I called Mike's and got a text from Ann within a day. She was patient and friendly and answered all my questions. She also asked me plenty of questions to narrow down exactly what I wanted and gave me options with prices, including advice since I was considering buying the fabric myself. I put it off for a few weeks and then at the last minute wanted to get it done a week before July 4th so we could host friends for a bbq. I texted her back and they (Ann and Tina) were incredibly kind and fit me into their tight schedule. They gave me a clear timeline and estimate, and were upfront about any additional costs that might come up. In my case, I wanted to reuse the foam and ended up paying a little extra to redo the dakron (buffer foam) but they gave me a heads up so I was prepared. I had one bench and four cushions redone. There was piping, zippers, and straps. And they were in pretty bad condition when I dropped them off. It was finished on time and it came out looking brand new! It looks so good. I'm so happy we went with them. The price they gave us was great and the workmanship was excellent. Tina even took time to meet me when I picked up the cushions to walk me through the work they did. I'm very pleased with the positive experience I had, especially with the hiccups I had with just finding a shop. We'll absolutely be using them again when we redo the rest of the chairs. I cannot recommend enough.

The interior had so much dust and fuzz everywhere, wish he could have at least vacuum his mess. I had to clean off his dirty hand prints from the new headliner. I took my 2017 Mercedes Cabriolet for replacing the cables and reinfoce plate for the cables. After sending him a couple videos and talking back and showing him the frayed cables and the plate he came up with a plan on how he would do it. He said could do it and when he gets a chance. This had been months so we were patient since he had the confidence in doing the repair. He said to bring the car in on Friday night (assumed he would work on it when it cooled down) whenever he gets a chance. He calls later that night asking how to lower the top my husband explains it to him. He then calls Monday and says he was not going to do it. I dont understand why it took 4 days to let us know he wouldn't be able to do it. Only reason was so he can use ir for a weekend cruise. I dont trust him. Better off taking your car somewhere else. Not worth the job he does.

In my opinion, he charges too little for his exceptional work. He does not have a large inventory of fabric samples. One armchair which I needed to upholster, he was unable to show me fabric that I liked. He told me how much fabric I needed. I went to an expensive fabric store in Pasadena and purchased the fabric. he price Porfirio quoted me was less than the cost of the fabric. He made me two pillows with the leftover fabric. I told him that there was no way I could pay him less for his expert work than the fabric, so I paid him more than he asked. Today, Porfirio came again to my home in Monrovia to repair the foot of my LazyBoy. He took it with him and said he would bring it back tomorrow!!! Again, given his talent and the distance he had/has to travel from El Sereno, makes his charge less than he deserves. I encourage you to use Porfirio for your upholstery needs. You will not be disappointed! I have recommended Porfirio to many family members and friends. They are amazed at his work!

We hired this upholstery company back in 2022 to create custom cushions for a very expensive…read morebuilt-in banquette that we had professionally constructed and painted. The owner and her staff came to install the cushions, and we paid in full at that time. Unfortunately, the installation method has caused ongoing damage and frustration. The cushions were attached by sticking Velcro directly onto the painted surface of the banquette and onto the backs of the cushions. There was no proper mounting system -- just adhesive Velcro. The Velcro was not applied straight, which caused visible rippling and uneven placement. Because of this, there is no way to remove the cushions for cleaning without ripping the Velcro off the painted surface. As a result, the paint has been repeatedly damaged when I've had to remove the cushions to wash them. Additionally, the fabric that was recommended and sold to us was not truly stain-resistant. Spot cleaning leaves visible marks, so the covers have to be fully removed and machine-washed to get stains out -- which makes the flawed Velcro installation even more problematic. For a custom project at this price point, we expected a more thoughtful installation solution and better guidance on fabric durability, especially for a frequently used family seating area. I would encourage anyone considering custom upholstery to ask detailed questions about installation methods and fabric performance before moving forward.
