I think the food was good and they made it fresh. Not a bad burger place. I would come here than other burger places because the food was excellent and the service was on point.

Wow, I can't believe it's taken me so long to share my thoughts about Sandwich Inn on Yelp because I've been singing their praises everywhere else! A small building serving up BIG flavors, Sandwich Inn could easily be passed by if you're not looking for it. With a grand sign proclaiming that it's the "oldest restaurant where the locals eat", it's clear that this is a blast from the past. With two drive thru lanes and a menu with breakfast and lunch favorites, the vibe and prices will surely take you back a few decades. Let me just tell you, the food is worth the lunch rush wait! If you're up early and can grab breakfast, even better! Best thing? Breakfast is available all day! My favorites include anything with their thick-cut bacon, okra and their sausage breakfast bowl. I took my friend here and she had a Milkshake and couldn't get enough! The staff here is also amazing. They seem like a tight-knit group based on how well they work together, but I assume you have no choice when you work in such close quarters! I love that the faces are always so friendly and familiar, they truly make the experience even better! My only complaint? - Too. Much. Damn. Mayo. I ask for light mayo, it falls on deaf ears. And there's mayo on most sandwiches, so be prepared to either have none or a helluva lot! LOL, STILL 5-stars!!!

Cold fries, stern eyes and a dry burger I despised. Sandwich Inn has a nifty concept. Drive In fast food place with a blast from the past vibe! What can go wrong? Well definitely not the prices! They were insanely cheap. Burgers starting at 2.79 and the most expensive being a triple triple cheeseburger 4.99 (does that mean 6 patties? Don't worry I was confused by this too). I had 4 cars in front of me so I had to wait on the street to turn into the drive in. This being a fast food place, I expected a quick wait. But was I wrong. I waited over 15 minutes in order to get to the drive thru speaker to order. I ended up ordering a cheeseburger, fries and a strawberry shake! My cheeseburger was dry and there was nothing out of the ordinary. My fries were cold and soggy. The only savior from keeping me hungry was the shake. But it felt as though I could've have gotten this anywhere else without a long wait time. When I got to the window to pay, the cashier was very stern and she picked up a phone call, (which someone called the restaurant) understandable. But I was taken aback from the conversation. Someone called to complain that their fish sandwich was not cooked. She did give him an option of either coming here and getting a new. I'm not sure I want to eat where the locals eat.

Riddle me this: Why is the line for this tiny, little (drive-thru/walk-up only) food shack snaking down the road at 8AM? Oh, I know... it's just that good, that's why! It's simple, almost 70-80's vintage and it's taking names in Gainesville. The breakfast is hot & flavorful. That's their secret, it tastes great. The snaking line moves fairly quickly, and the service is kind. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich, while Mom had the breakfast bowl. My Mom insisted that we swing by this spot before heading to the airport. I'll admit that I was shocked by the line, but after my first bite, I totally understood.

Very quaint burger joint in East Gainesville. They have a drive thru and a parking lot where you can walk up and order from the window. The burgers are good and such a great price. There's a nice seating area with picnic tables if you do choose to dine here.

I LOVE Sandwich Inn! It's such a gem to this city. My job is pretty far but once in a while I make the trip here for lunch and it's always worth it. My favorite thing to order is the BLT with a side of fries. I'd actually never even had a blt before a friend recommended I try the one here. The bacon is perfectly thick and crispy! The sweet tea here is probably the best I've ever had. It reminds you you're definitely in the south! The building has two drive thru lanes but I prefer the walk up window because there's almost always a lil wait.

    Ham and cheese. No cheese.

of cheese between two end buns and it wasn't melted. The h and cheese didn't have cheese. So that sucked and my 3yo didn't want it. The okra wasn't as good as Bevs and ranch costed .32 extra. The triple cheese burger and chicken sandwich was good-tasted like Bevs-m l and the girl that talked through the speaker was rude as hell. All that being said, the ham and cheese without cheese was delicious. The bun was soft, the lettuce and tomato were fresh and the ham was good. I ended up eating it since my son wouldn't. The fries were fresh and good and salty. And it was not overpriced. So it was okay.

