Tortilla soup had good size chunks of chicken in it, savory and delicious. The dining room is good size, has some long tables as well as booths. Coke beverages at the fountain and staff very helpful. I dropped in for lunch and was greeted very rudely by the counter order taker. There was no welcome or how can I help you! I was immediately told that my order would be more than 1/2 hour, this was my first time here so I was a bit taken back. I ended up just walking out!! It wasn't because of the wait, trust me I would have waited. It was the rude demeanor of the staff, I just didn't feel welcomed nor that they wanted my business. As a paying customer, I'd rather give my money to another sandwich place that's welcoming and wants my business, trust me there are plenty. Solid sandwich spot. I got the turkey sandwich with avocado. It was so good...I ended eating the whole thing even though I was so full. My dad ordered the combo bowl of chicken teriyaki and beef. He ordered the sauce on the side but I think they forgot but it's okay. The meat was tasty and not dry. Surprisingly tasty and healthy. The only complaint not related to the food was that I got bit by a mosquito on my thumb as I was about to pay! I wish they could install some air curtains. First time here. Just a heads up, remember what size sandwich + bread you ordered it on. They don't take your name for your order and don't call out receipt #'s to easily and effectively identify your order. I ordered a regular tuna sandwich on white for take out. Guy/cashier who takes your order/answers the phone, is also the one bagging your order and calling out the size, name, and style of bread for your order. Some other gentleman ending up taking my order for my regular tuna on white. I found it odd that he took it, but, who knows, he may have ordered the same exact thing i did and he was there before me. But nope. A few minutes later, Cashier calls out a large tuna on sourdough. The same gentleman says "i think thats mine" then a back n forth went. This man probably got upset so he ended up bagging his lunch and leaving (he was eating at the table at first/during the exchange of words). I had to now wait longer for another tuna sandwich to be made, when cashier could've just offered that large on sourdough to me. But nope. He just took it to the back. Very off first impression of this place. Everything is extremely fresh and well seasoned (because you get bland, old tasting sandwiches from places too, but, this place is fresh). Only giving 3 stars for their system of calling out orders. Highly recommend you guys either take a quick name, or, identify by receipt numbers. Surprised they don't do that here / there aren't more mishaps where customers claim wrong sandwiches and whatnot. Just sharing my experience here / first impression. Simple but effective. Great small business sandwich shop. No frills or anything excessive marketing. I've only tried the Dancing Avocado sandwich as I don't eat meat. The first I tried the sandwich was huge! However, the second and third time the sandwich seems a bit smaller but with everything the prices went up slightly. Not enough for a cause for concern. The chicken club is also delicious, I do wish the chicken was charred a bit more and sliced thinner, it would make it perfect. You cannot go wrong with either option. Hidden in Norwalk is another food gem in the Sandwich Cafe. I was hungover and needed a lunch to combat this headache. My girlfriend suggested this place and was highly impressed. We both got the half sandwich/ half soup combo. I got the turkey bacon and tortilla soup and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. My girlfriend got the roast beef Swiss and clam chowder that was piping hot and creamy. Everything ordered was devoured. The place is small and welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful for my first visit. I got the Club of Extravaganza sandwich and it was huge!! Very filling I didn't need to get chips or anything with it. You can tell they use high quality ingredients the sandwich was flavorful and the bread was fresh. I got my bread toasted because I love a warm sandwich.I only took off one star because the soda machine had 2 flat sodas in it...they were just getting started with the lunch rush so when I told them at the front they were a little busy to fix it at that exact moment. Don't let the boring name fool you- the sandwiches coming out of this kitchen are way more exciting than their name implies. How exciting? Well, it's not a piñata full of winning lottery tickets exciting, but it's still pretty great. The club of extravaganza (yep, it's real name) is a pretty impressive choice. So big you have to practically unhinge your jaw to eat it. It's packed with turkey, ham, pickles,fresh produce and a long list of tasty stuff. Definitely satisfying. I particularly liked the how the bacon was both thickly applied and crumbled up to maximize the flavor. I went with squaw bread, but it's just one of several bread choices. It's also a pretty solid value for what you get. There's even a free bag of chips given for a Yelp check in! So why not 5 stars? While this is definitely a good tasting and well made sandwich, I didn't love that the Swiss cheese was a processed slice and the meats were lunch meat quality. Still good? Absolutely. But you are going to have to serve fresh sliced meat and cheeses to stand out as truly great. Definitely recommended. If I'm able to get back, I'm trying that Dancing avocado. read more
