Tucked away just off Main Street, this spot is easy to miss if you don't know it's there, but I'm glad we found it. We stopped by on Christmas Eve Eve, and it was such a fun, low-key way to kick off the holiday. The vibe was super chill the second we walked in. A solid neighborhood brewery with good energy. The bartender was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference, especially during a busy holiday week. It felt like the kind of place where regulars hang out, but newcomers are just as welcome. They had live music going that night, which added to the cozy, festive feel without being overwhelming. You could still talk, laugh, and actually enjoy your beer, which I appreciate! It felt more like background vibes than a full-on concert, in the best way. I ordered the Lindy Light, and it was exactly what I wanted: crisp, refreshing, and easy to drink lager. Perfect if you're not looking for something super heavy or complicated. The tap list had a nice mix overall, so whether you're into lighter beers or want something with a little more character, there's definitely something for you. They also have NA and cocktail options. Sand City is the perfect spot for a relaxing atmosphere and a good beer! I moved off the island a long while ago but visit family often. A friend asked to meet up and I was bummed I hadn't come sooner! Firstly the beers are great! Secondly you can bring your dog inside! Our babies sat this one out but our friends brought their lab and he was basically a regular. We watched plenty of dogs come and go during our time there. I really appreciated that when we asked for stickers, they just handed them to us without charging (not sure if this is the regular thing). Love Sand City Brewery! It has great beer, great service, and great outdoor seating. It does get crowded so depending on when you go you may be waiting a few minutes to get service. There's no food but you can order from one of the local restaurants and eat it there. Or pack your own food which is what a usually do. Lots of kids and dogs in the brewery so if that's not your thing you may get annoyed. I love it though! read more

Sand city is always great. I don't know too much about beer but they have a lot of options and something for everyone. There's an indoor area with a decent amount of space and an outside area with a handful of tables. Dog friendly. In under a decade, Sand City Brewing in the heart of Northport VIllage has become a world-class brewery known to beer lovers across the nation, and with good reason. The funky little tasting room, replete with dogs, is a blast, and can release days have lines around the corner. For a while, when I was in the throes of an obsession with juicy, fruity New England IPAs, this was my primary source as it's what they focus on, and they are GOOD, my faves being Day Drifter, Fade to Jade, Beach Glass, Washed Up and Oops I Mangoed My Pants. These days I tend to go more for pilsners and stouts. Sand City doesn't do much of the former, alas, but their stouts are absolutely amazing. Even Mo' Hygge imperial stout rules, with flavors of pecans and vanilla. Also love The Anatomy of Restlessness bourbon barrel-aged stout and the Jax's Patch Over pumpkin brew. I decided on "Passionate Freak." It was 11% Belgian brewed with cherries. It was just okay. Possibly because I'm not a huge fan of cherries in general. Atmosphere was decent. Good music playing. Only thing missing is the sand and surf of the LEGENDARY beach that gave this wonderful brewery its name!! ;-) Truthfully, they have a WONDERFUL location, right on Main St. in Northport, hidden away just enough to let you feel like you've sailed off to some semi-secluded, semi-tropical location. We were pleasantly surprised to find it open on a Monday mid-afternoon, as most of our local (Ohio) breweries seem to have limited weekday hours, if open at all. Both indoor and outdoor seating available, COVID rules were still being followed in late May, 2021. Friendly, helpful bartender, and the Mr. was very happy with the several IPA options he tried. Sand City is definitely a fun spot to go if you've got a group of friends who want to go out for a beer...or five. There's typically 10 beers on tap, all of which are in house brews. They range from light to dark and everything else in between. I'm not a huge beer drinker but a few of their lighter beers were solid. In regards to pricing, they're fair compared to most breweries. Plan for $6-7 per glass. However, your best bang for your buck comes with their 5 beer flight. You can try 5 of 10 beers of your own choice rather than predetermined flights and all for only $12. If you're a dog owner/lover, they are dog friendly and typically there are 2-3 dogs roaming around at a time. Food wise, they only offer pretzel rods so plan to eat before or after at a local restaurant that's within walking distance. My biggest bugaboo about the establishment is that they are overly strict about how many people they allow in at a time. I've always had to wait outside on their "porch" which if the line is long, you just want to give up and walk across to another one of the local eateries or bars. read more

