I had an appointment for an eye exam on 10/17/25. When I arrived I was told that they couldn't contact my insurance company and I needed to pay cash but I would be reimbursed by my insurance company. I reached out to my insurance company and was told they had paid the doctors office and I would have to get a refund from them. I have reached out multiple times, and have been told several times that a refund was coming , but the money has never been refunded. Now the office is telling me I was refunded months ago, but my bank said no money has ever been returned to my account. This is INSURANCE FRAUD. Has anyone else experienced this with this eye center? read more

I would highly recommend going to any other eye care place. It was my first time going here, I had an appointment at 8:30 am and arrived at 8:00 am when they opened to ensure I didn't delay my appointment time in completing new patient paperwork. I checked in and got escorted back into a room. I was in the room waiting before 8:30 am even came which was nice. I sat in the room for 30 minutes with no communication that the doctor was behind, nothing. I had to walk out of the room, and go to the front desk to ask to be rescheduled since my appointment was taking so long/delayed. The staff at the front desk could not have cared less, didn't look at me, didn't apologize, nothing. I ended up just saying I'll find another place. Go ANYWHERE but here. read more

Lindsay is truly wonderful. I stopped by to have my sunglasses fixed, and she went the extra mile and even replaced the old screw on one of the lenses. Two thumbs up for excellent customer service. The entire staff is wonderful. The gentleman with the cool European newsboy cap is wonderful as well. He welcomed me to the store and coordinated with Lindsay to have the glasses fixed. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who really took time to get everything right. They ensured the frames I picked fit well, they helped me order a product they don't even carry in the office, and the set it up to have those frames come in to measure before doing the lenses so the transitions work correctly. I definitely recommend this office for their customer service. read more

Go; its worth it! Doctor visits are not high on my list of things to do, but eye checks are important annually. Dr. Katherine Dang and the staff at San Gabriel Eye Center made it almost pleasurable. The staff is nice, quick and competent. They do the y and pre-test quickly and soon you're in the exam room. No waiting around here - Dr. Dang was with me in about one minute. Complete, thorough eye exam delivered very personally. Dr. Dang did not rush me in and out either. She answered all my questions completely and patiently. Needless to say, Dr. Dang is my new eye doctor. read more

Took 39 days to get my son's glasses. Every time I called, there was a different excuse. While things have been shipping slower due to covid, I was told multiple times different stories. "I see the tracking right here, it says it will be delivered Wednesday". Then you call Wednesday and they say it hasn't shipped yet. All of this over and over and over. And then get charged full price with zero apologies. read more

Never buy glasses here. The lens quality is terrible and San Gabriel does not stand behind their product. I purchased a $700 pair of progressive glasses with upgraded scratch resistant lenses. After a year the lens coating started to deteriorate and are unusable after a year and a half of use. I take very good care of my glasses and only clean with a soft cloth and the lens cleaning solution I bought from San Gabriel Eye Center. I wore my last pair of glasses (not purchased at San Gabriel) for 5 years with no problems so the lenses at San Gabriel are clearly of poor quality. I brought the glasses I bought at San Gabriel back to them and they did not offer to fix or refund. Terrible customer service. I will never return to San Gabriel Eye Center. So disappointed. read more

I have been going to San Gabriel Eye Center for many years here in Georgetown. I absolutely adore Dr. Jason McCain. He goes out of his way, jokes with me....gives such a thorough eye exam. I go away feeling like I am in such good hands with him as my eye doctor as I am a senior. I consider him one of the best in the 38 years I have lived here. Dr. Donna McCain takes the time to listen to your vision history as well as explain why you might be having any eye troubles. I suddenly had flashes in my eye while shopping one night. Her staff got me into see her first thing on Monday morning and after a very complete eye exam with retina mapping, I got all of my questions answered. I have seen a lot of eye doctors in my life and I really do like her the best. read more

I've been seeing (ha) Mr. Dr McCain for several years now. He is funny and relaxing. This last visit clinched the deal for me. He recommended computer glasses and today was my 1st day using them. Try and find a special on glasses and lens here. I have come twice here for service because of glasses from glasses bought elsewhere not even in town and the fit wasn't right. Linda Klein Optician gives excellent service fitting a progressive glasses on your nose so you will actually be able to read instead of it slipping down your nose and she makes sure the glasses fit around your ears. You won't get that kind of service at a bulk shop. I'm sure their optometrist services would be as good as Linda's optician service . read more

