobby and that only connects you from the lobby to the game room and pool. I assume there must be ADA / accesible rooms, but all of the other hotel rooms require dragging suitcases up and down stairs. I saw many families with small kids and older people carrying heavy suitcases, wagons, strollers, ice chests, and luggage up and down stairs. Our room was covered with ants from the very first day, specifically in the kitchen and the shower. We told the front desk and asked if they had any sort of remedy, they were not surprised and acknowledged that this was typical during certain times of the year and offered no solution. The Murphy beds also have dust and hair behind them once you pull them down and I felt itchy the entire stay. The blow dryer did not work, I let the front desk know and they said they would bring one up. We waited a while, never got it, but asked an employee in the hall and he alerted the maintenance person who was very nice and said he would come by at some point to look at it and replace it, which he did. Our stay was for 5 nights, which had been paid for in full in and in advance at least a month ahead. On the third day of our stay, we got a call from the front desk letting us know that we had failed to check out on time and we needed to stop by the front desk asap to give them credit card information. For some reason, the hotel had our reservation as two separate reservations and needed a card to run, even though they said we would be in the same room and did not have to pack our stuff and move. We told the front desk staff that we would be back at the end of the day and were told to get there by 3:30pm since that was when her shift ended. We had traveled over an hour out, so had to turn around and get back to the hotel. We also double checked our hotel confirmations and bank statements - we had paid in full and confirmed one room for the entire stay. When we returned, our room keys and parking pass were deactivated which was a pain since we couldn't get into our room, one of us went and talked to the front desk. All they had to do was reissue new room keys. None of it made sense, but the hotel had also passed out flyers that same Sunday morning offering a raffle drawing for guests that checked out earlier than check out time since they were so busy with Sunday checkouts. Maybe they were under-staffed or over booked, but either way it is tacky to ask guests to check out early. The rooms are dingy and dated, the appliances like the dishwasher, hair dryer and microwave are very old and don't work, the air conditioner did not always work, WiFi also not work consistently. We were not able to get the tv working to sign into Netflix or Hulu even though it showed it as an option. As for the plumbing, there was a sewage-y smell in the sink and shower and on the third day of our stay we noticed multiple emergency plumbing trucks attending to something and definitely smelled sewage-like water. In order to play pool / shuffle board - you have to go to the front desk and give a room key and you can only play one game at a time so back and forth if you want to play different games. Pool and hot tub were nice, lobby had colorful furniture and a Keurig machine. The restaurant is okay, but did not offer breakfast and does not open until 11am, restaurant also seemed in a hurry to close by 8pm on the weekend and put drinks in to-go cups without asking. We asked the front desk where we could buy basic things like water bottles and snacks, and the front desk directed us to a vending machine that was sold out of water bottles and many other items. For the price of over $350 a night, our stay was comparable to a motel at best and the rooms just felt dirty and run down. Apparently this property is made up of time shares, so maybe some of the rooms are nicer than others or more accessible, but the actual hotel or inn rooms seem very dated and dirty. This Inn was quite lovely. The lobby is spacious with comfy sofas and chairs. There is a restaurant in the lobby that looks onto the pool. Susan assisted me with my check in my room wasn't ready when we arrived. Check in is at 4:00PM and my room was finally ready for me at 4:15. Anthony helped me with my key and mapping out where it was. My room had 1 Queen size bed, a small kitchenette with a fridge, a small dining table, 2 matching chairs and a bathroom with a walk in shower stall. My stay for one night was good. My only gripe was having to wait well past check in for my room and that check out is at 10:00 am. *It would be nice if check in was at 3pm/check out @11am *They charge $25 per day to park (which they add to your bill when you get there) Just wondering why parking is not free? Its very cute hotel.. seems recently renovated. I love the balcony to have breakfast in the morning overlooking the recreation area - such a breathtaking view. The parking cost $25 it seems average nowadays. The parking space is accommodating not hard to find parking spaces. The staff are SUPER kind, nice, friendly, helpful and attentive. Something wrong with our door lock and the maintenance came and fix almost immediately. The location is conveniently located near the restaurant. And the beach also very close- we didn't get a chance to go because it was pouring rain that day. read more

