Love my new car. Had to fight the good fight to get said new car. Do yourself a favor (no matter WHERE you are car buying) and get pre-approved for a car loan at your bank, credit union, etc. ahead of time. We originally went into San Tan without financing lined up, and it only caused us pain. The chicken scratch that the credit dept presented us with was not adding up. I am an accountant, I am able to calculate AROUND what my payment should be with a decent interest rate and down payment. Their numbers were not making sense. Had to ask what rate they were using to calculate estimated monthly payments multiple times. Never got a clear answer. Walked out, went to my bank the next day, got pre-approved for a monthly payment that was $150-$200 LOWER per month than what San Tan was offering. Went back to San Tan the next day. Even with bank financing lined up, still got the run around from the credit dept. Tried to run hubby's credit along with mine even though we had told them the loan was already approved in just my name. Finance manager finally offered to match my bank's rate when all was said and done (whereas, before I had my bank's rate, they were apparently trying to get me to agree to double or triple that rate). Then the fun with all the add ons that they try to sneak in began. The $600 lo-jack / GPS tracking device (um, no thank you). The $995 Desert Pro Package (watch for the term "DPP" in the credit department's chicken scratch!). I am still not 100% clear what the Desert Pro Package entails. We got them down to $500, and we had been there for a couple hours at that point (on day 2 of our car buying experience with them), so we gave in and met them half way ($500 vs $995). Turns out the DPP IS on the sticker, but our sticker was folded strategically where this was listed so we didn't see it. They are also very insistent about extended warranties. We didn't bite and it was a fight to get the finance manager to move on from it. Outside of haggling over financing and mystery add ons, the rest of our car buying experience was fine. They are good about showing you the ins and outs of the car features before you leave and the sales rep has followed up with me multiple times to make sure I don't have any questions about my new vehicle (thus the 2 star rating instead of 1 star). It's true that the car buying experience is hilariously bad here. It's the old school Four Square method. If you are reasonably good at math, you can easily see through their money shell game with the Four Square. I'll give you an example. You'll start with the ever classic "How much do you want to pay a month?" You state a monthly payment and this "goal" is the last square. Down payment, trade in value, and price of the car you are looking at are the other squares. And lo, this is where I caught the salesmen. After stating a given monthly payment, the salesmen returned from talking with the manager (I know, right?) with a monthly payment that was higher than I was comfortable with. I was told he could lower the payment by $30 a month and this "was like taking $3000 off the price of the car!" Do you know what they are doing here? I do. They are not amortizing the interest over the length of the car loan. So the first monthly payment is completely bogus. The $30 dollar reduction in monthly payment is not taking $3000 off the price of the car; it's simply the interest equation being calculated incorrectly and on purpose to set up the idea that they are reducing the price of the car when they come back with a new, lower monthly payment. Caught. Busted. I had no interest in buying after that. The "saving grace" is apparently the service department. Maybe. I'll do an oil change, but that's about it. When it comes to more complex issues, I would not go here myself. I know enough about my car, that I can ask questions to understand what is really needed. I do not know if they are intentionally trying add services or if the technicians are trying to hit the OEM specs dead center. For example, I have a lowered car. The manufacture of my suspension conforms to Ford's suspension specifications; albeit, on the negative side of camber. I was told I needed camber plates before they completed an alignment because "my car was lowered." Incorrect, I do *not* need camber plates. Never mind that the cause of my tire wear was toe, not camber. But in all fairness, they could have been trying to hit -0.75 degrees of camber, so maybe, just maybe they really thought I needed camber plates. read more

