We came here from Europe for the summer and we found this restaurant in our first day in Silverton. They served us the best orange chicken and red curry so we come back every week. We tried this for a take out lunch for our business in Mt. Angel and it was worth the drive. The food was great, (Drunken noodles, Pad Woon Sen & won ton soup). I placed a catering order for 20 people and they were extremely helpful! They even gave us complimentary soups. I ordered avocado rolls, chicken satay, chicken pad Thai and house fried rice. The food was so delicious! And the staff was extremely helpful and provided great service. read more

I was extremely upset and frustrated. We drove all the way there to eat Thai food thinking how good the food would be. But we found out they had a new owner. And the food was totally different from last time we ate. Service was bad and a waitress said the cook was still the same but she lied. It wasn't the same. Nothing tasted good. We just wasted almost $50 for food we didn't even eat. I can't even rate this place. If I pay that much, I expect good food and good service. It was really unpleasant. We got the pumpkin curry and the black mushroom garlic beef. Both were tasty. Affordable and friendly. Parking on Main Street is cheap! 25 cents buys you an hour. Lots of other little shops around, antiques and other things to stroll around and see after your meal. They have a rather large lunch combo menu. This is great Thai food! The cook - also the owner- will even come out and talk with you making sure everything is exactly what you ordered! They also do large order take out for family gatherings if you order in advance! The avocado curry is the best - great for a cold day to warm you!!!! Actually, I could give this place 2 stars for the entertainment value. But alas, it's BELOW one star. We went in (place was dead) on a Saturday evening, as we waited to see Star Wars down the block. We had eaten earlier, so just wanted a light snack/desserts. They had desserts on their menu, so we were excited. After we ordered drinks, we waited and waited and waited and waited. 15 minutes later drinks arrived (well, they arrived one at a time) and we asked if we could order, since our movie time was coming up. Our waitress said she was new and didn't speak english well. Sure fine whatever, just let us order. Ordering became quite the ordeal. 20 minutes later, she came back to say they didn't have mango ice cream. So we changed to coconut. 5 minutes later, she came back to say they didn't have coconut ice cream. 10 more minutes later our vanilla ice cream sweets arrived. We ate and ran away as fast as we could and barely made the movie. So adding up the time spent for drinks and dessert, 45 minutes. And we were THE ONLY ONES INSIDE. read more

Update to my previous outstanding review: We've eaten here a few times more recently, and something has definitely changed. I don't know if it's the owner or the cook or what. The taste was still good, but it wasn't the same as before. Particularly, there was a sense that everything was padded with vegetables. Almost ludicrously. I love veggies as much as the next guy, but if I order a dish with duck I don't expect to have to dig to find pieces of duck because I'm getting tired of eating only vegetables. I only bumped the review down a star out of respect for our excellent initial experiences here and hope that our last couple experiences were just flukes, but if I was rating on my experience in the last year alone I would be giving this 3 stars at most. read more

My partner and I had a wonderful all round experience at Sandee Thai our 1st night in Silverton! From the spacious n very comfortable booths, to the more than friendly n efficient service and finally, the totally delicious food this place was a home run from start to finish! We started with deep fried shrimps rolls and crab rangoons. There was 6 of each which, was just the right amount for 2 people. They were served perfectly crisp with a sweet dipping sauce. Very tasty indeed! For our mains, my partner ordered the evil jungle prince curry w/ chicken and I had their special crispy duck platter. She order the curry at a spiciness of 4(out of a scale of 5) which was extra spicy and, that's exactly what it was! A little to hot for my taste but, my partner absolutely loved it! My crispy duck was some of the best I've ever tasted at a Thai restaurant! Extremely crispy served with a red curried dipping sauce that was to die for! Also came with steamed veggies that were very good dipped in the sauce. If you like Thai then, we'd highly recommend Sandee Thai! read more

