As much as I always liked the sun rail today, it was a very bad experience I decided to bring in my parents to use and teach them how to use the SunRail mind you these are older people. So everything went very well until the very end when we were about to get off and there was an older lady trying to get down from the second floor we had to wait few seconds, so as we were going to exit the train, they put it in out of service mode in Debary and the door shut right on my mom's leg, which caused her a big bruise. My mom is 73 years old and obviously this is not good for an older lady. If it would've been the other lady, that was a lot smaller and fragile she would've gotten really hurt. Where is the security procedure in this train? you have 30 seconds to get off the train ???? You need to have some Saftey procedure before someone gets hurt. read more

Absolutely LOVE Sunrail! As soon as it opened in May of 2014, I used it for my daily commute to work. After a year it coincidentally was time to get my oil changed as it had been one year for that. The service manager started to chastise me for not being in for a year and I said "check the mileage". Only 3k in one year! This was every year until I retired this summer! And we exclusively used my car for travel! The conductors are super nice, shout out to Stephanie, Benson and Christine. The price can't be beat. I still use it whenever I go to Winter Park plus it's only a half mile walk to the WP Farmers Market. Also if you Google sunrail pub crawl some clever person put together the bars at the stops, but they did omit a few. For example Orlando Brewing is at Orlando Health/Amtrak stop, less than one block. If you haven't used Sunrail yet, try it. Then spread the word! read more

Clean, convenient public transport in Florida?! I'd have said you're kidding. A Sunrail ride from Sanford to Sand Lake was a great experience, as the train was fast and clean and the stations looked nice as well. We're no regular riders but saw a lot of commuters who mostly got off at the Church Street and Florida Hospital for Women station. I also like that the ticket can be used to transfer to a Lynx bus, and it was easy to use as well. I'd happily take Sunrail again! read more

This used to be "the end of the line" on the south side, but with the Sunrail expansion, it's "just another stop" - or is it? After all, this is still the station to access the airport for anyone who cares about the environment (and his/her wallet). From this station, it's just a short bus ride, or a $7 Uber Lyft - which, compared to driving from where you live to incur additional parking costs, makes this option a bargain if your trip is longer than a couple of days. More important, doing that would be a balm to the soul that wants to do right by mother earth and not foul up the environment any more than we absolutely have to. Just coordinate the Sunrail station with Lynx schedules, and this could be very do-able most times of the day. On my most recent visit to this station, I took Sunrail to go to a place which was a 40-minute walk away, which was very do-able until the hot weather gets here. A third option would be to take your bike on the train - lotsa folks doing just that. I really sense that Sunrail has reached the tipping point, as rides this week saw heavier use than, say, 6 months ago. Not a moment too soon. Please: open your mind to possibilities, and give this (public transit) a try. It's easier than you think! read more

Convenient access to Florida Mall area and Lynx buses, location is in a busy area so you're close to some restaurants and gas stations! Fast service! Highly recommended if you want to save gas, wear and tear on your vehicle, and avoid traffic. read more

I know it was a free ride, but it was great fun. The upper level was the best place to ride since it was much cooler up there and you could really see the landscape better. My husband and I boarded the Sunrail train at the Sand Lake station. The train stopped at the following stations from Sand Lake: Orlando Health/Amtrak, Church Street, Lynx Central, Fl Hospital Health Village, Winter Park, Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, Lake Mary, Sanford, and finally DeBary. We boarded the train at 1:45pm and got off in DeBary at 3:15 (half hour late). The train was PACKED on the way there. Standing room only. The available seats were spacious and comfortable. All the passengers were very pleasant though and so was the crew. Once we got to DeBary, we got off. We hoped to see some restaurants or fast food places, but there was just one lonely old convenience store and a guy named Jake, selling BBQ food on the side road in his yard. Gotta hand it to him - thinking outside the box like that. Good Luck, Jake. (See my photos on Sunrail for a pic of his place.) On the way back from DeBary the train was almost empty. Once we hit Sanford, though, the train started getting fuller. I would say that when we finally arrived back at the Sand Lake station, the train was about 1/3rd full. Next time we take a ride, I will definitely stop and get off at the Winter Park station. It is so close to all the downtown shopping and eateries. Hopefully if the train becomes popular the other stations will do the same. Oh, yeah ... I did meet a guy who lives within walking distance of the Longwood station and was actually on the train for a reason - to go to the LYNX station and attend a meeting at a downtown church. Lots of parking space is what I enjoy about this station. Located right behind a Dennys and McDonalds, you have options for indoor air and a drink if you need to wait for a train. An attendant is usually available to let you know if you missed your train or if there are other concerns. I have left my car here for overnight trips. I just leave a very visible sign on the dash to let them know when I am expected to pick it up. My thinking is that this may prevent a possible towing if someone feels the car might be abandoned. read more

