Fun, great bartenders and a nice, diverse crowd. Great bar for a Saturday night, was visiting from out of town and had a great time.

Return Pecs in my MBL Vest, yes! This all inclusive Bear and Leather Bar is one I'd frequent for sure if I was a local and will return to again whenever I'm in San Diego. Double patios. Double Bars. Plenty of room. Great happy hour. Cool events including cigar socials, 90s music nights, themed nights, a pool table, good seating and great service. The happy hour beer special was stellar. $10 for a pitcher of Bud Light I shared with guy. Plus 90s Night with nostalgic classics for this made in the 80s baby, was 10 kinds of perfect. It's so easy going and chill here, but also very social and friendly at the same time. It reminds me a little of my home bar in North Hollywood, Los Angeles (The Bullet Bar). Bartenders are amazing (including Dutch who I remember from his days at Redwing) and I even got to reconnect with some of my SD friends I haven't seen in 7 years. Nor been into Pecs since 2018. I've been here during San Diego Pride in summer (July), causal hangs in the winter (like now) and a variety of fun things. We've been in a bit this weekend. Including on our way to tthe "Bad Bunny Bowl"! But also Go Seahawks! Nice bar eats when available. Veggie friendly. Website could use a little modernized tlc, but their IG and FB stay updated. Parking isn't your bestie, boyfriend, sir, or someone you know well lol, but the true locals recommend a ride share, early times and carpooling. We drove around on a Saturday night for quite a while and lucked into a sort of parking spot without restrictions. Restrooms are solid. Seating around the bar area and on the outskirts including a long beach or two fills up, but if you're patient something will open up. They typically card everyone at the door so please bring your non expired ID since no matter your age it's prohibited to serve adult beverages to anyone. Pecs does it's best to be a great bar so let's do our best to keep it that way. Open 12PM til Midnight daily, and until 2AM on Friday/Saturday. read more

I would give the bar as 5 star rating except for Jasper. Apparently I looked like his ex 15+years ago, and I can't believe I looked like him now, but I ordered a Sprite and he refused to serve me. Almost 50 bucks for 2 top shelf Tito's cocktails each! No thanks! Bartender also did not have change for a 100 dollar bill and made it a big deal stating that he just started the shift and doesn't have change (well, make change)! Restrooms were disgusting as well. There's one urinal and one toilet with no locks on the door so it was very awkward.with others waiting. read more

If i could give it 0 stars I would. I was visiting SD from Atlanta and decided to make a stop at Pecs for a drink after a day at the park. As soon as my partner and I came in, the vibes from the bar tender were off. We proceed to order 2 long islands for us and paid. A gnat flew into my drink and I told the bartender and he was immediately visibly upset about it. I asked if he could remake my drink and he said 'I mean yeah but is that an actual bug?' Which was clearly sitting at the bottom of the drink. He takes the drinks and asks other people sitting at the bar if they could see a bug and he's making smart remakes the whole time. Now he's really upset and he toses the drink out and starts slamming things when fixing my second drink. The whole time throwing a tantrum like a little brat. Once my drink is ready he puts it in front of me and hands me a paper coaster and tells me to put it on top of my drink because he's not making me another if a bug gets in it. Miss Trevor was nothing but rude, mean and miserable. I heard someone call him Trevor. I am never coming back to this establishment. He's clearly a racist as my partner and I are men of color and there's no other reason as we weren't rude or demanding towards him. My cousins and I had a disappointing experience at Pecs Bar that left us feeling judged and unwelcome. We were originally heading home when one of my cousins decided he wanted to stop and check out Pecs for a quick drink -- so we turned back and went in. At the entrance, the security guard with the black beard let a guy in who admitted he didn't have an ID. The guard literally said, "You guys don't have ID?" and still waved them through. Then, when it was our turn, he stopped us and asked if we had "too much to drink," just because we walked back around the building before coming in. We were calm, respectful, and said we were heading home via Uber. But the way he treated us felt personal -- like he didn't like us from the moment we walked up. We still went in, had one drink, and left after about 30 minutes because none of us felt comfortable. We even told someone inside what happened, and the response was, "We have no control over that." No apology. No concern. Letting someone in without any ID is against the law, and treating other customers unfairly isn't acceptable. Pecs Bar needs to hold their door staff accountable -- especially when their behavior turns people away for no good reason. read more

Such a chill and laidback bar to hang out at. This was one of two bars we visited while we were in San Diego for a night. Lot's a handsome men of different shapes and sizes. I had generally hangout in the back area, I found the music to be a little bit more of my style (EDM). I would love to come back the next time I am here. read more

