The kombucha is really smooth and enjoyable, I love that they have it on tap although the corn straws they have break really easily so either dine in and sip or bring your own for on the go. I love this little eatery in downtown Frederick! My only complaint is the hours because I like to get food late sometimes. Other than that, they're great! It's a cozy little establishment that has a couple outdoor tables and a few indoors for dining. They have a cozy kitchen to make all the food. The menu is a perfect size because too many options make it too hard to choose. I like that they have a seasonal menu that will reflect the ingredients that are fresh and available. I've had a bunch of items here like hummus of course, salad with raw taco meat (walnuts), buffalo cauliflower salad and a cookie, as well as zucchini noodles (raw). I love the flavor profiles and the freshness of ingredients! I'll opt for salad anytime! The prices and portions are perfectly paired for the right amount of good for you food. I never feel grossly over full from bad food and am happy for good choices here. There is some indoor seating for colder weather but also a good option for take out. The folks here are helpful and can explain menu items if you have questions. The menu is helpfully marked for those concerned with gluten. They do waffles and wraps, too, which is nice. Check their website or visit in person to find out specials! Smoothie bowls and kombucha also available. Only complaint: the gluten free vegan peanut butter cookie is not very good. This is a bit of a late review but I stopped at Hippy Chick back on Mother's day and what a great experience! I think that it was the service here that really pushed this to a 5 star review. Not only did the server answer all of my menu questions as well as provide her own recommendations, they were giving away small rose bouquets to all of the moms that were celebrating mothers day! For food we ordered the spinach pesto wrap and Artichoke & olives panini. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the panini just because it felt a bit more cohesive vs the wrap which didn't have any sort of binder to it. If it's a hot summer day, I would also recommend trying out the fresh mint lemonade as a cool refreshing drink! Not to forget - Honorable mention to the side of chips and hummus! She was told breakfast was only Friday-Sunday. Ok, that's fine. We sat down to read over the menu, when a guy walked in that apparently the people working there knew. They offered him breakfast items, he said if it was no trouble, they told him, "no trouble". 5 minutes ago we were told no breakfast items were available. This guy kept talking and mentioning he was on shrooms and the conversation between him and the girls was not appropriate. It made us all uncomfortable, so we left. Had an açaí bowl today and it was so fresh, fabulous, amazing, outstanding, and just super delicious! I chose granola, strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, and mango for my toppings. The staff are so helpful and friendly. We ate outside since the weather was so nice. I had the Buddha salad with beet hummus and pita. WOW!!!! It came with a lemon vinaigrette dressing that I barely even touched because the flavors in the salad were so fantastic already! Apparently there are multiple hummus restaurants in Frederick. This one has gone quite explicitly for the hippie vibe, with the hummus complimented by smoothie bowls and a few other all-vegan offerings. It's right on the main downtown stretch. The garlic hummus that I got (I had hoped for Old Bay, but it didn't seem to be on offer) fit the bill, with just the right amount of warm pita complimenting its cool smoothness. The little dessert balls that I tried were definitely on the "health side" of things with some sort of grains and/or seeds that I couldn't quite identify, but they fit the bill. It wasn't overly expensive. It seems the vegetarian scene in Frederick is on the rise, and this place makes for a nice quick breakfast/lunch. read more

They have a variety of hummus to choose from and I got garlic. The food was fresh the hummus consistency was perfect and delicious and the bread was chunky toast. So good. Lots of vegan choices including a snickers ice cream that was a standout. The staff was very friendly and super industrious in the kitchen. This is a storefront restaurant with some seating indoors and tables outside near the sidewalk. The truest test for the food was how I felt after eating. I was satisfied by the food's tastiness and freshness and I felt good! I didn't suffer any Mr Creosote symptoms, no food fatigue or questionable ingredients best found in a chemistry text. The Chicks were in full effect, in the house, for the "in the streets" festival on a beautiful suny day in downtown Frederick. Slinging Hummas to passersby the "chicks" were certainly representing the genre that brings back memeories or is it flashbacks from the 60's... Well its gotta be memories because thse chicks were defenitely more progressive version than their psychedelic countgerparts. Either way they 'hummus" which is the point of this review is plentyful, tasty and served allegedly "fresh" and "Vegan" friendly. In fact its so vegan friendly that the flyer claims the percentage of "Vegan" in the Hummus and preparation thereof is in the billions. A lofty claim but there certainly is something to be said for the "vegan" vibe even though its likely that at some point bovine based fertilizer was used during the growing process for the grain based ingredients that make up Hummus. Try the Buffalo Cauliflower Tacos or Chickpea (haha) Artichoke hearts "crab dip" and let the Hippy Chick Vibes wash over you... Just use caution if conservative or patriotic, as the chicks definitely throw up the "bummer" sign when approached by the "alpha male" species... We've come in several times this summer for Hawaii bowls and healthy lunches. The staff is friendly and the shop is clean. There is a cute little patio area in the back but I always prefer the window seat while exploring a new book from the bookshelf. The menu items are very delicious but the amounts are always inconsistent, especially with the smoothie bowls. Download the menu and you'll see beautiful pictures of overflowing smoothie bowls. You'll pay $10 for a bowl but you never know what you're gonna get! One day, you'll get a full bowl with generous toppings. The next time, you might get around half the smoothie with just a sprinkle of toppings. It still tastes amazing but baby smoothie bowls make me sad. Tip: give the market street tacos a try. I didn't know vegan food could taste this good! My parents keep kosher so this is really the only spot they can eat in Frederick when they come visit me. This small restaurant though, makes vegan food taste spectacular. The last time I was there I had the Cheesy Potato Nachos. Honestly, I would have a hard time telling the difference between the vegan cheese and real cheese. Their Ricotta Grilled Cheese is also always a delight. I think it's really cool that there's a board in there that introduces the individual employees. I've never seen a restaurant do that before.
