Great place to take your fur baby for grooming. My old dog has been struggling to stand from hardwood floors due to lack of friction. I suspected it was her nails. I called San Gabriel Pet Center and the woman who picked up stayed for a same day walk in. Long story short, she couldn't cut much because my dogs veins were at the tip of her nails. She carefully inspected each nail and gave very useful tips and tricks. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for someone who evidently loves animals. read more

I am so happy that we found this place when we moved to Monterey Park! It's a small place but they do SUCH A GREAT job with the dog grooming. I took my chocolate lab, Frida, and she comes out so clean and happy! Last time they even put a cute Halloween bandana on her and the owner went out of her way to clean the leather collar so as to not put a dirty collar on a clean dog. Service is awesome! read more

I am SOOOO impressed with San Gabriel Pet Center! My dog is super skittish about things being done to her and hates all vet, animal hospital, and pet store visits. Most places we have encountered didn't know how to handle her. She has been wrestled, put in a head lock, yelled at, and had her nails cut too close where they started bleeding...so I don't blame her. I was looking for a new place for her long overdue nail trim and decided to give this place a try. It's an adorable lil shop with Christmas pet decor, pet supplies and goodies in the front, and groomers in the back. Jessica, the groomer, was able to help us right away. I explained that my dog was incredibly skittish and handed her the muzzle that I brought with me. Even muzzled, my 30 lb dog is a very mighty handful but she talked nicely to her, petted her, and tried to calm her down before starting. She picked her up and placed her on the grooming table. Jessica was very gentle and patiently trimmed all four paws thoroughly. It was the calmest I have ever seen my dog during a nail trim. Everyone was friendly and professional and I am beyond thrilled to have found San Gabriel Pet Center. Jessica is the sweetest and has such a natural way with dogs - I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone considering it! THANK YOU!! read more

I love this place. I've been going here for more than 3 years! I take the dogs here for grooming. It's affordable and you can tell that your pet is in very good hands. It's a small kinda old place. The place is basically sectioned off into two (shop section and grooming section) by a cash register and a wall of pictures of pets (off the topic, owner asked me for a pictures of the dogs I bring in...I feel so honored!). The selection of products you can buy for pets is very limited and kind of random (like...breath mints for dogs, bird cages). In the back they have cages set up for pets and their washing/grooming station is back there. I usually drop the dogs off before noon and they'll give me a call when they're done. Usually around 5pm. But you can request a time to pick them up and they usually meet their deadlines. I think it's $20 for a small dog and $25 for a medium-sized dog for basic grooming. I don't know if they do big dogs. I've never been charged extra for matted hairs (Pomeranians tend to get their hair matted) like I have been before at different places so it was a great find for me. =) read more

Been here twice and I love both experiences! The lady who works at the counter is super nice and explains any procedures really well. I usually take my dog to take the seasonal cuts (winter/summer). I love love love this place! They always do a very good job. We came here more than 5x and im always superrr satisfied! =D The prices are very afordable. For my dog, shes a little 5lbs bichon frises and she loves coming here. I only trust this place. I never see any cuts, blood, or fleas in her. Why I went back was because I got a glimpse of a guy who works there put two dogs away (i dont think they noticed me). He was gentle when handling the dogs and pet them as he put them away to dry. Took my baby Scrappy to get groomed. I LOVED the work that was done to her. She was shampoo,nails cut, groomed and flee bath the work's. She smells great never smelled as good as today at other places that I have taking her. Her fur feels so smooth and look very shinny. The place also has a lot of items to buy. They have plenty of clothes. Clothes a outfits I have never seen. There are dog collar with plenty of blind blind that will make our pets look extra beautiful. I'm a bit disappointed and disheartened to give this review but i felt like Maria was very unprofessional. I initially made an appt for my dog last Thursday for Monday at 1 pm but i completely forgot and called her back as soon as I remembered. When I called her she forgot too so we made another appt for today at 11:30 AM. I come in to her store at 11:30 and called twice just to see that the store is still close and there's no one there. I would've appreciated it if I got a phone call that there was an emergency or something came up instead of wasting my time. Came here for the first time to get my dogs nails cut, the lady that cut her nails was super nice! I was in and out of there very quickly. I have been bringing my dogs here for a couple of years and Maria and John are great. My dogs are happy when they arrive and happy when they leave. I used to take my dogs to another groomer in the area, and they seemed traumatized when I picked them up. I like the fact that I can see where they wash and groom my dogs. Petco and Petsmart and other groomers typically "hide" the bathing areas from view of the customers. I also like that I can call up and get my dogs in and out to get their nails trimmed within a few minutes. Maria charges less than any other groomer in the area for nail trims. I have brought my dogs to several groomers over the years, and San Gabriel Pet Center is absolutely the best. I highly recommend bringing your dogs here if you love them and want them to be treated with love and care. read more

Maria is wonderful! I've been bringing my furry baby here for years! Though her hours are limited she is always so good with him. Even if he isn't always the nicest little guy, she takes care of him without complaint. Maria knows that pets are family! She even stayed late once because I forgot to give her my new phone number when I dropped him off, waited all day for a call, then finally called her myself to learn that she had been trying to reach me and was worried about locking him up all alone for the night if I didn't call soon to get him. I found this place on Yelp and the reviews are true. After Petco gave my poodle mix a patch I decided to look for an independent groomer and I am glad I found Maria/owner. She is great and has years of experience, I took in my 2 dogs; a poodle mix 12lbs and my German Shepherd 80lbs. Finally someone who knows how to really groom a GS. It was shedding season and they did an amazing job bathing her and giving her a thorough comb out and the price is super comfortable considering the amount of hair and work they put in To comb her out. My poodle mix had his nails trimmed and buffed and had teddy bear face cut. Maria is very knowledgeable about all dogs. This is our 3rd grooming, so happy I came here. read more

I've been Maria's customer for more than 20 years. She was at the corner of San Gabriel and Garvey before right by the CVS back in the days until they decided to build Jack in the Box. She does an outstanding job and her helper Michael now does a great job as well. All of my dogs have been going to her one after another. So far she's done 8 of my dogs throughout the years and I have no complaints whatsoever. She's the best groomer ever and way better than the brand named places like Petsmart.