I have been here a few times and I have had many different experiences but I am specifically writing about my most recent visit. I stopped in here for a refreshing beer on an extremely hot week day. I came as soon as it open so my group was the only customers in the brewery! It wasn't listed on the board yet but I asked if they had a sour on tap. Luckily they did! It was called "Be Nice Until it's Time Not to be Nice" (blood orange, raspberries & peaches) and I would rate it a 4.2/5. Solid beer but I felt the blood orange took over the other fruity flavors. I also tried "A Fairly Simple Operation - Blueberry Ale (golden ale with blueberries). I would rate this a 4.5/5 but the others in my party would rate it a 5/5 (they loved it)! They bought a 4 pack ($16) to take home! They didn't have the sour in cans available for purchase. Some other things to note! The location is great! There is usually a few 2 seater tables outside. The inside is a little small so go early to grab a table. Dog friendly! They do not sell food besides bags of chips but you are permitted to bring food in. Too expensive, unfortunately. The beers are average, and we were even highly suggested (pressured?) to buy a certain beer that wasn't on tap. So we had to buy a 4 pack of cans ($17!?). Literally tasted like a dirty bud light. Literally like bud light had dirt in it. Meh. Additionally, the beer I had on tap there was $8 for a plastic cup (yes, I know due to COVID). Finally after tons of issues with the town, they were finally allowed to open their tap room. Everytime I came to visit LI they were always closed (not their fault). I was very excited to get a chance to go this time, and their beer held up too all my expectations. Tap room has a very beachy feel, fits right into the surrounding town. They are known for their IPAs and my favorite, their Gose series. But their Southdown Breakfast stout is very good. They recently got beer slushies, which were not very good, but is a nice way to try to include someone who doesn't like beer. read more

I like this brewery. Good location in the town of Northport with lots of nearby restaurants and shops. There is always a good crowd and sometimes there are really cute dogs too. The beers are good but many are high in alcohol content so watch out. They are a true brewery with no spiked seltzer's, wine or other beverages for sale. They also have a decent amount of seating both inside and out. Due to COVID they limit the number of tables/people inside and you must wear a mask. This a must stop if you are in the area. read more

