Wow! French Toast was well presented

Great service. Yummy breakfast. Pretty restaurant. It's like we get to be back in Mexico for a moment. They have a bakery, it's not items we eat but they are very popular. Plenty of seating. Indoor and outdoor. Hubby gets something different every time. He got an omelet this time. $17.46 I get chilaquiles verde with scrambled egg $17.46 and flour tortillas $7.16 for 3. Ouch. I make mini burritos with them. Prices have increased again. That's why we rarely eat here now. It's just gotten way too expensive. Daughter got French toast. Was presented well. With cut pieces of strawberries and whipped cream. But again the price, ouch. $14.16 Tamarindo I'm told is fresh $5.10 OJ not fresh, is from a bottle $5.30 Hot chocolate $5.41 Right at $90 for breakfast... it's a nice treat but must be a rare one.

Soooo disappointed in how my single cupcake was transported! It was placed in a nice box only to drive home and found it on its side. Ruined gift! I suggest they package better to protect the artwork cause what a heartbreak. Guess I have to eat it, but found someone else to package a nice gift for my friend! Their pastries are good and nice bread!

We shared each order so the photo is kind of messy

I was looking for an authentic Mexican food when we visited Carlsbad. This place was suggested by one of the staff in the Mission Del Rey. The servings were huge but the tastes lack the mex food authenticity. We ordered Chicken tacos combo and the Friday special which is a the Beef Milanese sandwich combo( i think). The Friday Special taste like it was fried in old oil. I usually ask the servers for their favorite but this time I ordered what's advertised on their special menu. The service is great and place is clean and there are lots of nice paintings on the wall.

Great food service ambience all the checks. Came from vista, 15 min drive but worth it. The flavors are real.

Came by to order a birthday cake. I'll review that experience once we get the cake. Ordering was easy and they worked with what I was requesting. I needed a small birthday cake with a paw patrol image. I don't pick it up for a few days but will update review. We did get some cookies and pastries. So far everything has tasted great. Didn't try the restaurant.

This is my fourth time here, I make this a must stop between L.A. to San Diego to enjoy a very good bowl of menudo. I also enjoy having cafe de olla with the sweet bread from their bakery. The staff if very attentive to make sure we enjoy our meal. You can also visit San Luis Rey Mission right next door. On Saturday mornings you also get live music on occasions.

Easy going atmosphere. Great local Mexican restaurant !! The tamales are yummy!! Red or green, they are good ! It is a family owned restaurant. The tamales are ready to be ordered for the holidays!!!

    My receipt

Check your receipts *****Pastries and coffee were really good. Food was ok we didn't finish our plates. However when I received the check I thought it was a bit high for 2 adult meals and one kids meal it was $64. I questioned the cashier and she looked at the receipt but she said it was right. When I went to the car and I added in the calculator and it did not add up. I went back inside and realized they tried adding an extra meal like the one I got but in a very sneaky way. Instead of it being an added item on the receipt it was on the left which seemed like it was the fries that I was paying more for. Will not be coming back !!!!

    Huevos Rancheros was delicious!

Great service and wonderful food! The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Will be returning to this fine establishment! Currently visiting California but this will be marked as my favorite spot!

They have the best molcajete and fajitas around, at the best prices. We are here just to see if Cocina Del Mar is better. Long story short: it's not. However, their ceviche is AMAZING. Best ceviche I have had in north county San Diego outside of Dija Mara (which has the best ceviche in the known universe). It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). I would absolutely come back for the ceviche and to give them another shot by trying a different dish. I snapped pics of the menu so you can see the latest prices. Check it out.

It's a true family-style operation--one owner personally takes your order while the other is in the kitchen cooking everything fresh, and you can taste that attention to detail in every bite. The food is outstanding--full of flavor, generous portions, and very reasonably priced. It's the kind of place where you know you're getting authentic, homemade quality, not something rushed or generic. On top of that, the service is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself is clean and well-kept. It's rare to find a spot that checks all the boxes like this. If you're anywhere nearby and even thinking about Mexican food--do yourself a favor and come try Mi Asador. You'll be glad you did!

Since then we've been visiting other burrito places, but decided to give them another shot. We were pleasantly surprised to see things were "back to normal". Burritos were big again and the salsa bar was back. Chips were no longer free (I remember they used to be a long time ago), but no biggie. We were just picked up to-go. The burritos were good. Not great, necessarily, but good and the prices are some of the best around. They have a ton of options, and lots of drinks, including beer. We were just picking up, and it was a very hot day. The restaurant didn't have any air-conditioning so it was quite warm inside. Most people were eating outside. We'll be back again to try some other menu items given that their prices are generally pretty good.

These days, it's hard to find tacos loaded with that much meat and fresh guacamole, especially on freshly made tortillas. It was such a great value. Such a fun, laid-back beachy vibe and the location is perfect. You can kind of see the water, but more importantly you can FEEL it. We walked along the pier afterward which was a great way to end the night. We were both pretty jet-lagged and I wasn't feeling my best, so we unfortunately couldn't eat as much as we wanted. The birria tacos were definitely the standout! Tender beef, cheesy, crispy on the outside and SO good. I would 100% get those again. I got the pollo asado taco bowl with cheese. The chicken and grilled veggies were fresh and good, but I found myself wishing it had something a little more substantial like rice. Nuzz got the carne asada mulitas and loved them. Very cheesy and he'd definitely order them again. We also got chips and guac, which was fresh and definitely worth ordering. The salsa wasn't really our favorite since we prefer it chunkier. You scan a QR code at the table to order and pay, which was pretty cool, and the food came out FAST. The staff was really friendly too, especially the guy who helped wrap everything up when he realized we weren't eating much. Bonus points for the Cokes in big glass bottles! The tap water, however... not so much It was kind of warm and definitely not my favorite. My only real disappointment? NO FISH TACOS! At the beach!! Definitely somewhere I'd go back to when I'm feeling 100% and really hungry. And those birria tacos are happening again!