These guys were very helpful to me throughout my buying expeience. I purchased a 2005 F-150 and traded in a MINI Cooper S that I had been trying to sell for some time now. The BEST offer I recieved on the car private party or dealer was $16,500 in over a month. Moving along, they were willing to sell me their truck for $10,000... paying off the MINI and giving me the truck. This would make the price of the truck about $6670 - $400 doc fee - $300 title/license - and no tax since the trade was a higher value. I owed 18800 on my MINI so the ACTUAL value they gave me for the mini was 16200. If that confused you, they gave me a steal of a deal. There is NO WAY they are going to unload that car for any profit, and their truck was $2000 UNDER wholesale book. I just looked at Manheim auctions and I got it for less than a dealer can buy it at an auction. In other words I came out so victorious I feel like a champion. So all that aside. I get a call today from Sam Cumbo, the used car manager, stating to make the $10,000 cashiers check to him. Sounds fishy to me so I called the finance department and asked them to look into it. I got a call 5 minutes later from the Controller at the dealer saying in no way is a check EVER made out to the salesman/manager/anyone except the name of the business. We are working on trying to figure out what he pulled, but I think the dude gave me an unbeatable deal on a truck that had not been put on the lot yet, with hopes that he can manipulate the system and walk away with $10,000 leaving me with a car that isn't paid off, the dealership without a truck, and a whole lotta fraud. Everyone else in the dealership was extremely cool/helpful/nice. I was lucky to have got the deal I did and be smart enough to not write a check to the guy. Most people would have, and would be in some serious crap. Be careful!! read more

Was looking for very specific vehicle configuration. Our local Ford dealer did not have it. I was in touch with 4 dealers in the Phoenix area that had the vehicle the way I wanted or very close. Three of those dealers provided detailed quotes. San Tan Ford was not one of them. Three different sales people contacted me via email or text message. I asked for quotes. The all responded with a nebulous "just come on down and lets talk" - no quote. One, who identified himself as a sales manager said "bring your quote (from another dealer) and we'll make it happen" - whatever that means. In the end, it felt like they wanted to trap me in an office at the dealership and snooker me into a price that would not require them to have to beat the other dealers. I tried to buy a truck at San Tan over the course of the past two weeks. I could not come to terms on a deal but this is not why I'm giving them one star. they're getting one star because of how poor the communication has been. I never once received a call back from my sales person, Jim Hairston. I sent over a dozen emails and made over 10 calls. The times I was lucky enough to get him on the phone I was greeted with an excuse about why he hadn't called me back. First was his wife "hurt" herself, then it was "serious dental surgery". Either this guy is the unluckiest man on earth or he is full of the typical 60 year old car salesman crap. My assumption is the latter of the two. At the end of the day, if the communication is this bad on the sales end, imagine what I'll be faced with if I have a problem. I thought I'd try San Tan Ford because they're close to my house. I drove to their service department and spoke with one of their service "Adviser" yesterday to ask about warranty repair. I asked the adviser what's going to be done. (the molding was falling off the rear window) the adviser " said "whatever Ford says" I asked him if can give me more details like ask parts dept. he repeated again " whatever Ford says" and asked me to sign the work order. I said no way I'm signing anything without more info, It a simple problem you and can give an answer now. the service adviser then said "have a nice day" and walked away without even trying to find an answer. I drove to Earnhardt Ford which close to 20 mile away from my home, Without even asking him, the Service Adviser made a call to his parts dept and then he told me that the whole rear windows needed to be replaced. he called KB Glass and arrange for them to come to my home and replace the window the next day. I'd never go to San Tan ford ever again. They simply don't understand they meaning of customer service. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Not just the dealership, but also Ford. I have a 2013 Ford Focus that I paid $2500 for an additional warranty that apparently does not cover the drivers door latch. Ford's quality is so sub par. My only option is to pay $450 to replace the latch, or tie wrap the door shut on a car that is 3 years old. Ford is crap!!! Update. I am updating San Tan Ford to two stars. My wife talked to the manager and they reimbursed some of the cost. This should have been done by the service tech though simply for the fact we bought the car and warranty there. The rest of the money may be reimbursed if Ford recalls the latch. There are three more doors that this may happen to. I suggest keeping a watch on the back doors if you cart grandkids like we do. Wish I remembered the name of the sales guy who helped us. Seemed good at first but when I challenged him regarding the 7,000.00 over-priced sticker on the windshield (based on information I looked up on (cargurus.com) he kept coming back with excuses. After waiting for almost one hour on a financing decision, I decided to leave and he promised to call me when things got worked out. Still waiting for that call a week later. Maybe he was thinking that the fully loaded, Ford Expedition, was out of my price range and he wasn't going to make a sale; I don't know. Whatever the case, excellent customer service means he should have made the call letting me know either way. But not worries less than commendable and competent sales guy, you only lost out on a 55,000.00 sale as I went over to Chevrolet and purchased a 2015 Suburban LT Sports Utility vehicle, fully loaded. So Chevrolet has my business and I will be taking my Ford Fusion Energi, which I previously had serviced at your dealership, to another Ford dealer that values my patronage and places customer service as a priority. read more

