When I go to a man bar I don't want to be smothered in open toe biaches. Go away. You aren't wanted. You can't appreciate it.

What I truly appreciate is how inclusive it is; when they say "all are welcome," they genuinely mean it. You feel like part of the community the moment you step through the door, no matter who you are. The folks working behind the bar are absolute superstars. They're not just great at mixing up a delicious drink, but they're also super friendly and always up for a bit of banter. It's the kind of place where striking up a conversation with someone new at the bar is effortless. There's a constant buzz of friendly chatter and laughter, making it such a wonderful place to just relax and be yourself. And let's talk about value - they truly know how to pour a proper drink, and their prices are incredibly fair. You definitely get a fantastic drink without feeling like you've splurged. It's just an all-around great spot to unwind, meet some cool people, and enjoy a top-notch beverage in a relaxed, friendly setting. Highly recommend giving The Loft a visit!

Situated on 5th Avenue in beautiful Hillcrest, The Loft is a small, but mighty place that is near and dear to my heart for a variety of reasons. From the bartenders, to the patrons, and of course the drinks...this spot is an absolute vibe! Everyone is beyond welcoming and fun here. The space is a great combination of indoor/outdoor. The drinks are strong and well priced, which is not a combination you can find many places these days! They don't serve food, but they are fine if you want to bring your own, which many folks do. We have enjoyed a cocktail and UberEats'd something so we didn't have to leave. Overall, while I am not a San Diego local (yet), I consider The Loft my local spot. Love this place!

The atmosphere was lively, it was packed, and the music was great on a Saturday night. It felt really comfortable. It looked and felt trendy, especially with part of the bar being outdoors. The line was a bit long to get through, as I saw another review mentioned. This seemed normal though for any bar/club at a peak time on Saturday for us. When we got inside and saw another line though, which was for the bathroom, it was very long and seemed slow-moving. It honestly seemed ridiculously long. Given how packed it was though, it also made sense. The music felt as you would expect, but in a good way. That was the best part for us, coming out of town and pushing to give this place a try on a Saturday night. My partner and I were completely sober and still felt comfortable dancing and singing along to the music. It did feel packed like sardines, so I found myself paying attention to elbows and people constantly sifting through the crowd. If you can't stand crowded places, I would recommend coming earlier, or maybe not going at all to avoid any frustration. It's something I'd rather not deal with myself too, but got used to it festivals and concerts. I would definitely come back if I was in the mood next time I'm down here. I might want to visit while it's more chill and just grab a drink to chat with my fiancé or others. If I was tired and didn't want to deal with the crowd though, I can see myself skipping on going here and going another night. Unfortunately, I got pickpocketed and had my phone stolen on the night I happened to come in from out of town. The staff did their job to make sure they put in effort to take my information down incase my phone showed up. It was clearly stolen from me though, as my crossbody bag was behind me while dancing, and was fully unzipped when I left the bar. When I asked if this was common at this bar, they said it's just common at bars in general. They made an announcement about the pickpocketing soon after and I felt like they responded appropriately with consideration. It definitely made me feel better after having my phone stolen.

This review is for the Bingo Bonkers event that runs every Wednesday from 6-8 pm…read more I've always been a fan of Gossip Grill, and while the atmosphere for bingo night was great, the logistics were a bit of a rollercoaster. The decor is absolutely stunning. They have a cute flamingo neon lamp at every table when you're ready to order, you just turn it on! It's a great touch. Our host was Strawberry Corncakes and she was hilarious! She was very engaging and shared a lot of funny stories about herself that kept the crowd laughing. This felt like cashless event, so have your Venmo ready to tip the host. My friends arrived 15 minutes early, but the server didn't mention the 4-6 PM Happy Hour; when we asked at 6:00, we were told we'd missed it and the next one wasn't until 8:00. We ordered right at 6:00 PM, but food didn't hit the table until 6:45 PM. The room seemed understaffed with what seems like only one waitress and one server. Once it arrived, the food was actually very good. Our favorites were definitely the devil eggs of the month: Spam Musubi Deviled Eggs and the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. They advertised a $5 "Pussy Punch" special, but we were charged the full $7 on the bill. It's a small discrepancy, but it felt a little dishonest. Also, note that a 22% gratuity was automatically added for our party of six. Overall, I love the aesthetic and the talent, but I'm not sure if I'd come back specifically for bingo.

Return Pecs in my MBL Vest, yes!…read more This all inclusive Bear and Leather Bar is one I'd frequent for sure if I was a local and will return to again whenever I'm in San Diego. Double patios. Double Bars. Plenty of room. Great happy hour. Cool events including cigar socials, 90s music nights, themed nights, a pool table, good seating and great service. The happy hour beer special was stellar. $10 for a pitcher of Bud Light I shared with guy. Plus 90s Night with nostalgic classics for this made in the 80s baby, was 10 kinds of perfect. It's so easy going and chill here, but also very social and friendly at the same time. It reminds me a little of my home bar in North Hollywood, Los Angeles (The Bullet Bar). Bartenders are amazing (including Dutch who I remember from his days at Redwing) and I even got to reconnect with some of my SD friends I haven't seen in 7 years. Nor been into Pecs since 2018. I've been here during San Diego Pride in summer (July), causal hangs in the winter (like now) and a variety of fun things. We've been in a bit this weekend. Including on our way to tthe "Bad Bunny Bowl"! But also Go Seahawks! Nice bar eats when available. Veggie friendly. Website could use a little modernized tlc, but their IG and FB stay updated. Parking isn't your bestie, boyfriend, sir, or someone you know well lol, but the true locals recommend a ride share, early times and carpooling. We drove around on a Saturday night for quite a while and lucked into a sort of parking spot without restrictions. Restrooms are solid. Seating around the bar area and on the outskirts including a long beach or two fills up, but if you're patient something will open up. They typically card everyone at the door so please bring your non expired ID since no matter your age it's prohibited to serve adult beverages to anyone. Pecs does it's best to be a great bar so let's do our best to keep it that way. Open 12PM til Midnight daily, and until 2AM on Friday/Saturday.