We attended a wedding at the historic cottage, so this is the closest hotel. This hotel is definitely a no-frills type of place. The rooms were a good size and you were located right by the beach, but we did notice there was mold in the shower and when we notified the operations manager at checkout, we are not really sure if anything was remediated and nothing was offeredto us at that point. The hotel itself gives some nice coastal beach vibes, but definitely do not expect Marriott quality hotel rooms. It is a little outdated. The check-in process was very smooth. read more

I would definitely not recommend if you're looking for modern comfort. The pool area and other amenities were decent. Super friendly & courteous staff. They made my family feel welcomed & at home. My family of 6 all had a bed to sleep in comfortably & enjoyed the mini golf, the pool, playing air hockey, shuffle board & playing pool. The rooms were clean & there were plenty of clean towels & blankets during our stay. Perfect place for our visit to Legoland & the San Juan Capistrano Mission. Since Covid, we continue to be disappointed with the continuing lack of pleasant accommodations and amenities that we have enjoyed in the good old days. There have been multiple management changes, with more emphasis on soliciting for "Member Owners" than pleasing loyal annual attenders. I was shocked that a week long reservation that I had made in February for a top-tier (Crest) apartment on the customary east side of the complex was not honored...for any of the three floors. Instead, for the second time in the last three years, we were placed in a much smaller unit (still billed as top-tier) on the much less desirable SW side of facility. Very disappointing. And now....a new slap...we are charged $25 per night to park? What?! I will say that it is still a pleasure to see Susan every summer at the front desk; and the young people (specifically Joshua and Alex) that work alongside her (and moderate the daily site events) are delightful. Still, as an annual faithful attendee for the last 50 odd years, dating back to when my parents owned a timeshare....we feel we deserve better consideration. read more

SO bad! I'm sad I didn't look on Yelp prior to booking this place. Somehow it has excellent reviews on Expedia? Are they paying people to write those? Right when I pulled in, I knew I made a mistake. It's super old and run down. The lady checking me in told me they could not check me in without my husband's ID? They also said they could not refund me the cost since my husband wasn't with me? It was all a miscommunication in the end/wrong info but it didn't put me in the best mood. The room smells bad and has A TON of gnats. I called the front desk and they said there is nothing they can do about the gnats. It's dirty and you can actually see the dirt on the couches. I'm nervous about bringing home bugs or something from this hotel, it's that bad. I paid $250 for a room here. Never again! read more

San Clemente Inn did not disappoint. The exterior of this place reminds me of simpler days in this city, bringing back the warmth and nostalgia of the past. Once you open the doors to this property, you are transported into a beautiful resort world. The amount of amenities that you can do with your family or guests is more than what most Inn's I have been to have. From pool tables, air hockey and swimming pools to BBQ grills and "free" dvd rentals when you want to relax in the room. The rooms are fully equipped to cook for your long stays but quaint restaurants are approximately a mile away. The beach is within walking distance down the hill. The San Clemente Outlets are close by to shop. I discovered this place last week for a two day stay and loved it so much that I came back for 3 days this week. I will definitely keep this place in my "go to" list of places to stay and look forward to coming back! read more

Don't even want to give them a #1 review. -5 would be better. Very bad condition and this was the Deluxe room. Smelled really bad too. Corrosion all around the shower and grout very dark/dirty. toilet seat was very loose. Sliding glass doors lock was broken so they sent maintain up to stick a pin up top for safety. Note pad with pen that is left for occupants had scribbles on it (that tells me cleaning people don't clean well). Kitchen sink was very dirty. Murphy beds were all chipped around the edges. It looked nothing like the "Deluxe" room pictures on their website. I should have taken more pictures but just wanted to get out of the room. Never even stayed the night. Fighting now to get our $ back. They charged my full 13 night stay in advance. I have disputed this charge on my credit card. Ps. Woman named Susan at the front desk was VERY rude when I was trying to get in touch with Denise, the operations manager (Who never returned my phone calls by the way). read more