Worst dealership ever. Usually domestic car dealership are a little more laid back than imports but this place is the worst. I dont want to write a huge review so I'll just sum it up. I put money down for a truck but they couldn't get the banking stuff done on a Saturday night. On Monday I went back in and they had sold the truck. So I wanted my money back. They said I would have a check in the mail by 2 weeks. About 6 weeks later and probably 30 phones calls. I called a family friend who is a lawyer. I called him about 6pm on Thursday by 8am Friday the HR person had called and had my check waiting. She said it had gotten lost on her desk but it was clearly printed off like an hour earlier. It clearly said the time and date on the check. AVOID THIS PLACE read more

They don't care about their customers satisfaction (obvious by the copy/paste response you get on here from Robert to every bad review) Truly, I'm not sure how any of them sleep at night. I had a very bad experience here. The sales guy was nice at first but I did have many questions and wanted to test drive a few cars and he made me feel like I was taking too much of his time. When we got in the showroom after deciding on a make and model they we unwilling to negotiate on the price at all. Then I had to wait for some kind of assistant manager. He took forever and actually stood at the table next to us talking on his cell phone while we waited. He then would not reduce the price of the vehicle at all, he then told me he would give me a good deal on a truck but not the car I wanted. I was then thanked for visiting, he also told he that they were open until 7 but he might close at 6. I went to Earnhardt Ford and had a great experience. I purchased a 2014 Ford Fusion SE. I would not recommend wasting time with San Tan Ford. I hope that the owner or GM reads this review and makes some corrections. If I was the manager I would make some changes immediately. read more

Car of my dreams! Then returned it!! RETURNED it because of undisclosed information! They also didn't apply my down payment to the cost of the car! Crooks! Beware of the add on's too! You don't need a Desert Pro package, Ford warranties the paint on the vehicle for three years! The DEfence system was sold as a 36 mo. and they charge you $695 for the system & contract, but what they don't tell you it's the warranty. The actual system it self is only good for 1 yr. after that you are required to pay $89 a yr for the system. Lo-Jack $600 for life of car. None of this was disclosed. Tri Color white Platinum Ford Explorer. BUT!!!! Be very careful moving forward with these people!!! First be very careful in buying the DFence alarm system, we were told it was good for three years, what the manufacture stated it was a guarantee they'll pay you certain amount of money if the car is stolen w/in three years, however the system cost you over $695 + a year to maintain. A week into owning the Dfence system we started getting non-stop text from the company that car had been moved and where it was going. It was me driving the vehicle all along. We couldn't stop the texting or the none stop flow of emails. I was getting the text msg and so was my husband at work, which was making my husbands work day impossible!! So the system had to be swapped out for another one. After the manufacturer explaining how the DFence system worked, we've decided on Lo-Jack. It's for the life of the vehicle and the police are involved immediately. The buying experience was very quick, it left you sitting there wondering what did you get or didn't get. The guy went through it so fast, I had no clue as to what I was purchasing or not. One thing I must admit, the finance guy doesn't know squat about the repair issues on these vehicles. Told me there were no spark plugs, belt or chain to be dealt with on these vehicles, so he didn't want to sell us the maintenance warranty on this vehicle. I think perhaps he needs to go back to school. After bringing this to his attention, he told me the dealership could always take the car back. Then they tried to tell me that the dealership doesn't have to honor USAA 100,000 mile warranty on the vehicle and that we basically bought into something w/USAA that was worthless. It was nothing but one stressful issues after another. After USAA getting involved in this and a three way phone call conversation. San Tan will probably be losing their True Car Buying status with USAA. Who does this to our people in uniform? This isn't how you treat your people who've defended your Country! The finance department leaves a lot to be desired. Jason (same guy who said the car had no belts or plugs) said if I didn't like how things went down, I could return the vehicle. You spend over $57,000 with a dealership and this is the gratitude you get? They were also trying to talk me out of my USAA 100,000 warranty in order to buy there's. We found a truck that we wanted and was in our price range. We waited 15 minutes for a salesman to come but finally we went inside and waited for 22 minutes (timed) to see a salesman. Finally we found one, and his first words are "what". Immediately the salesman had no customer service. We stated that we want to test drive a king ranch and he acted like we were inconveniencing him. He said "give me your license" When he returned with the keys (18 minutes later) He said "Give me your phone number" I said no, give me my id back we don't want anything from you. The grey haired, tall older mean man actually looked surprised that we were done with his crappy attitude. I will never be back to Santan Ford. What a disgrace to the ford name. read more

