The lady working at the store was very knowledgeable, patient, and made my shopping experience comfortable. I was in the area for business today and I just decided to walk in and see what they had, I didn't get a hello, a greeting or even a smile. The owner Jocelyn was the one there so I inquired about the business, and about her interest in carrying a new vendor. Rather than being forthright and expressing a lack of interest, she decided to scoff at me and tell me not to interrupt her while she was with a customer. All in all, she was very cold, and demeaning. This is the last person I would want representing my brand, and now reading the below review I understand that this is normal here. One of my least favorite tasks is writing a negative review about a business since I , too , am a business owner /entrepreneur,and I know how important it is to keep customers happy with exceptional communication and service . I brought an expensive Swiss watch to Sandcastle Time for a new battery and discovered that the movement needs replacing. Jocelyn, the owner, offered to have her repair person give me an estimate. She provided me with two yellow slips that had no charge for estimated for the watch and a necklace that needed restringing . When she called me to advise that the cost for a new movement is several hundred dollars ,and I learned that she is not certified for repair of this particular watch which would nullify my warranties, I told her that I would send it to the LA watch dealer where I purchased the watch . In several telephone conversations that we had , she never mentioned any charges and I know from dealing with many jewelers that I am never charged for an estimate When I went to pick up the watch and necklace she asked for my credit card . I reluctantly paid her ,but honestly, I am surprised that she charged me for providing an estimate . I will dispute this charge as I believe this is poor business practice . I hope other customers learn from my unfortunate experience and ask Jocelyn to explain at the outset any charges she will be adding with the estimate . . Michele read more

I really wish I could write a solid review of this shop. I've lived in Carpinteria almost 12 years now and I've been to this shop a number of times for ring and watch repair. My first interactions with the shop was for an engagement/wedding band that needed a stone replacement. I wound up going in three times for one repair. The stone continued to fall out and the replacement is of a lesser quality than the original stone. A few years later, I thought I would give them another try with a few of my fine time pieces. I've taken two time pieces into this shop. Both times, I was told the watch would need to be sent out and that I should do it myself. I found a Jeweler in SB who took care of it and at a much lower rate than Sandcastle time quoted me. My final attempt this local Carpinteria jeweler (which would be so convenient for me) was recently when I went in for a crown/stem replacement for another fine time piece. Again, I was told to send it out to the manufacturer myself and that they could not help me. Just to be clear, these are not super rare, or hard to service time pieces (Jacques Lemans, Geneve & Tag Heuer, Carrera) I love living in Carp and for the most part, folks are kind, warm, generous and seek to serve and please one another. For some reason, I get no love from this Jeweler. Maybe they think I'm someone else and they simply don't want my business? Is this really a legit business or is it a front for cleansing funny money? I can't figure it out but it would be nice if I could rely on this place. Patco Jewelers in SB has helped me each time I'm rejected/disappointed at Sandcastle time. Back to SB I go. read more