My friend and I met after we parked our bikes. She was sitting outside, and as I was locking my bike, less than a block away, she texted me. I just walked to her without responding, and with a smile and a hug, we walked in to look at the menu. The sandwiches have some very creative names that go along with their creative construction. I got a #10, which was a fusion of French dip and Philly cheese!! I wanna buy the person a beer, whoever thought of that one! Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to order. Every sandwich comes in a paper bag, so you can take it out or stay and munch. We got a combo with chips and a drink, because how else do you eat a big sandwich like this?! There are board games to play, decor that is not typical and a big display of Guy Fieri, from the Food Network, that lets you know this place is on America's culinary map. After the sandwiches were done, I brought them out to my friend Kimberly, who was saving our table. We both were hungry, so out of the wrap and in with the teeth. Mine was full of flavor and the fact that all the sandwiches are heat-pressed, made the texture very satisfying. The au jus was thick and delicious and made me think someone took great time and effort to make it. It is a casual restaurant, great for a date or a group of friends, or a solo quick lunch, that can also be a dinner as well. The food is somewhat pricey, but it delivers as a good meal with a creative touch. They could have emptied the garbage can more quickly, as it was more than overflowing, when I went to throw the garbage away. Memorable food, and makes me want to come back to try at least two other sandwiches that I read about.

We also ordered a couple of fountain drinks. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tender. The Greek salad was quite good. The chicken souvlaki, however, seemed to lack flavor and a bit dry. Portions were quite generous and the value was there. We actually packed our leftovers for some quesadillas later. If we do go back, I would order the gyro instead of the chicken souvlaki. So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection. Fix the fries, and we're not even having a conversation. Right now, it's a legendary burger with a side of "what happened here?"

This time I got a kraut dog (I didn't share). I wanted all of that warm tangy deliciousness to myself! I also tried their smash burger. Yes, yes, everyone has their signature burger...but folks...I'm going to say something here that speaks to only the burger aficionados out there...y'all know who you are. My people. The person that goes to a fancy restaurant and while everyone else is ordering the shrimp or ribs or a steak and you're ordering a burger. You know who you are and I'm one of you. This burger literally BLEW my mind. I've tried other smash burgers, but this one was actually executed PERFECTLY. What is the difference? A true "smash" burger is done just that way on the grill so that every crack, every crevice on that grill gets crispy and delicious. And the bread they use here? Soft and pillowy with just the right amount of give and chew. They literally toast the inside of EVERY bun! And not that little tiny throw onto the grill for a second or two...that nice hard grill that makes the butter hard crisp the bread so you get that crunch inside with the nice pillow outside. Shred the lettuce so it's on every bite and not falling out before you take those bites. Perfection. Added some Big Mill's sauce and wow. Just plain yellow American cheese is fine with me. I'm no cheese snob. Next time? I'm definitely enjoying a double. Just wanted to try the entire kraut dog for myself. Worth it. That grill crisped bun on the dog was soooo good. I want it on a double smashburger next time! The staff comes and checks with you and brings you your food when ready. Asks if everything was okay and if you need any sauces or utensils. That is so surprising every time to me. Well worth every single penny I've spent here. The attention to exact details and the comfort and hominess this place exudes along with the selection of awesome 60s and early 70s music (which is exactly from my era) they play is the reason we'll keep coming back over and over again. My vanilla and brown sugar latte was made well and was quite refreshing. The lemonade was a bit sweet but overall a good beverage. However, as our experience continued it became a bit of a let down. We ordered the Dutch baby with seasonal fruit, the big break, a cinnamon roll, and the afternoon hash. From time of placing the order to receiving our food was an overall total of 45 minutes. A bit of a long wait for breakfast/brunch style items. The cinnamon roll was not done well whatsoever, the roll itself was over kneaded which created a thick and heavy dough. Not the fluffy type of cinnamon roll you would expect. When our food did come out the Dutch baby was partly burnt, it did not taste as such but it was a bit flat in regard to taste. The potatoes in the hash and the big break were burnt. I wouldn't consider it crispy because they were so overcooked I could barely get my fork to go through. The taste of the hollandaise did redeem the dish a tad, however for $90 including tip it was not the dining experience I would come back to.