This is and update to a prior review I made of San Tan Ford on 9/29/2014. I received a reply from GM Tim H. I feel it is important to let consumers know that when I spoke with Annie Pierce (assistant to the General Manager), she told me all responses from the General Manager, she primarily responds to on Yelp. Meaning the message and comments left by Tim H are mostly written by someone else. So the "heartfelt" response left under my review was written by someone who knew my ongoing situation with their dealership. The mock "wow" insinuating surprise to my review isn't a surprise at all. The 75 dollar charges and gift cards for the botched leather job and joyride in my car was made by Annie Pierce. The same person writing the majority of the responses on Yelp in the name of Tim Hovik. But I still sent Tim H a message back on the off chance he might have truly written that response to my review. I asked if could set up that meeting with him on the phone or in person as I have only tired for the last 4 months to get it. At this point I can't say I have a whole lot of faith that meeting will take place or that the message will be received. I know a General Manager can't respond to every Yelp review but this response tells me the messages on yelp never really reach the GM. How can I tell that? I gave enough information on this review for this dealership to know who was writing the review. If they even remotely cared about making this right I would have received a phone call from Tim personally or his assistant Annie. That has not happened and I waited a full month before responding to Tim's response to my review to see what would happen. Clearly more of the same, NOTHING. Buyer beware, its smoke and mirrors all the way with San Tan Ford. I shared this story with your today because the holiday gift giving season is fast approaching and I don't think these guys deserve one dime of your money! There are so many reasons why I would NEVER buy a Ford again. Some of them have have to do with this dealership and some of them have to do with Ford Motor Company. I do want to point out that there is one redeeming thing about this dealership and that is the service manager, Leslie. She is wonderful and I hope they know how good they have it with her. She would be the only reason I would ever go back there. There were so many debocals with this dealership from the time time that I tried to buy my car. I say TRIED, because the car that they ordered for me, the sold out from under me when it came in. Yup, sold it. They scurried to try to find me a car that matched the one I ordered and it turned out to be a lemon. That's right, a lemon. From start to finish with Ford it was one thing after another. They were extremely unhelpful at the corporate level and I even hired an attorney. At the end of the day, I was able to get rid of my vehicle and went to BMW where I am treated right. I had that Ford for a year and a half and it was a very stressful year and half that I am happy to be done with. Good riddance. read more

This is a review for the sales part of San Tan Ford. We had a guy named Chet follow up with us for months on buying a car from last Fall. He did call a little too often, and we did tell him our concerns and issues. He seemed to not here the issues or concerns we voiced. We told him we most likely weren't going to be buying until Mar'15 or later, sometime in 2015. Guess he was super eager to sell us a car and just kept at it. It did seem like high pressure sales to us, and he was telling us what we wanted to hear and basically lying to us, or maybe he didn't know. We wasted a lot of time here and got our hopes up. This really negative experience we had in January 2015 made us decide that if we should choose a Ford to buy, we will not be buying it from this dealership. The other guy that followed up after Chet was not friendly, but at least he gave us correct information. Please train your sales people correctly. They cannot make ANY deal happen at ANY time. Please be realistic to your customers. Ever since this time in January 2015, Chet never followed up with us nor apologized to us for leading us in the wrong direction. We most likely will get a new car in the next week or so and we would rather drive to Mesa or Tempe to one of those Ford dealerships, at least to buy the car. read more

