The tacos and enchiladas were delicious and filling, with large portions. My daughter and I were completely happy until we decided to order fried ice cream. We got a delectable tortilla, covered in cinnamon sugar filled with very creamy ice cream and whipped cream and cherries. We were more than happy at that point. It was the best fried ice cream we have had. My daughter asked if it would be too late to change my yelp rating from four stars to five after this phenomenal dessert. Fortunately, it wasn't too late. ;) We decided we would come back in the future just for the dessert, which for nine dollars is easily enough for two people and better than fast food desserts that are nearby. Decided to stop one night driving through Burlington on the way back home. It wasn't too busy, but it was busy enough for a Thursday evening. Iwas at by the bar and .y waitress was Lozano. She was very pleasant and attentive. I order the full portion of the Chicken Chimichanga with comes with 2 ... even though I should've not been get and just order the half portion which comes with 1. The Chicken Chimichangas came with a Lettuce salad with sour cream, guac, refried beans and rice. First time going here and it was great. When I looked this up to write a review I was really surprised it doesn't have more stars. The service was incredible. It's a big restaurant with a lot of staff and everyone we came in contact with was so warm and friendly. Service was also really quick. The cheese dip and chimichanga were delicious. We didn't get drinks but we were near the bar and they looked great. The bar area also just looks cool. The decor here is really cool and gives the place a good vibe. Overall the food was good, maybe not as good as a couple of my favorite Mexican spots but still giving 5 stars because the service and vibes were top notch. read more

Ate here on Sunday for lunch and it was delicious! I ordered the Texas Fajita with chicken, shrimp, and steak. My husband ordered the Tacos A La Diabla with steak strips. Both meals came out piping hot and quickly! The bartender was not very friendly, however, the manager was pleasant and came over and spoke with us for a bit. We loved the festive atmosphere and even with being busy, the noise level was quite peaceful. This was our first visit at this location and we will definately return but perhaps won't sit at the bar next time. read more

We passed by on a whim and the same mediocre service as last time. I don't think anyone smiles in here. It was empty with a lot of wait staff hanging around talking super loud. Again our server came by once and we had to wave her down. Today's food was only so-so. The carnitas tastes like baked pork loin and the rice was very hard. I forgot to mention the table was wet when we were seated and the waitress who came by to clean it was very angry when she asked where the table was dirty. This strip in Burlington has almost every restaurant ever known, so naturally, we found the Mexican place! They were busy and seemed to stay that way, so expect a wait. Both food and drink menus are extensive, offering a variety of choices. They bring chips and salsa as yoir sitting down! There was something about the chips, we could not stop eating them! Food prices were pretty on par, but drinks seemed pricey to me. This is not a place to come if you want a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is nicely decorated but very bright lights and the noise level is high due to families and kids throughout. Overall good experience, good quality good! The food was fair. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they were yummy. Though, I wish my sides were warmer, especially the beans. My friend decided on a chicken quesadilla but mentioned the wasn't enough cheese provided. Overall, the seasoning and flavors were good. The interior was decorated with some lovely art throughout. Upon being seated, I didn't feel crowded though several large groups were dining in during my visit. A friend and I decided to stop in for a late lunch on a Sunday around 1 pm or so. My wife and I came here for lunch a few Sundays ago. This is one of our "go to" spots in Burlington. This time I tried some new things and not "the usuals" Wow! I'm glad I did. I tried the Chile toreado appetizer. Jalapeño grilled with onions lime juice and salt. It has heat (if you like it a little milder then remove the seeds). This was amazing! I was in the mood for steak so I had the carne en su jugo. It's strips of bottom round steak cooked in a green Chile enchilada sauce with other veggies. I highly recommend trying some of a the traditional Mexican food on the menu. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

The presentation makes it seem more expensive than it is. If you can eat the whole fish m, you are boss! cause it's a large portion. I love coming on Sunday/funday. Kids meal didn't show up with rice and beans as listed on menu. Several adults ordered the same meal and they all came out different. When addressed our waitress told us that's what you ordered. In my journey to find some authentic Mexican food reminiscent of West coast quality, I tried San Marcos out. The atmosphere of the place was cool and the wait staff seemed accommodating and attentive. The first thing I noticed upon being seated was that there was a large tear in the seat at my booth. Things happen, but this seemed like it had been neglected for so long and they didn't seem concerned to repair it. Just a bit odd for a seemingly nice building, otherwise. The food was fair -- about the same as what I've had thus far. What is up with all of the nacho cheese type sauce on the burritos? Is that a Carolina thing? Only a month here, and so far, every Mexican burrito has had that. Y'all know 'wet' typically means red enchilada sauce, right? Not nacho cheese on everything. It's almost as if they use the nacho cheese to make a bland burrito have some flavor.
