2 stars, and I'm being generous. I came in with a friend and my toddler around 3:15 on a Saturday afternoon. We left at 4:45. There were maybe three other tables in the entire place. We started with the arancini, advertised as house-made risotto. The breading was too uniform and too thick to be house made by anyone who's actually made arancini. The center wasn't warm. The risotto inside was dry. The marinara was cold. I've had good arancini. This wasn't it. We ordered a medium pizza -- pepperoni and mushroom on half -- and waited. And waited. At some point our server came out to tell us the pizza had to be remade. I had a hungry, increasingly cranky toddler being held together with graham crackers. By the time the pizza finally arrived, he was done. The pizza itself: the pepperoni is listed as Liguria and it did cup, so I'll give it that. But the top of the pizza was swimming in oil -- more than pepperoni alone accounts for -- which suggests the cheese isn't doing any favors. The sauce and crust were genuinely good. I didn't hate the pizza. But the service? I've waited tables. I know how it works. I watch things. When we declined to order alcohol, our server's smile dropped noticeably. After that, he checked on us far less than the other tables -- and there were only three of them. We ran out of water. The manager came by, noticed our empty carafe, and filled it himself. That told me everything. The pizza had barely landed on the table before our server reappeared with his ordering device, Cheshire grin in full effect, check already sliding toward us. I told him I wasn't done yet when he asked about a box. His response? "Just want to make sure you're taken care of." That's a strange thing for an attentive server to say. A good server would have walked away and come back. He hovered. When we were actually ready to leave, there was no one to flag down -- my friend had to go find the server and the owner, who were hanging out together in the back, just to get a box. Two women with a toddler, mid-afternoon, three other tables in the restaurant, and we couldn't get water refilled or basic attention -- but we could get the check shoved at us before I finished eating. The crust and sauce have potential. Everything else needs serious work. One more thing worth noting: Google sits at 4.8 stars while Yelp comes in at 3.8 with a pattern of reviews that either love it or hate it. A full star gap between platforms is a meaningful discrepancy. Google reviews are anonymous and anyone can leave them -- draw your own conclusions. The Yelp split tracks with my experience. Your mileage may vary, but mine did not. read more

San's pizza tonight; pizza was pretty good, got the Margherita and the sauce was light but had a good punch of flavor. The pasta was awful, 0/10 do not recommend. Tasted like butter on noodles with dry dry dry cheese rather than chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Yes we did carry out, It was still piping hot, but flavor was not there. I detected no alfredo - tossed it immediately to the trash. I'm sure my husband and I will consider them again for pizza in future, but definitely big no for the pasta category. Seemed the service the evening I was there was fine. Even though I went through some issues with payment. The waitress even said she had to go in the back and get a different card reader because she thought that one was bad. When I got home, I realized that my account had been charged as well as paying cash, because they said my card was declined. When I called, I was told it would be remedied the next day. I arrived three minutes after opening the following day and had the bartender call the police on me claiming I threatened him when all I was doing was trying to explain what happened. He told my friend (calling for the waitress or owner) that I was a liar and had been trespassed and was no longer allowed in there, then promptly slammed the phone down on her. A false complaint was made to the police so I ended up contacting the owner. The owner was upset that the police were called on me and said I had not been trespassed because he's the owner. He said he would call me when he got to the restaurant and would speak with the bartender. When he called back later, he told me he had to leave right away, and I was to meet the waitress in the parking lot instead of going inside. He hung up on me every time I tried to call him back. I did get my cash back. However, their bad business practices and poor machines that can't collect a credit card payment properly was turned around to be my fault!! Very shady business practices, avoid this place at all costs. The owner claimed that customers don't lie, but the way I was treated was absolutely deplorable. read more

This review is based on the bbq chicken pizza and bbq wings. I don't recommend them. Bbq sauce had a funny taste to it. Minimal toppings on the pizza. The chicken on the pizza had an Italian seasoning so it didn't work well with the bbq sauce. Wings were good but the sauce wasn't. The pizza crust was really good though. I will have to try it again but go with a traditional pizza. Food was kinda pricey. Server was very nice. read more

Pizza was OK, there was something missing from the BBQ chicken. Maybe use pineapple instead of apple? Was charged a large family fee for 2 adults, 2 kids, and an infant. $109 for a medium pizza, mac n cheese, a sandwich, sm caesar and 2 drinks. The busser served us our food and the ticket, she did most of the table service and was very kind. She deserves the entire tip! Food was mediocre at best and we will not be back. We used to serve at a restaurant and we're surprised at the large party charge - usually its printed on the menu, and only applies to parties of 8 or more. Amazing folks own and work here. They have an absolutely impeccable focus on customer service. The pizza is a little too salty but good. They claim it to be New York style pizza, but since I am originally from The Bronx, I can say that this isn't quite NY pizza, but it is tasty. It has ample sauce, fresh quality toppings, cheesey, and a foldable crust with perfect chewiness. My only issue is that I asked for sausage and peppers. The sausage had no flavor. I'm not sure if it was actually sausage. It seemed more like ground beef instead of sausage. We honestly I couldn't tell. However, although it was missing the sausage flavor, it wasn't bad. This was my first time, but I'll be back not just for pizza but other menu items. They have a decent menu of several non-pizza food choices. read more