I called the service dept regarding the recall letter I received. I spoke to the person and asked if I could make an appointment. She said they did not make appointments for recalls, and that I they only accepted walk ins and I would need to leave my car for 3 to 4 days. I was stunned. I questioned her it, and she said "well we service over 200 cars a day". I thanked her, and I called Larry Miller Ford, and my request was handled quickly, and I have scheduled appointment to have the recall issue resolved. read more

This is the kind of place that will try and pressure you into making a deal at full MSRP. Went in to drive a car, sales rep was a super nice guy. Had a great experience driving the car - we were able to take the car out ourselves without sales guy which was nice. As soon as we got back the sales manager came out and started asking to make a deal but couldn't even understand financing loan amounts or terms. In addition to this he wouldn't listen to me when I asked for simple information to be included in a sales quote. He just kept saying 0% interest financing over and over again. 0% financing is great but not when you're selling at full MSRP, got to be more competitive than that, especially with all the other dealerships around. I've read many of the Yelp reviews, and a lot of people are hung up on the dealer-added Desert Protection package. I'll agree that no one wants to see extra fees tacked on to their sales invoice. So knowing about it ahead of time, despite how transparent the dealership may or may not be, is important! With that out of the way ... I went in after the first of the month to purchase a F150, and the dealership didn't seem too crowded. And I'm happy to report that the service I received was excellent, from all those involved (general sales manager, salesman, finance, new car orientation, etc), and I am grateful for it. I have had negative experiences at a handful of the local Chandler dealerships (not naming any names), but San Tan Ford was NOT on of them. I have not been in to see the Service department yet, but I will say the Parts department was very easy to deal with. I obviously hope my new truck lasts me a LONG time, but if I was in the market for a new automobile I would not hesitate to purchase another vehicle from them. read more

My first experience with the service department was fantastic. Eric Thompson the service advisor helped me troubleshoot the situation over the phone, then gave me a reservation to come in a couple of days later, they were ready and waiting for me. Had a terrible experience here with Moe. Came in for a truck I saw online, it's price was listed wrong from a third party website. Even though I inquired about it before I came in and they told me it was available, nothing was mentioned about the price being inaccurate before coming in. Anyways, I was told the truck was $5,000 more than what it said online. He asked before moving forward if I would be okay with that price, I told him yes but I want to see the final out of the door costs. He began to tell me he could not give me this number until he ran a hard credit score?? What? At this point I knew this wasn't going to end well. We discussed this for what felt like 45 minutes, until finally he magically was able to show me an out the door final cost without running my credit. He then asked if I was okay with the number and I told him absolutely not, the closing costs, fees, and additional charges were far more than I desired. He then began to keep asking why I wasn't okay with the price and that I should have known that's how much it was going to be and that I was wasting his time. He then began to tell me if he could just run my credit score he'd be able to see what deals he could get me, since I had given him my monthly max payment I could afford. After running my credit he came back with monthly payments that were $65 over my absolute max capability. After telling him it's too high, he began questioning why I couldn't afford it and told me I made a ton of money, he also told me "your girl can't help you with an extra $50 a month". All while still repeating over and over how I was wasting his time and that he wished he would have ended the negotiation a long time ago. He tried telling me over and over about numbers and math as if I didn't understand, I am an electrical engineer who works for a large construction company. I work in electrical estimating for large 100 million dollar projects, I work with money and math on a daily basis. Yet he kept making it seem like I was the one who didn't understand. All in all, terrible experience, hardly any negotiating was able to happen and he kept acting surpised every time I told him I don't agree with the numbers even though I said it from the beginning. Will make sure I go spend my money somewhere else and never recommend here. read more

I would give zero stars if that was an option. They kept our vehicle from Wed-Tues and gave it back to us without fixing the original problem that caused us to bring it to them in the first place. They claimed they could never get the A/C to act up and the A/C literally went out the day after we got our car back. It's beyond frustrating to spend hundreds of dollars and not have the problem fixed. I feel very taken advantage of and I would never bring any of our vehicles to this dealership again. read more

Jeff is the best! He spent almost his entire day walking me all over their parking lot so I could see all options and buy the perfect F150. After that he spent hours getting the price where I needed it. The truck is amazing and pulls my boat like a champ! I am so grateful for the patience and extremes kindness from the whole staff.