I should not be able to get decent, much less actually good Thai food in a town of 9,000 people in rural Oregon. But Sandee Thai has managed to bring good Thai food to Silverton. The selection is pretty standard: curries, noodles, rice dishes, so do not come here expecting some Thai rarities. If, however, it is American-esque Thai comfort food you seek, look no farther. The stand out amongst the curry dishes would have to be the pumpkin curry. Rich coconut broth, nice balance of sweet and savory...perfect for a fall evening. The other standards are excellent: pad see ew, pad ga praw, masaman curry, etc. I have had nothing bad here. The service is always quick and friendly and they are happy to accommodate special orders. If I have a gripe (and it is merely a minor one), they still don't believe me when I say I want "Thai hot." I'm sure their normal 5-star hot is plenty hot for the average Silverton resident, but I'm always adding more hot sauce to mine (make me cry guys!). This is certainly one of your best options if dining in Silverton, so help keep this business going and get some pumpkin curry already! read more

This place was awful!!! Last night I decided that instead of cooking at home I would enjoy a crisp early Fall evening with some Thai takeout and movies. Being a single working Mom this is a nice treat for us every once in a while. The guy that took my phone order was nice. It is about a 15 minute drive for me into Silverton. I got my food and headed home to start the relaxing. Well, big disappointment when I opened that box of Pad Thai, I got a huge whif of burnt. I tasted it, sure enough the dish was skorched bad. Tried to pass it off on the 2 yo. and she threw it on the floor. I called up, asked to have it re-made, went back into town to pick it up. Got the food back home. At this point its now 8pm. We scarf food and go to bed. I didn't get to watch my movie or relax. My point is that not only did they ruin my food but they ruined my evening and wasted my precious time. Either the cook can't smell or doesn't give a f*** and tried to pass off bad food on my like I wouldn't notice. I also got and order of Red Curry and Tom Kah soup. In all it was below average. It lacked in depth of flavor, richness and was skimpy on the veggies. I will never go there again. Feeling really discouraged at paying for food that sucks. I really hope that someday I can give a restaurant in this area that I can afford 5 stars! This order of noodles, soup, and curry cost $29 and I tipped $5. This used to be called City Thai. We went on a Saturday night and is was pretty empty. The calamari was really good but small portion. The fried rice was a little bland but the teriyaki salmon and the garlic salmon were amazing. The prices are not too bad and the service was adequate. read more

This restaurant is horrible. I had come here a couple of years ago before there was a change in name/management and it was good. Now, I am disappointed at what this restaurant has become. When we first sat down the waitress accidentally came to take our order before another group that had sat down before us. The manager came over and berated the waitress for all the customers to see, a show of really poor management in my opinion. It took an hour and a half to get our food once we had ordered and the food was really bad, not authentic Thai at all. It tasted like someone who had never cooked Thai before found some recipes on the Internet to serve. read more

Although the atmosphere is a little drab and I find the waiter usually a little less than enthusiastic I keep going back because the food is exceptional. The Thai omelet is awesome if you have skipped breakfast and want something "breakfasty" for lunch. The yellow curry is excellent. In fact, I haven't ordered anything I haven't liked at this restaurant. I don't like real spicy food, so I can't attest to the quality of anything super hot, but I can definitely find many things to enjoy on the menu. I think if they stepped up their customer service a bit they would be much busier than they currently appear to be. If you're looking for good food and don't care so much about your "dining experience" you should give them a try. read more

Visiting Silver Falls State Park for a couple of days. The town of Silverton has many choices of places to eat. Yelp reviews led me to Sandee Thai. I had the Drunken Noodles and was not disappointed. I was greeted with the warmth and hospitality you would expect from Thai people. Being a tourist town, the server was genuinely interested in where I was from and my plans for my stay. The food came quick, hot, and with the taste you would expect from a Thai restaurant standard. The portion was generous and delicious. I liked it so much I came back the next day for dinner. My second visit was even better than the first. The server remembered me and, I was given the same excellent service. This time, I ordered the Pad Prik Khing. Again, the dish arrived quick, hot, and delicious. Plenty of green beans and just enough meat for flavor. It is my favorite Thai dish and they do it right. This restaurant has it all...friendly service, quality food, and reasonable prices. With many choices in this tourist town, I highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed. read more