Has a great optical department. I purchased my glasses from another eye center which could never get them fitted properly. I was fed up and went to San Gabriel's optical center. They were fitted correctly and very quickly!! I am so much happier now that my glasses are not constantly slipping down my nose. Thank you San Gabriel Optical!! read more

Unfortunately, I can only give one star. It's a shame because I really loved the optometrist. She answered a lot of questions and was very friendly and I wanted to bring my mother to see her the next time she visits. That is, until my experience with their office staff. I wear bifocals, and I was asking about trying progressive lenses instead. I was encouraged to try them and told that they may not work for me and it would take some time to adjust. Long story short to spare the details, I was measured incorrectly twice, so when the progressive lenses did not work for me, I decided to just go back to bifocals. I was told by another employee when I came to pick up my bifocals that it would have worked if I had been measured correctly and that it was their responsibility to measure correctly. When I tried to get a refund because I was charged an extra $105 for the progressive lenses, I was told I was not entitled to a refund. I was never told I was gambling my $105 on something that may not work, especially since it relies on them measuring correctly by hand. I have learned from this experience that other companies use computer measurements. Had I been informed that I could not get a refund, I would not have tried to go progressive. The office manager was very argumentative with me and was not interested in keeping a satisfied customer. I am more than willing to pay for my purchases, but I also expect a company to do their job correctly and sell me something that I can use, and I do expect my money back if they fail to provide me with what they promise. I will not be returning and cannot recommend them. read more

Everyone was very nice including Dr. Donna but they are also misleading. I got a call for my daughter's glasses but her sister's glasses were not in. After going in weeks later to ask about my other daughter's glasses and contacts they claimed they were there and they have been trying to contact me. Not true. I feel they were misplaced and forgotten about. My other huge complaint and why I feel mislead is because after spending over $450 after insurance for two girls I was under the assumption that I ordered contacts as well. They asked if I wanted to order a 6month or year. I told them 6month and they told me they would contact me when her contacts are in. Going in today they claim I never ordered them. Why would I walk away with one set of 2wk contacts and not order more. I paid more out of pocket expenses that can not explained. I have already been in contact with my insurance. I will never do service with them again. read more

I love Dr. Schaefer! I've been going here since I was in college. The staff is always friendly and it's always a pleasant experience.

Dr. Donna McCain was very nice. I took my kids in for en eye exam and she was helpful in answering all of my questions. The staff is friendly and the services were excellent. My only complaint is the office is very dated, it felt like I was walking into the 70s. The place could use a remodel but other than that it is great. I am not sure we will be back though as the optical does not accept our insurance and I'd like to find a place where our insurance is accepted for both the optometrist and optical. read more

Dr. Jason McCain was very friendly, helpful, and efficient for both my husband's and my own yearly eye exam. He took the time to explain what he was seeing and to answer our questions thoroughly. We just moved to Georgetown a little over a year ago and went elsewhere for our first exam here and got terrible service and attitude from that doctor causing us to never want to go back. I have been going to Dr. Donna L. McCain for the last four years. She was very patient with me when I decided to get contacts and to get the right ones. I just called the office and spoke with Emily because I have a flex spending account card and they needed more detailed information on a charge for an office visit I had back in January. I recently went to Dr, Jason this past year. He was thorough with his exam that he even picked up on some scaring i had in my right eye that i didn't tell him. I've had glasses since i was 18 months old always with some issues and today i'm 47. in all these years i have never meet an eye Dr, so caring about his patients as he is. On Saturday i notice some issues with my left eye not able to focus and very much in pain. I was was able to get a hold of Dr, Jason and he went out of his way to have me come into his office late Saturday evening to check me out. Turns out i had a slight infection so he put some drops in to help relive the pain and said it should be fine in a couple of days along with the prescription he wrote. My wife was so impressed she is now going to start going to him and we are taking our 12 year old to him as well. My wife and i were able to enjoy our 23 wedding anniversary on Sunday. Thanks again for all you do you have a family that will be seeing you for a lifetime. read more
