Their reliability and ease of setting up the packing and move when I was not even able to be present and the timing was truly helpful. It was more expensive than I had ever paid for movers, even without the packing, and that's honestly why I could not give them full 5 stars. As a military member going through an honorable discharge to help my family in crisis while already injured myself, I had to empty out my own savings and my children's I had saved up over a 9-month deployment in the combat zone to move back to my family when they needed my help, not even sure if I could then provide for them. So while I really thank them for the job they did, I never financially recovered from that and I do ask Rock Movers to consider the vets or military members in San Diego and to complete a weight estimate for them to be reimbursed.

Honestly, it got worse from there. The two movers were very slow and you pay by the hour. I started loading and unloading stuff myself. I even unwrapped and moved furniture myself (ending up cracking my Apple Watch screen in the process). They movers left behind a ton of stuff at my old place. It has taken me at least 15 trips in my Honda Civic to get it all. They took my desk but left behind my desk chair, so I had to beast that myself. They left behind my big, heavy bike rack and I had to move it in my car, cracking the center console in the process (the car is brand new). I've called multiple times to try and get some money back but I paid in cash. They got my money so I'm SOL. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! Very shady practices, too. They are definitely not insured. I feel so bad for the guy who ended up in the ER. He will definitely be covering that himself (the other movers confirmed this). They didn't have me sign any paperwork beforehand. They didn't check the time or anything. Just a Docusign at the end. They should call themselves D- Movers. It's way more accurate. I move often and this is by far the worst moving experience of my life.

They then forced my couch through the doorways causing damage to the new door to my new apartment, and left a lot of paint scrapes. Their responses were just "whoops" and "sorry" to both of these incidents, which they failed to report to the company/management. They misplaced couple items and put them elsewhere instead of keeping the items together which took me all day to find. Management said that movers are not authorized to offer a discount at the time of these incidents yet when I addressed them they were hesitant at first in taking accountability for this. After going back and forth about the door damages, the number they offered to reimburse me is not nearly enough for the repairs to the door, especially not at a luxury apartment. As a customer I was trusting the movers to handle my items with care and transport them carefully, that is what they were paid to do. On top of that, they seemed concerned that some items were "too heavy" if they needed to be moved up stairs at the new place. I reassured them they wouldn't need to take stairs at the new place, however that is what they were hired to do... maybe next time they need to bring an extra person or someone strong. If I was able to move the heavy items myself I would not have needed to hire anyone. They started slowing down towards the end and went way over time of the three hour window (to move one bedroom and living area items), resulting in higher charges at total cost. Yes all my items made it to the new place but at the expense of me facing damages at my new space and the experience of poor attitude/care.

We didn't quite hit that, but at no point did it feel like anyone was wasting time. The crew hustled the entire job. They listened to how I wanted to prioritize the move. We focused on large furniture first, got all the key items handled, then worked through the rest. Communication was constant. They asked questions, followed direction, and adjusted quickly without any pushback. The team was professional the whole time. No hesitation, even with heavy items or sending things upstairs. Everything was wrapped appropriately, not overdone, just done right. Nothing was damaged, and they were careful with walls and flooring throughout. We had discussed heavier items and drive time ahead of time, and everything was handled fairly. No surprises. I also compared pricing beforehand, and their rate of $199/hour (cash) plus the $60 truck fee was in line with what I was seeing.
