I contacted several funeral homes yet I chose this establishment because Isabel was prompt, detailed and straight forward with what we needed and the pricing that this would entail. Isabel communicated every step of the process and helped answering any questions I had in a prompt and kind manner. She also helped us with ordering flowers and making sure the booklet we chose for my sisters viewing was exactly as we envisioned it. Additionally, we wanted to make sure no one took pictures of my sisters body and Isabel make sure signs were posted with these instructions. We are forever grateful to have chosen this establishment. Not only is the care exceptional but also the location is beautiful. The viewing room is perfect for the amount of people we needed and the parking lot offered plenty of parking for our guests. To finalize my review, my sister believed that the body is temporary but that the soul never dies. Through our many conversations we talked about cremation as our desire when it came time for the soul to go back to the source. We are spiritual and we often came from San Diego to frequent the meditation garden in Encinitas (just 5 minutes away from El Camino), she often times said that Encinitas was her favorite place. I hope you felt honored sis and I am forever grateful to have had such a beautiful soul as a sister in this life. I will see you again when life decides its my turn and I will cherish the grief because it will forever be the greatest reminder of how much I love you and how blessed I am to have had you as a sister in this life

My…read moremother's wishes were to have her ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean off of the coast in Oceanside. I will be honest, I was dreading honoring her wishes as I just couldn't bear the thought of pouring her off of a boat. We were almost 30 mins late, unorganized, short on cash for the payment, and overall I was just a complete mess if you can imagine. Not only were we scattering our mother whom passed away unexpectedlys ashes but we also were scattering the ashes of our little sister whom took her own life just a few weeks after our mother's passing. My brothers and I were uncertain, scared, angry and not looking forward to the burial at sea. We arrived to Oceanside harbor and were greeted by two polite and respectful young men. They were crew members for the Sea Star charter. They explained how things we going to run, we gave them a framed photo of our mother and sister along with some flower leis. They set everything up for us very nicely and brought me down to the boat to meet the captain. Captain Joe was very kind to us. His patience, his compassion and his kindness really made us feel welcome on his ship and better about the situation. Everything was organized, timed perfectly and explained thoroughly. The water was beautiful, the sky was amazing, the music was the perfect volume, and the scattering was emotional but magical! We had a school of dolphins swim and dance right past the boat just before we began to scatter the ashes. It was amazing! My mother and sisters ashes illuminated in the water which created such beauty that we all now feel in our hearts that our mother and sister are truly at peace, together and "ok". I can not express just how grateful I am for Captain Joe, his crew and the service that they provide! This day was the most beautiful day that I have ever had in my life, next to the birth of my children! I am so glad we decided to lay my mother and sister to rest at sea on the Sea Star Charter Boat! By the end of the charter, we all felt such relief and like 30 pounds had been lifted off our chests. This burial at sea, gave us the motivation to keep moving forward with our lives and strength to start to let go of the anger we were carrying. Captain Joes service gave me the ability to start to see some light at the end of the tunnel and helped to begin my healing journey. By the end of our trip, just as the Captain said, we all were finally smiling. I recommend a burial at sea with Sea Star Burial at Sea, to everyone whom loses a loved one. You won't regret it! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you very much, Captain Joe and the crew!! You all are awesome!

Like so many of the other reviews, I have only positive things to say about Oceanside Mortuary and…read moretheir team of compassionate representatives. As I live in Northern California, when my father passed away I did not know who to select for his mortuary needs and went with another service. My initial interactions with that company's representatives were so disappointing that I contacted Oceanside Mortuary. Within the first few minutes of our phone conversation, they exhibited such care and professionalism that I asked them to take over my father's arrangements. When I met in person with Mary a short time later, she walked me through the process, explained options (all of which were very reasonable in price), and did not try to pressure me into selecting one option over another. My father's service, while brief, brought comfort to my mother and all who attended, and this was due in large part to Mary and her colleagues. Had my interactions with Oceanside Mortuary stopped there, I would have gladly given them five stars. Now, I would double that if I could. Let me explain. Several months after my father's passing I learned that my mother, as the widow of a veteran, might qualify for additional benefits if we could show one of several conditions had contributed to his death. While he had suffered from the listed conditions, they were not included on his death certificate. Not knowing where to begin, I contacted Mary and explained the situation. She soon took the lead with hospice, the physician who completed the death certificate, the county, and state, and was able to obtain a revised death certificate. She also put me in touch with an expert on veterans benefits who discussed with me my mother's situation. Mary's efforts helped my ninety-nine year old mother receive double the military benefits she had been receiving, which will allow her to stay in her current assisted living facility. As Mary worked to get the revised death certificate, she showed the same concern and attention to detail that she did when I first met her. Without any hesitation, I would unequivocally recommend Oceanside Mortuary to anyone who has suffered a loss in their family.

From the very beginning, Jesus provided us with an incredible level of support and compassion that we will never forget. He was kind, patient, and informative, never once rushing or pressuring us into making any decisions about the funeral home. Once we had finalized the church and cemetery, Jesus took care of the rest. We chose to hold the viewing at his chapel, and we're so glad we did--it offered an intimate and peaceful setting during a very emotional time. On the day of the funeral, Jesus continued to show professionalism and grace, helping ease our nerves when emotions were running high. He stayed by our side until the very end at the cemetery. Even after the services, Jesus continued to be helpful--our stepmother reached out to him to order some memorial keychains for the family, and he was able to provide them in a timely and thoughtful manner. What also meant a lot to us was the feedback from others--friends and extended family who attended the memorial service and funeral had nothing but praise for Jesus and the entire Magallon team. Their care, respect, and professionalism did not go unnoticed. We can't thank Jesus enough for the support he gave us during such a difficult time. Choosing Magallon Funeral Home was one of the best decisions we made--you will not regret putting your trust in them.