I don't use the Sunrail to commute for work, but it's fun to take it from Orlando to Winter Park or Sanford. The trains always seem to be right on time. The ride is comfortable, though it can get a bit packed sometimes. There are outlets for electronics and WiFi. It's very easy to load and reload your card and here are always people working at the platform to help anyone who has questions. I would definitely use it for work if ever needed and will continue to use it for leisure. read more

We decided to take an impromptu trip up to Winter Park for a picnic yesterday. This is the third time we have boarded at this station, and so far so good. The station has a pretty inconvenient location, close to absolutely nothing. You could probably take a quick uber to Rachels, but there are better places for steak. I will not fault the station for this, as proximity to railroad tracks is the most important feature, and they get a 10 for this. The lot is good sized, as we have never had an issue. We have parked during a City game, and also mid work week, with no issues. There is virtually NO shade, so be prepared to melt when you return to your car later in the day. If you are going NORTH (Currently, the only option), the trail will be on the opposite tracks. There are a few ticket booths on each side. We have been pushing it upon arrival and have ended up buying our ticket at the destination most times. Just make sure to tap on and off :) The station is clean and feels as safe as it can be for the location. Looking forward to more visits. read more

I've been wanting to take a ride on the train, ever since it opened. Finally got to go yesterday. Started out at the Sandlake station. Met a young lady named Anna. She showed me how to purchase my ticket. Told me that 'I don't get many adults as excited as me to ride the train.' Very pleasant and friendly! Made my day that she was there when I got back! Think she was as excited as I was! Trains were fantastic and on time. Clean and comfortable. Cannot wait until the next trip! read more

I am actually writing my review while riding the Sun Rail, ha. I have been taking it while I visit Orlando as I have family that lives in Sanford, but friends that are closer to Disney. The trains are brand new, offer ample seating, WIFI and plug-ins. There are also bathrooms on board if you can't make it an hour without peeing. Items where I think they could improve: -WIFI goes in-and-out. It is a train, so it's understandable it may not be the best. But a good amount of your time will be fighting to reconnect. -The Sanford station has no walkway to downtown and the station is on the outskirts of town. If you do walk, there is an overpass you have to go over that isn' that safe. I did the walk and some lady pulled over and asked if I needed a ride! read more

3 stars because there is no weekend service!! Rode it the Friday after Thanksgiving and the train was packed. They should consider adding hand rails since it was standing room only. The train was nice and clean. It was a smooth ride. Got on at the Church St. location (no parking-you will have to pay a meter or lot-defeats the purpose IMHO), but there is parking available at several of the other locations. Got off at the Sanford location (took about an hour-there are about 7 stops in between). There is a shuttle (seats like 6-8) that will take you to downtown Sanford free of charge and takes about 10-15 mins. If not then you will have to cab it (not sure of the $$) or take Lynx which will cost $2 each way. Rail was timely and runs about every 30 mins or so. Round trip cost of the ticket was $5.50. You can pay by cash, credit, debit. Please also remember that you have to "tap on and tap off" at your stops. read more

