This place has a nice environment, kind of noisy for my taste in restaurant, but not that bad , the live music is great, however the service is terrible, I won't say they treated us bad, they were nice, just waitresses have no idea of how to treat customers regarding serving, they brought one plate of food before drinks or anything, we had to finally get up to ask for the drinks, so that we could wait for the plate for my partner, they brought a plate different than the one he chose, the other waitress drop the glass of water over the table and tried to clean the utensils with the same towel he was using to clean the table, when he saw we put the knife aside, he asked if we wanted it changed. My wife and I have been coming to Sancho often for the past couple of years because it is close to her parents and the ambiance and food are very good. Sancho has hosted many of our special occasion meals...Mother's Day, Father's Day and birthdays. The staff has always been attentive and helpful (regardless if speaking Spanish or English). The food is solid well prepared Spanish fare with all the expected favorites including tapas and paella. The portions are generous and we typically leave with a doggie bag or two. The sangria is refreshing. Typically when we visit it is for a late Sunday lunch, and there is musical entertainment which adds to the overall experience. This place is a nice gem in a pretty isolated area. The decor is very hip and seemingly out of place but it's a welcome change of scenery. From what I gathered none of the serves spoke English, however the service was very good even with the communication barrier. We tried the tabla mixta, a mix of cured meats and cheese, and it was great. Just what you expect from a dish like that. Every Thursday have free wine and sangria all night. The wine is actually really good! Very delicious and not a bad quality. It makes for a fun night with tapas and free wine. They have fish croquetas which taste like like fish sticks pretty much. I've been here a few times before and you can definitely notice a change --- either owner or chef --- what the food has definitely suffered. We started with caldo gallego, gazpacho and tabla mixta. The gazpacho was good but the caldo gallego was cold and not traditional. We sent it back to the kitchen but they charged us for it anyway. I had frequented Sancho on 3-4 previous occasions. But todays experience left a lot to be desired. I got there with my wife about 6:30 PM. The restaurant had just one other couple sitting. I was told to pick a chair and sit myself, which I did. We ordered the Special which was rice and seafood paella, which came with a lentil soup and a dessert. My wife ordered large bowl of a Galician Soup and some ham croquettes. The ham croquettes smelled like perfume and were almost inedible. The Galician Soup was so salted that she could not eat eat. The rice and seafood paella what literary 3 spoonfuls, and the lentil soup came in a bowl so small as you would feed a baby. We complained about the Galician Soup's saltines and the waiter just lifted his shoulders and said "too bad". My dessert, included with the meal was virtually a sliver. Come time to pay, we noticed that all the prices had been blown up. The croquettes, which were listed at $8 dollars came billed at $12 and the Galician Soup also listed at $8 was billed also at $12. When we returned to the car we checked online to verify the menu cost and there were the lowered prices, so we called and spoke with the owner and he said that the prices on his website was not under his control. He claimed that people had hacked him. All and all I don't mind paying for food when the food is good and I know what the price is. Sancho lost a good customer that day. read more

I have to give to Sancho Restaurant 5 stars because it truly worth them. Of course, I was trying for two days to get a Reservation, but it was packed Friday and Saturday, and didn't have more option than sit on the bar, and... OMG! It was more than worth it. Our atendant Ruben, very special, his recommendations, attention and service is a PLUS for the restaurant. The food... can I say Awesomely Delicious, the portion for two is actually for 4, and the price worth it. The croquetas, terrific!!! Great variety of beers and wines for you to choose. The outside doesn't do this place justices. The portions of the taps are generous & very flavorful. The white sangria is very sweet the waiter stated it was a cava. As for the red is deep & strong just like I like it. We ordered various taps starting of with some bread oil & salt comments of the house of course. The 1st tap to come out was the multi cheese & hams tap can I say flavor full & enough for 6 to share. Then came the carne with onions perfect balance, then the fried garbanzos in which if you have tired to make these at home you know they are hard to soften & boy did these just melt with the flavored sauce it was made in. The calamari was served with a taters sauce but what I enjoyed the most was that they weren't over cooked & chewy it seem to be very common trade when I order calamari. The croquettes with prosciutto where soft & lightly breaded. As for the desert I had the Catalina cream in which is the same as a creme brûlée but creamier with a hint of anis I don't know if that's the way you spell it in english. The hostess greeted us and indicated that she could not sit us since around 8-8:30 the had a party that'd would occupy the entire restaurant. She offered the bar to us not realizing we had 3 kids. Very nice restaurant in random plaza. The decor was upscale and trendy. We went on a Saturday night and they had a gentleman singing and playing guitar, which we enjoyed. We found the food to be very well made and flavorful, the only negative in terms of food was that one of the croquetas de bacalao had a small spine in it but hey at least we knew they were made from real fish! The main reason I don't rate the restaurant 5 stars is the service; they mistakenly gave us only croquetas de bacalao when we ordered a mix of both, when we made the server aware he picked off half of the croquetas already on our table to switch them out. Not that we were trying to get away with the extra food but just found it tacky. However, I still really enjoyed dinning here and plan on coming back. read more

Had a Groupon. Nearly fell of my chair when I saw the prices in the menu. After all, this is SW 8Street near Sweetwater not Coral Gables or Brickell. But alas, there we were. Thank goodness if was Sunday and they had made the large seafood paella at $15 per serving. Not bad but not great. We also ordered a plate of grilled vegetables that were truly delicious.