Wonderful bar located in North Park that has been part of San Diego's accepting landscape for close to 40 years! On my recent visit to SD, Pecs was told to be a "must", so naturally we ended one of our nights out at Pecs. It was a Thursday night, which usually are pretty busy per the bartender, but on this night it was a small tame crowd. We were not after a big party, so as long as they slang us those cheap strong drinks and let us play a few tunes on the juke box, we were sold...which they did both! The bartender was very friendly, chatting us up about our visit, giving us other spots to check out, and chatting with our local friends about the neighborhood happenings, all while tending bar for the rest of fellas bellied up waiting for a drink. In addition to the large indoor bar, they also had an enclosed/open air bar and a small deck to hang out on. In both areas they had TV's that were playing sports, so this could easily be a "big game" bar for a group. My only negative was the smoke smell. You could actively smoke in the enclosed/outdoor bar area, but due to the large windows and doorways remaining open that connected the two spaces, the smoke smell easily wafted through the main bar. For someone who is sensitive to it, take note. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Pecs! Love the throwback logo and the friendly and welcoming spirit of the bar! When we visit SD in the future, we will certainly swing by to grab another drink at Pecs! read more

So the bartender spills my beer yesterday and I stand there waiting for him to give me another. He raises an eyebrow as if to say "why are you standing there?" I tell him I want a new beer and he says "It's full." I say no it's not. He holds it up to the light and says "Yes it is." I was barely done signing the tab, the paper was wet, I had not had a single sip of it, the bottle was below the level of the neck, and there is beer all over the bar in front of me, as well as the lime that had been in the neck. I tell him that even if a drop is spilled then it's not full, and the lime is on the bar. What am I meant to do, pick up the lime from the filthy bar and put it back into my beer? He continues his little hissy fit and asks another bartender "is this full?" and the other bartender says "yeah." I say that if he has to wipe it up with a rag from the bar then it's not full. He sets the beer down muttering under his breath "a full beer!" He sets a new beer down on the counter without even looking at me and turns to another customer. I say can "can I get a lime." He opens the container, reaches in, and hands me a lime. I'm like, dude. I tell him how rude he is and that he has a terrible attitude. Keep in mind that he was the one who spilled it. When I was a bartender, even if the customer had spilled it I would give him/her a new drink, without question. On top of that I had tipped him 25%, which he had already taken. I have a notion to call the bank and have the tip charged back. I don't care about the $7 if they need it that bad, it's the principle of the thing. Normally I have no problem with the service at Pecs, but this guy is no bartender. He needs to be bar-backing to learn how to be a bartender or go to bartending school, or at least have a good talking-to by the management. read more

Pecs is a super cool bar. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the current bartender who was super nice. We decided to visit this bar specifically because they are graciously streaming RPDR Season 15 which is super hard to get because it's only streaming on MTV. We arrived around 645 pm to get good seats at the bar. We were even allowed to bring in outside food which is amazing. Fast forward to around 745 and the bartender approached us extremely nicely and told us we were going to have to relocate because he was setting up the bar for serving. We thought this was strange and we were kind of annoyed because it offset us from having a nice view to watch the show which is why we specifically visited to begin with. Per usual, it was quite loud like a typical bar as the crowd started to get bigger. The show started, more people filtered in and the show was impossible to hear over everyone talking. Moral of the story. Don't go here to watch RPDR. You physically will not be able to hear it. You can read the subtitles if you wish however lol. Outdoor area is super nice as well with heaters. We will definitely go back however not to watch the show. read more

This is the only bar in my experience where couple bartenders give customers attitude and sometimes rude if you're not a white bearish guy. The other half of bartenders are friendly. Bathrooms are often dirty with wet floor/pee. Not the friendliest crowd. Stopped going for a while and don't miss it. read more

Missing this place. Had been introduced to it during the pandemic, but was told it was a great spot prior to it. The times that I came it was always fun, and safe. Staff abided by regulations and they were always in proper PPE. Hoping to hear their reopening soon to go back. read more

I've been to PECS prior to COVID and always had a wonderful time. Today I tried their new re-opening with the restaurant which is out back. The food was so good! My friends and I had the carne asada nachos, wings, and street tacos. I love PECS anyways but now with this food I want go back to try more. They are taking temps when you arrive, give you hand sanitizer, and are immediately sanitizing all areas/tables. The dining area is roomy and there's lots of space between tables. The staff is attentive and helps you right away. They are working so hard to make this experience the best it can be and going above & beyond the mandated safety protocols. Please go support a local business with an amazing staff! This was the first time I've eaten in public since the pandemic and I felt at ease seeing how cautious they are. read more

Wonderful bar. Great staff. Good prices. Clean and welcoming. Amazing Oatio on Sunday. Only exception is the people that do the cooking. I give them a ZERO. unable to get orders out on time. Told me 10 minutes. At 30 minutes, I ask about order. Told me another 10 on fries. Burger was cold and soggy. Ask for money back. They did the right thing and reimbursed me. Never offered apology or explanation. Of note: they were very busy but had only 2 small home fryers for all the business. Suggest larger fryers and another grill. Rudest bar ever! I was playing pool table and the cue ball got stuck. I went to the bar tender and he cut me off Mid stream and said don't talk to me. I can't help you. Talk to the door man. I walk out with the cue stick and the door man goes why are you walking outside with that.. get inside and someone will help you. Mind you, I'm visiting from Hawaii: and am not familiar with this establishment at all. I bought several round of drinks before this. I'm over this place and their rude staff. I'll go back to The Hole In The Wall where the staff is much much nicer and professional. I can see why my friend didn't want to come here in the beginning.