Ok guys and gals I have been waiting to post my review, I highly recommend this restaurant it's NOT just pizza!! And I hey have really tasty wine... the only thing that was missing was more people! I did see and notice A LOT of people ordering pizza for takeout thats a good sign. I came in on a Thursday night I believe it was supposed to be to be date night , but the husband was called to two meetings after work he was going to be late , but I was a little early SO I said Valencia let's try Dans for some appetizer and a glass of wine or TWO ( yes it was good!). Service was beyond my expectations. Well mannered, well dressed and informative. Can you tell I enjoyed myself? The restaurant is clean organized and a good vibe. This is by far my favorite pizza around; it's the most authentic tasting NY style. The circumference crust is both crusty and chewy. The cheese is real and the right thickness. The sauce is tasty. The under crust is thin. It's not perfect. It's inconsistent: never bad but sometimes not nearly as good as other times. How? The bottom crust can be too limp. The cheese can be lacking near the outer edge -especially on smaller pies. There may be much too much orange oil on top of the yummy cheese. We typically get plain cheese. Last time we ordered bacon and mushrooms and they put what appears to have been about 2-3" pieces of raw bacon slices on the pie prior to baking. The bacon was not at all crispy and too large for being so "flexible". Hope this gives a good idea what to expect. In case it's not excellent, try again. Like I said- never bad. Quite yummy. Frankly, our party of two left most of the food on the table. It was not good. That's a shame, because Parlor Pizza, who was the previous restaurant in that spot, did do a decent pizza. But this restaurant, I cannot recommend, and we certainly will not be returning. First, service. The owner greeted us and was extremely enthusiastic. That was nice. Second, the ambiance. The place has never been inspiring, and that certainly hasn't changed with the change in ownership. The only difference is the CD of generic cheesy European tourist music that's on repeat, playing the greatest cliches of Italy, as well as France and Spain. That was not great, but ok, it's a choice. Third, the food. That part left us cold. The good part was that the portions were pretty big and the ingredient quality was good. However, everything tasted... a bit off. As if you had asked somebody who has never eaten a pizza, to cook you one from recipe. The dough was off. The sauce was off. The choice in toppings was off (and not the most tasty...). The actual toppings were off (example: wrong type of olives). The preparation was off (example: too much veggies that weren't patted dried, and in turn turned my veggie pizza into a soggy mess!). My husband and I came in hungry at 1pm on a Thursday afternoon and were not disappointed by the quality of food at San's Pizza! FOOD The ingredients seemed like high quality. Here's what we ordered: - an order of (2) Arancini - a medium Sam's Special pizza - a slice of Limoncello cake Neither of us had ever tried arancini, but we really enjoyed it -- especially the sauce it was plated on top of, which we were scraping off our plates after the last bite. The pizza crust was UNMATCHED by any other pizzas we've tried in Kitsap County. The limoncello was to diiiiieeeee forrr with its creamy frosting, moist sponge cake, and white chocolate shavings. AMBIANCE The ambiance was great! It was an entirely empty restaurant, but decorated well and the sounds of Italian music filled the large, cavernous space in a lovely way. SERVICE Our server seemed shy (he didn't waste time on pleasantries), but he was attentive and offered a box and refills at the end of the meal. We weren't offended by the lack of conversation, but I could imagine someone else complaining that the service wasn't stellar. Absolutely the worst food I've ever had. I ordered the smothered pizza and it was literally raw dough. I ordered a blueberry lemonade which tasted like it was concentrated. I took it back immediately and the cook came out and argued about mushrooms being 80% water. Why is it I can put mushrooms on pizza anywhere else and I still receive an edible product. At first I was going to allow a remake. Until I asked for some water to dilute this terrible drink. He brought me a full cup of water the same size as the lemonade. I said I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with this. He told me to take it outside and dump some out. After that I no longer wanted to do buisness with this company and asked for a refund. I've been told they would only give me a gift card. You couldn't pay me to eat at this place. I will be contacting the attorney general and the better buisness bureau. read more