This place has paper thin walls and you can hear everything from the freeway traffic to the chairs dragging on the hard wood floors from the room above and the neighbors talking next door. The rooms smell musty and the place is very dated and needs an overhaul. I would not recommend staying here unless you have no choice. My husband and I were invited by a dear friend to her timeshare at the Inn. It was a delightful week's experience. Our 1 BR was clean, orderly, stocked well and no unusual or funky odors. The San Clement Inn's staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The highlight of our dining was Riviera Restaurant. Their food, service and ambiance is exceptional. We had the best Eggs Benedict breakfast that I can remember in a very long time. My family and I planned a short 2 day stay August 2024. The room had filthy ac filters. I had to personally remove, clean, and dry them outside. The worst part was the toxic black mold on the bathroom ceiling. I suffer from lung issues and I was experiencing shortness of breath, chest pains, dizziness, abdominal cramps, and bloating since we got into our room. Avoid this place unless you want your family getting sick. We went to the front desk to show them the picture of the black mold. We got a different room. One of bathrooms in the new room smells like sulfur and they clearly painted over some black mold on that ceiling. The 2nd bathroom had a roach coming out of the wall. read more

We booked two rooms for three people for one night in December 2024. but arrived in one car. The charge was supposed to be $25/day for parking. They charged us for two parking spots, even though we arrived in one car. I contacted the San Clemente Inn attempting to get a credit of $25.00. They were supposed to follow but did not get back to me. When I attempted to recontact them I could not reach anyone during normal business hours. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company. My recommendation: Don't stay here! read more

As we entered the lobby, it had the distinct aroma of cologne from Abercrombie and Fitch. Our room was outdated 1960's decor. There were mystery stains on the couch, and the entire floor felt like it was covered with sand. When I cleaned up some water on the floor, the kleenex was black. The murphy beds were lumpy, and we had trouble getting the cable to work. Fortunately, a kind young man from the front desk came and rebooted it for us. My son found blood spatter stains on the sheets of the queen bed. There wasn't any instructions for the coffee maker so I winged it. The coffee in the lobby was only available during limited hours. In addition, we had to pay $25.00 per car for parking, and we're required to wear these tacky wrist bands to identify us as guests. We may have done better at a Motel 6 (where the parking is free!). Disappointing. It is not common that I leave a review on the first night of a stay but there is already plenty to write about, unfortunately. The day prior to our arrival, I called to confirm our lodging arrangements. We had booked a 6-person, 1 bedroom unit but the agent told me he only had us down for a 4-person unit. He said he was going to call management, resolve the matter, and call me back. We arrived at 6:45 p.m. today only to discover that we were still booked for a 4-person unit. The front-desk staff seemed perplexed about what to do but eventually figured out that a call to RCI was what was needed to correct the reservation. About 20 - 30 minutes after our arrival, the issue was resolved. We arrived at our cozy room and immediately had concerns about the sleeping accommodations for our party of five adults and one child. We contemplated booking a second unit but decided the cost was not worth it. Upon opening the sofa bed, we discovered sheets, blankets and pillows were missing. My wife called the front desk to alert them of the issue. After about a 45 minute wait, I called back and the person on staff acted as though the previous call had not been received and asked if I could come to the front desk and pick up the items. I would have done that 45 minutes earlier if I had known that was what was needed to resolve the problem. We had originally booked this space for 7 days but are planning to leave after 5 days. Hopefully, our group won't go too crazy in these cramped accommodations. We do not plan to book this place again. read more

Had a wonderful weekend at the San Clemente Inn. Lots of things to do right at the venue from Pickleball, minature golf, pool and spas. The room came equipped with stove, diswasher and frig. The grounds were well kept and everything looked fresh and new. I would go back again. read more