This is a great brewery on Long Island. They have some delicious IPA's. I was recently there picking up a limited collaboration with Other Half Brewery from Brooklyn, the beer is awesome. It's nice to have options this good on the Island because I was getting tired of driving to Brooklyn or even Massachusetts for a good IPA. It's right in the main part of town, near a bunch of great restaurants. Northport is a nice little town that's very dog friendly. I like to bring my little guy there once in a while and go for a walk by the water, stop in for a quick bite and now some great beer. I've been to this brewery a couple of times since my friends live relatively close. I was never a big fan of the beer; all of their brews always have a lot of sediment. And the place always smells musty. I haven't been to a brewery in a long time that doesn't keep that smell at bay, it's just too overwhelming. Long Island brewing at its best! This alleyway brewery is located in the village of Northport just 1 block from the gorgeous harbor and local park. When you find the alleyway for this brewery it is lined with a wooden boardwalk and signs above giving you the feel of walking to the beach. When you get inside you will see a small room with 3 long tables a few beer barrels and a long bar. The room feels like you are going into a shed and the roof is slanted but right infront of you are the large beer stills so while you drink your beer you can really see the whole workshop. When we got to the bar I got a beer flight and brought back to my group at one of the tables which also had a big box of pretzels on the tables. I liked all of their beer which was awesome. Everyone had great flavor! As am drinking my brews and chatting with friends this place was a great time. I would also mention this place is dog and kid friendly but be aware the space is very small and gets very loud! Cheers! I came to lindenhurst sand city for the band. I enjoyed the 4 beer flight. I went outside during the band break and came back in and someone had either stolen my jacket or taken the wrong one. I was upset and thirsty so I asked them at the bar as a courtesy if I could have a beer. The response was why should we give you a courtesy? ( I understand they arent reponsible for lost/stolen items) The band was going on so I went towards the stage. 5 minutes later I see them harrassing my friend who drove me, they asked him and I to leave, how nasty of them and embarrassing for us. The markup of beer sales at a brewery is 300-500%. Such cheapness, such a low class establishment. Wont be returning. My first experience with sand city. I watched in broad daylight as a guy came out the back door out of their northport location who was so drunk he fell on the sidewalk. Thank you Sand City brewing for putting Long Island on the beer map. Sure there were microbrews, blue point and others but if you are really into beer, sand city has done it. Their IPAs are even being tossed into the Northeast IPA category. The love of beer has evolved and there are beers and breweries out there that have demand and value. I have driven 4 -8 hours just for can releases (northeast = Vermont and Maine) and I have traded beer via postal service before. It's fantastic. The more you get involved the higher your tastes and the crazier you get for stellar releases. The kicker is it is hard to come by beers of value. You can't trade for somebody's alchemist focal banger or hill farmstead with a local brew from New York because not many of them have been in demand. Well that time is over. Sand city is on the map and people have been driving hours and waiting on line just for their releases. It's exciting and I'm lucky to be so close to the action. I've been here multiple times for their releases and it's always been worth it. In the city of sand you might think water would be king. Nay! 'Tis beer! Sand City Brewing will make you forget that water is a basic necessity and have you hoping that their beer can replace it. Thursday was trip numero dos and though it ranked ever so slightly under my first trip, I was still impressed with their high quality brews. It's not necessarily a brewery that can be linked to others in an effort to make a day of beer adventure, but that didn't stop my buddies and I from traveling way up to the quaint town of Northport after finishing with the Holbrook duo of breweries. When you do get to Northport, don't expect to necessarily spot SCB as you drive down Main St. Look for the gate with the beautiful logo that enters you into this city of beer. It's like a boardwalk that'll lead you straight through its doors and into a brewery with strong hints of maritime and nautical grunginess. I have to bring up the odd smell that filled the air inside. A hot, watery stench that wasn't overpowering and unnoticeable after some time, but hopefully not a consistent aroma (I don't recall it after my first visit). The only other minor flaw was the lack of a filled board of brews. My first visit had a whopping ten choices (I miss you Close Talker and Southdown!). This time there were seven, but through a flight (and my buddy's pint) I tried six of these. The flight actually consisted of five choices placed in tiny logo snifters in a logo plank. The place has gone all out with that logo and I don't blame them! $12 for that flight of five though you could also get one 5oz taste for $3, or do what my chums did and spend $10 to get a pint and keep the glass. Once purchased, we set up shop on a barrel disguised as a table and started drinking. Two double IPAs (Second Wave and Even Mo' Mo-Fo), a black IPA (Black Sand), a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout (Rebellion) and my favorite of the five, a tripel aged in Pinot noir barrels with cherries and honey (Fra-gee-lay). Belgian table beer (Tafel Bier) filled the pint glasses of my buddies. From these six, I can't say any beer wasn't fabulous. I like IPAs, but I don't love them. At Sand City? I've sampled quite a few and they just don't taste like many others...they're better. They give you a hoppy kick while not blowing out your tastebuds. Their usage of hops makes them a true maverick of the beer world. Overall, Sand City Brewing has planted itself deep in the sands of Long Island. It might be up there in Northport, but I wouldn't shy away from proclaiming that it's a true destination brewery. I'll be back soon (my sis was jealous of my visit without her), but until I get there, go for yourself and learn why water is overrated in the city of sand. read more

We tried em all collectively and I couldnt wait to leave that hot, smelly, hell hole That being said, every beer I've had of theirs prior to this day was great, so I'd come back and give them a shot again; maybe I was getting sick, or maybe something was up. Meh. First off I don't have a handle bar mustache and am not an IPA guy. I like pilsners and bourbon. I stopped in to buy a case of beer for my buddies birthday and I don't get this place. It was crowded and all the beers taste the same all bitter IPAs. I once asked for something like a Pilsner and I got carbonated Pinesol. Anyway I had to wait on a line with a bunch of man children oogling over IPA like Ralphie ogling over a red Ryder BB gun and the place was so understaffed. There were more infants in there (great parenting) than workers. After waiting 20 min to pay $115 for 24 cans of beer the bar tender flipped around her tablet with a suggested 20% tip! Hell no am I paying $22 for 30 seconds of work to put cans in a box. After a dirty look from the bar tender I promptly made my way out past 16 dogs and 8 baby carriers. read more
