This review is for the wonderful service that we received from our server Sydney. She was extremely efficient with our order and came back several times to make sure we had what we needed. We mentioned to her that we were having difficulties finding a place to take our large party for dinner that evening. She went out of her way to speak with the manager to get us reservations for one of the restaurants in the resort. We weren't expecting that level of service but really appreciated that. I have been here a few times and the food is outstanding and they have a big screen on which to watch games. While watching a Giants game, we shared nachos that were very good. We each had salads (mine had apples, candied walnuts, brie cheese, cranberries, etc. and it was small but very tasty. However, the service is SLOW and the food is expensive. We watched our waiter chatting with other employees as we waited for our bill. We were not in a big hurry so we pulled out a deck of cards and played a few hands of gin before he finally caught a clue. read more

My husband and I went to Sandy's Pub for lunch after skiing for a few hours at Squaw. He ordered the hamburger and I had their delicious salad with Feta. Sydney our waitress was wonderful. I ordered a glass of Rose wine which wasn't to my liking and she was kind enough to get me another glass of wine which I liked. She was also fun to talk to and had a great demeanor. I always love coming here during ski season. They have friendly bartenders, especially if you get the tall guy. He is hilarious. There is nothing better than an apres-ski drink, but at Sandy's it is the ultimate! This place has an excellent staff and the ambiance is inviting. read more

We went here because of a drink menu that google had for this place only to learn that they havent had those drinks in years. One bartender was kind of rude about it (even making comments such as "as if we're not working hard enough already") but bartender Taylor J went above and beyond to take care of us and make the drink as close as he could. We haven't been to Sandy's for a few years. Frankly, neither the food nor service were very good, so we stayed away. Last weekend, most Squaw Valley restaurants were closed for the offseason, so we decided to give it a try again. We were pleasantly surprised: the burgers were excellent (the best we've had in North Tahoe area) and they have a great selection of craft brews. Will definitely be back soon, especially when their beautiful outdoor seating opens for the summer. read more

We stayed at the Resort at Squaw Creek for a few nights. We were reluctant to try Sandy's Pub after some of the reviews here, but given its so close it was appealing given how having a 2 year old can limit dining options. We were impressed with the food selection and quality. What stood out the most was the service. We were seated and our server arrived in less than a minute, service throughout was excellent. Slow service. Ridiculously slow. $18 for all kids meals. Ruh-Dick. Aside from that, we ordered the fully loaded nachos for the table. The grilled chicken was spoiled. It literally tasted rotten. I asked to speak to the manager and made her smell the chicken. She said, "I think that's just our seasoning." I laughed! I then invited her to try it. She declined. She was very nice about it and offered to make another version without chicken. I did not have the heart to tell them about the hair on my leathered salmon. Food here was very tasty and the server was on top of things. If you have allergies to bees or are scared of birds, I would recommend sitting inside as the birds and the bees (no pun) own the outside patio. Prices are stupid crazy high for the food. Surprisingly good hotel fare. The Signature Burger is fantastic: you'd be hard pressed to find a better burger. The sweet potato fries are crispy and delicious. And the Sonoma salad, minus the unnecessary strawberries, is excellent. Share those three things among two people and you've got a really good, affordable hotel meal. read more

No need to travel further than your resort for excellent service and food. My husband and I had so much fun at what could have been an ordinary conference stay. We thought perhaps of going to the village for our dinner, but stayed instead at Sandy's Pub. I asked the bartender, Garrett Russell, for his most robust red wine, the kind that hugs the glass and resists gravity, and he offered a tasting of a red Zinfandel. Amazing! Then I tried my usual, generic choice of a Cabernet and to my surprise, it fell flat. Say what? The Zinfandel was amazing (American Great Zinfandel, which, ironically they no longer offer). Who knew? What's more amazing is that my husband and I just returned from wine tasting in Napa and we had a better experience at Sandy's Pub. Such fun! Of course, it didn't hurt that through the windows the gentle crisp air rustled the majestic tree leaves in a shimmy dance and the mountains gleamed with snow crested crowns. What could be better? And to top it off, Assistant Food & Beverage Manager Jennie Morris ensured our dinner was to order and made it just right (full rack of ribs and New York steak---no carbs, only veggies). We talked wine and well, our stay was anything but ordinary. Dining is about experience, not just food. So, bottom line--forget the overpriced Plump Jack's which may be delectable, but may not deliver such a personal experience. Stick with Garrett, get your favorite wine, and kick back--hang back--at the resort, and just go with it. Find your favorite wine and enjoy it among the shimmery trees and snow-capped mountains. read more

Extremely disappointing. The tomato salad was dressing-soaked mixed greens with 3 underripe cherry tomatoes. The chicken tacos were mostly oil with a bit of chipotle powder, and the fish tacos had more mayonnaise than they did fish. The cherry on top was that all of it was overpriced. Had lunch here today. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic! Were able to accommodate a group of 16 without missing a beat. Kids had a snowball fight and didn't disturb a soul. Kids meals all came with a side of fruit and a cookie! We will absolutely eat here again! read more

Great alternative to the restaurant in the village. The restaurant was not crowded and had plenty of capacity. Great beer variety, nice wine assortment, and the food comes in quickly. The tomato bisque was delicious so was the onion soup. Sandy's is a great pub after a long day of skiing. We have eaten there twice and will absolutely recommend the briscuit burger, wings, ribs and spicy Caesar salad...the burger was amazing. Aside from the food, ask for Tom the waiter, he provided excellent service and we had the good fortune of having him both nights. A huge part of being a good waiter is timing, which Tom completely exceeded our expectations. read more

Two or more times a year I come to Squaw Creek and eat at this pub at least once each trip, but I had a major problem with hostess this time, I could not catch her name but she was incredibly rude to me and my group and created a very unpleasant atmosphere by telling us we would have a table by a certain time, and then getting very angry at us and telling us that she never said that we would have a table by that time and that a girl in my group was "making it all up in her head" but after all the death stares and glares we personally got from this hostess. I am left here to tell you this. On the food side you get every bang for your buck. But the service is terrible and the hostess is slow, careless and will leave you feeling extremely uncomfortable. This has always been a great pub with a great atmosphere but this hostess really ruined our experience and we will not be returning. read more

Located inside the Resort at Squaw Valley. The pub was much more upscale than I imagined. I got a half order of nachos, steamed veggies and split a bottle of Syrah. My dining companion had the pasta with chicken. Both were delicious. The bar was great as well and had Crop Vodka. There is a pool table and shuffleboard as well as ski videos to keep you entertained. A bit pricy, but that's to be expected at a hotel restaurant. Staff was laid back and nice. Came with my son during our stay at the resort. I had the Fish and Chips, he had the children's pizza. Both were lack luster. Tasted like frozen stuff that is reheated. Could make this better at home (and have). I've had better pizza from Costco. Service was friendly. Beer selection was good. Typically overpriced for a resort. Skipped the dessert and opted for cocoa in the lobby. Only benefit to this pub is not having to drive off property. read more

Well, if the view were the main deal, this would be a five. And, if you have nothing but time and money, also a five. That said, I love the food at this this place when it is slow and hate it when it is busy. Zero middle ground. Same with the servers. Attentive when bored, oblivious when busy. I have eaten at busy places, and it doesn't have to be this way, especially for a $20 burger. Still, the fish tacos are always great, so are the brisket tater tots. Soups always flavorful, but burgers are overdone during peak hours. NEVER order the pastrami; almost no meat at all. Nachos are only worth it at the $7 happy hour price. Turkey dinner was "meh", but the server was a gem. Overall, totally hit or miss. read more