Customer service is terrible. I went to front desk first thing and the individual who worked the desk seemed aggravated when I shared the issues with ants. She stated, well the hotel sits on an ant field. I had two rooms two nights reserved. I was good to pay for the other room, but didn't think I should have to pay for a terrible customer experience for the loss of sleep and the ant bites. Scott at the front desk was very helpful and the facilities are nice for anyone with kids...pool with a separate kids spa, mini golf, game room and even a pickleball court. We are owners and every year we have a horrible experience. I wish it would get better but it NEVER does. We have seen this place trashy with kids running around unsupervised, jumping over railings and running wild- throwing rocks. When we told the front desk, we got nothing! Another year, they didn't put any caution signs up that they were watering the front and I couldn't see the water as it blended with the colored walkway. I slipped and severely sprained my ankle! Their insurance covered my medical but still why didn't they take steps to prevent this? This delightful trip, my husband got food poisoning from the restaurant at the facility and things were not working in the room. When I told the front desk that we needed a lightbulb because the bedroom light(s) didn't work, he said he was too busy and may get to it later! His exact words!! We have no light in the bedroom!!! I asked if I could get the light bulb at the front desk. He laughed and said sure! I went down and he gave me the wrong bulbs. When I told him, he said, we'll just take a lamp from the lobby!! No lie!! I had to remove a lamp from the lobby to get light in the bedroom!! This is just horrible and it never seems to get better!!! Take caution in purchasing a timeshare from here!! read more

What used to be a family friendly , customer service friendly resort has turned into an unfriendly , over priced gestapo style hotel. I have been coming here for 40 years. We have always taken one evening to celebrate, birthdays, with a barbecue and cake. We always invite both sets of grandparents to attend for the evening. A total of two hours this visit, they were not allowing any guests at all. We were celebrating our great granddaughter's fourth birthday. The security guard was not nice about his approach, and when I went in to ask for an exception was told it was out of their hands. That they could not make any exceptions because of the new management company. Just this weeks visit was at the cost of about $10,000. And they would not allow a set of grandparents to stay for two hours for dinner. Needless to say my family no longer wants to come here. It is a shame after coming here for 40 years it is more important to be family friendly, consumer aware, then it is to have strict rules That make visitors feel uncomfortable and restricted. I would not recommend coming here. The prices of also gone up the cost of a sleep six here is more than the cost of a sleep six and a five star resort. It is very sad to see a family tradition is stripped away by a management company. read more

Most of the rooms have been refinished over the last few years but there are still some (like ours) that have carpet from the 1980s. Make sure at check in you request a room that's been refinished. Good bbq areas, two spas but both are small, nice heated pool and great spot for the kids to play mini golf or cornhole. The beach is about 2/10 of a mile down hill and is walkable but coming home is all uphill. The restaurant is now open and gets great reviews but we didn't have time to try it. Good value for South Orange County. read more

My dad recently had bladder cancer surgery, my grandma's in her 80's and my mom would ask Maria how much longer. In the span of one week, we had a major power outage for hours, hot water out, disgusting cleanliness issues such as dead bugs behind the beds and roach killer in the kitchen cabinet with pots and pans, all to finish off with a major plumbing issue in our building that caused us to have to move rooms. The GM, Lisa, was extremely rude during our interactions with her throughout the week, reminding us that things were "not her fault" and doing very little to help remedy problems. Not even an apology for all the things we had to deal with. The rooms are outdated, dirty, and have no views of anything besides walls and parking lots. We will NEVER stay here again and will encourage others to find better accommodations. read more

We stayed here for one night on the weekend when we visited San Clemente for a quick weekend getaway. Rooms are decent, small tv, our stove only had one burner that worked. The beds were comfortable. Large and free parking. Our complaint was that we were planning to bbq outdoors, the hotel has a nice seating areas with grills next to the pool, however, the grills are CHACOAL! We didn't bring any and i personally never cooked with charcoal, its just messy business. So that was quite disappointing dinner experience. On a positive note, the staff was nice and helpful, kids had fun at the pool. The check out time is quite early 10 am and they don't really do late check out. read more

We stayed here on a whim on a quick weekend to San Clemente. We love San Clemente because it's a gorgeous beach with a small town vibe and no crowds!!! San Clemente Inn is what it is. Nice lobby, convenient location, courteous front desk, basic amenities in the room. It's geared for families as there is a small kitchen, fridge, utensils, microwave and cook top. Murphy beds and two tv's. Perfect for families with kids. We got a great deal on our room and they even upgraded us because our room was next to a noisy family. The huge negative about San Clemente Inn is that check out is at 10 am. They charge $50 AN HOUR for any additional time you stay! I am posting this so that in case you're staying there and you're not aware you don't get stuck with a huge bill. Overall, I do recommend San Clemente Inn.