4.5 stars for the sun rail. It's always clean, on-time, affordable, and a great option to winter park for dinner. Plus, my son loves it. If they were open on the weekends, I'd give them a perfect 5. read more

I had a great experience riding the SunRail today! It cost $2 and 20 minutes to go from the Sand Lake station to the Winter Park station. This will probably be my new way of transportation when I want to dine in the Winter Park area. Yo, and free wifi? I can dig that! read more

I decided to use Sunrail for jury duty instead of dealing with Orlando rush hour traffic. It turned out great. Sandlake has a huge parking lot which is free. Round trip to the courthouse and back was $3.75. The train was on time and not packed. The ride was comfortable and best of all it was stress free. 08/06/14 Hubby and I go to Winter Park to shop and mainly to eat at 4Rivers Smokehouse! We went over early with train schedule printed at home. We rode round trip the whole route and loved it. It was so nice and clean. We went to second level and enjoyed seeing WP and other areas throughout the route from another view. The employees were so nice and friendly. It was not real busy until several got on when we were going back to Debary from Sand Lake and working folks used it. We are so hoping it will be a success. If we lived there we would use it to go to WP as it is perfect to get off there and shop, eat, etc in downtown area. Hope it expands We do hope it stays nice as two ladies with 4 young children got on eating ice creams and were quite messy. That is not Sunrails fault, that is lack of respect for property of others. First, kudos to Central Florida for ever getting this project approved and completed. Done right, train and rail systems are far superior in moving traffic from one place to another. We rode the entire line during the 1st week and were impressed with the trains, though there are a couple design questions. *First, they may have set the record in most narrow seats possible on any transportation vehicle, air or land. There are also no straps or handles suspended from the ceiling for riders who can't find a seat, and there are those riders. *The running lights in the cars stay on constantly, which is fine, but there's no reason they shouldn't switch off (like most trains) when a certain light level is produced from the outside. Lot of energy lost there. *They have handicap boarding, but it's far more a hassle than regular boarding unless you absolutely must use a wheelchair. Rather than have a ramp stored under the floor that can slide out onto the platform, a worker needs to go to the far side of the car, manipulate a cattle-like gate and carry the ramp to the door. There, he has to attach it and by then the general public has begun to storm the entrance. *This is picky, but the alarm sound when the train is coming sounds a lot more like a nuclear blast warning than a simple train whistle. The biggest disappointment was the train service itself. The Sand Lake station is convenient to nothing and rather than lay new track, the train simply follows the existing Amtrak rails. A lot more cost effective, but if you want this train to truly be utilized in any way over then next 50 years, you have to make it convenient to high-traffic areas. Asking passengers to take this brand new train and then rely on the Lynx bus system for the rest of their commute is like ferrying them across a lake and then saying they've got to get off on an island near the shore. Right now, the train doesn't run during a two-hour lunch window, not after 11pm and never on the weekends. Federal holidays? You're on your own. The inconvenience of that schedule could cripple ridership. We are not a 9-5 town. And in the 1st week, it really shouldn't be that hard to stay on schedule. On our leg back, we were 20-30 minutes behind. The other day, one train broke down and the other was involved in an accident. That's simply unacceptable and hopefully will iron itself out -- soon. And if you happen to be one of those cars waiting for the train to pass...don't be a dumbass. 11-year-olds know not to sit on train tracks. All in all, we really enjoyed our ride. The employees and volunteers were all friendly and helpful. The trains are nice and new (which still doesn't mean you'll love the restrooms). This is a baby step in the transportation future for Orlando. I hope it goes well and only grows from here. read more

This was the second time using sunrail...and oddly enough the second time the conductor ..Gilbert..was of great help...first time ..had no time to purchase before train left station...I assumed I could purchase on the train...not the case...but gilbert allowed me to ride ..which in turn..got me to a very important appointment...today...purchased fare ...ticket did not print but was charged to card...and again...Gilbert...went above and beyond ..showed the charge on my cell...again he said not to worry ...and allowed me to board to make my meeting on time ...great service from gilbert ...and sunrail read more
