    Credit card receipt.

I had lunch at this restaurant. The food was good, but the goat meat was hard to chew. When I paid by credit card, I noticed that the sugegested amount of tips was based on the total cost of the meal, including taxes. I'm not sure it's fair to suggest tipping on taxes ? Also they charge 3% credit card fee.

The food is beautiful, colorful, flavorful, and so delicious! The service is polite and very thorough, and the restaurant itself has a wonderful ambiance with fun music!

Sangam Restaurant Nestled in a small strip mall in…read moreTimonium, Sangam is a charming South Indian restaurant that feels like a hidden gem. The name "Sangam," which means "meeting and getting along," evokes the spirit of mutual trust inspired by a classic Indian film of the same name. This romantic notion sets the stage for a delightful culinary experience. Upon entering, you might not find opulence, but the restaurant exudes a cool, neat vibe. The ambiance is unpretentious, with two diligent South Indian girls serving food with a warm smile, creating a welcoming environment. The menu is a treasure trove of South Indian dishes, many of which may seem unfamiliar, especially for those from a Punjabi or Pakistani background. Though the choices can be overwhelming, the restaurant is particularly renowned for its Masala Dosa--a must-try for any visitor. Here are some of our favorite selections: Sukha Goshat: A flavorful dish reminiscent of bhuna meat, prepared with an array of spices, served alongside naan or paratha--perfect for a satisfying meal. Biryani: Their biryanis are noteworthy, bursting with rich flavors that stand out. Appetizers: We often start with Chicken 65 or Fish Chilli. The tangy, spicy Chicken 65 has a unique flavor that distinguishes it from typical offerings at Indian restaurants. If you ever plan to visit Sangam, I'd love to join you for this delightful culinary adventure!

My…read moreexpectations were high, because I'd heard great things about Peerce's - I've seen it on Baltimore Magazine's Best Restaurants in Baltimore list several times. But it didn't live up to those high expectations. The restaurant is stunning. Before the two brothers behind Ananda and the Ambassador Dining Room opened this Indian restaurant in the space in 2019, various restaurants and businesses had been in the space for more than 80 years. The team at Peerce's has done an amazing job renovating the space and making it truly stunning. There's dark wood paneling, mural or wallpapered walls, stained glass, fireplaces, and a gorgeous patio (although too cold on the evening we visited in January to enjoy). The service was also great - very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied. They serve North Indian/Punjabi dishes, with lots of seafood specialties. We ordered a few things to share: Fish curry (wild-caught black cod in spicy coconut curry sauce), Malai Kofta (vegetable croquettes and spiced cream sauce), Palak Paneer (organic creamed spinach and homemade paneer), Bhindi Pyaaz (okra, onions, and traditional spices), and classic naan. I thought the food was in general. The okra, palak paneer, and naan were also classic but didn't stand out as anything terribly special. The fish curry was fine as well but I found the portion size very small for the price ($37). The malai kofta is where they really lost me. I've had malai kofta lots of times (I was a vegetarian/vegan for around 10 years, and it was one of my favorite dishes to order during those years - and I still love it today as a very failed vegetarian), and this version really confused me. The menu led me to expect the traditional creamy sauce, but Peerce's version looked and tasted like tomato paste. It was overly sweet and tasted quite concentrated, underseasoned, and bland. It was a bright red and fell very flat. I wouldn't say that any of the dishes blew me away, but the malai kofta was a disappointment. We did order a couple of glasses of wine (they offer a few Indian wines which we were keen to try and enjoyed), and the service and ambiance were topnotch. Unfortunately - for me - the food was just underwhelming. Since it's a bit of a hike for those of us that live in Baltimore City, I don't expect to make the trip to eat at Peerce's again any time soon sadly.

The décor and ambience of this restaurant is so serene and welcoming. As always, they start you off with a basket of Papadum (light crispy Indian wafers) and two dipping sauces. These are really delicious and a wonderful introduction to Indian food. Our foods started with an order of split Vegetable and Chicken Momo dumplings that were marinated in Nepali spices stuffed in flour wrapped and steamed and served with a special chutney. For our friends' main course, they split a Chicken Tikka Masala, which was boneless white meat chicken cooked with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. They also ordered Naan - the traditional unleavened white bread. My husband had his favorite, the Tandoori Shrimp. It was a very generous portion of jumbo shrimp marinated in an herb mixture and delicately broiled in our tandoori clay oven served with mixed vegetables. This came out sizzling. This came with a side of spinach that was more like a creamed spinach. It was the best we have ever tasted! It was creamy with the best seasoning. I decided to try something new and ordered the Chicken Pista Korma which was White meat chicken simmered in a mild pistachio sauce. I would have like smaller pieces of chicken, but the sauce was delicate and delicious. All of our entrees came with basmati rice. The portions are so generous we all had something to take home for another meal. Our servers were very attentive and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed another great meal at Indian Ocean.

For deeper explanation: The price was decent on the takeout menu that we got a few days prior, so we decided to give it a try. But when we called before driving over, we were misled about the selection, both regarding dietary restrictions and selection in general. And when we arrived, we were told the coupons were not valid not the complimentary drink, because those were old menus. But it was same flyer one of the staff gave me a couple days before and that they had at the front of the restaurant which I grabbed to double check pricing and deals... the fine print said was 2022, which I missed because why would I question that anyway if it was from the restaurant that same day. The food was mediocre... save for the samosas. The bathrooms were not great either, and in need of repairs. And when we went to pay it turned out the price per person was much higher than their flyer stated. There were no signs and no mention of the actual price, even with me carrying the flyer from their front area in with me. The price per person was similar to the Indian lunch buffets that I go to closer to my home, but those places have a much higher selection. The selection at India Palace was very small, which for the expected price was not great, but far worse for what the cost actually was (again, the flyers they hand out are the wrong price!). From start to finish, I feel it ended up being a waste of time and money, and left a very bad impression all around.