The staff was nice but they were painfully understaffed. Worst pizza I've ever had in my life. My party of 4 went in on a Friday evening around 6:30, and weren't greeted or seated right away in the half empty place. Once seated, it took 10min to place an order for beer. One of the servers was the cook. We ordered two pizzas, the first came out over 30min after order. The ham on the pizza tasted like Thanksgiving ham. The second pizza didn't arrive to the table until 50min after ordering, which was a margherita pizza. The dough was raw, the center of the pizza was unedible and pooled with what seemed like water, the tomatoes on the pizza were not cooked. The pizza was floppy and falling apart. We stopped by here on our way home back to the East side. The place was clean and inviting. We got seated right away and the service was great. Ice cold water, complementary fries. We ordered a Caesar salad , hot wings and the Carne pizza minus olives and added peppers. The hot wings had great flavors and not too hot. The salad was fresh and cold. Now the pizza... All the toppings were delicious and had good flavor. The issue came with the thin crust, it wasn't cooked long enough there for it was mushy on the bottom. It did have great flavor though. Amazing and delicious pizza, smelled wonderful as soon as we walked in. The staff were nice & accommodating. Also, I accidentally left my wallet in the ladies room and we had to turn around and grab it, which was an hour and half away, before we realized it and they were kind enough to put it in their safe in a bag stapled shut. We called them and they were going to close in 45 mins but someone stayed and they gave it back to me and asked me to have it checked just in case anything was missing. We tried San's for the first time this weekend and came away very happy with the food. We ordered a 16" pizza as well as an order of garlic cheese breadsticks. The breadsticks were fine - no complaints. The pizza was very good. The sauce was really flavorful and the crust was not at all doughy. We ordered for pickup and there were no delays getting our order. This is the third or fourth different restaurant that has been at this location in the ten years we've lived in Poulsbo (Sound Brewing, Parlor Shop and maybe one other). Hoping San's can make it work where those other businesses couldn't. It's a little pricier than Poulsbo Woodfired Pizza, but not significantly so (and I don't have to circle the parking lot trying to find a spot like I do when I pick up from PWP). I also took a look at their beer selection, and they had a good number of local beers on tap. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other menu items in the future. This would also be a good spot to pick up food to-go and then head 1/4 mile down the street to have a beer at Echoes or Rainy Daze. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years so we know what the food "should" taste like. Even when the service is bad the food will save them. Unfortunately our last few visits this was not the case and we won't be returning. On our last visit it took 45 minutes to get our first appetizer, an hour to get our pizza and then the fries showed up afterwards cold. The pork belly app looked like leftovers somebody threw on a plate, awful flavor. One of the pizzas was completely inedible and missing ingredients, the crust was completely wrong. The second pizza was only eaten out of desperation but equally terrible. Since the new owners have taken over service has been laughable. I feel so bad for these guys they clearly have ZERO clue how to do their job and they are always on the floor solo. In terms of service our water was never refilled, I had to hunt down the only server to get a drink, menus and dirty dishes were left on the table. The arcade games were left off after asking them to be turned on. I could go on but *sighs* what's the point. Truly upset to have lost one of our favorite places to eat. read more

Best gluten free pizza ever! Generous toppings and plenty of crust without tasting like cauliflower crust. Everything was hot when served and got a free snack of French fries before lunch. My fiancé and I came here for dinner and it was great!! I got the Stromboli Calzone and a scratch lemonade, he got a beer and pepperoni pizza. Everything was super tasty, food came out hot and fast. Service was awesome, they gave us complementary fries while we waited for our food that were delicious. Everything was clean, they have a couple of TVs and a game room as well with pinball and some other games. Family friendly and they also have a bar space. Plenty of parking in a large free lot. Ordered on line as a "take away" order. Did not have good luck with the previous joint (Parlor Shop) in this location but I'm thinking the only way for the new owners to go is up, right? Wrong! The sole car in the lot and 2 guest inside on a Friday night should have been an indication but my food had been ordered and was waiting. I had ordered the meat lovers calzones for 22 bucks and a green salad for 10. First of all, the salad came in a very small box and consisted of a small handful of wilted greens, a little bit of onion, and some dressing... for the price it was PATHETIC! As for the calzones, it was nice to look at but I couldn't eat it. It lacked the promised ingredients including sauce and the gobs of hot ricotta made me gag. read more

Do NOT order the bacon-wrapped gorgonzola stuffed dates! It will set such a high standard of awesomeness in appetizers that you are unlikely to ever experience again! (Unless, like me, you plan to go back regularly and order them again. And again.) Restaurants come and go around here and this particular location has seen it's share of occupants, so we were a bit skeptical going in. But our experience was was nothing short of "five star" start to finish. The staff was obviously very eager to please and make welcome. The food (as mentioned above) delightful and creative. We had the garlic and mushroom pizza (dine in) as well as the dates, a small Caesar salad, and tiramisu cake. All was delightful. Highly recommended. You will enjoy your dining. read more
