We finally made it to Hummingbird yesterday and it was a great choice. We had three dishes, and the roasted brussel sprout salad was unquestionably the standout favorite. The sprouts were just right and managed to avoid the overly chewy texture a brussel sprout salad can sometimes have. The whole thing was creamy yet light and the cashew flavor was fantastic. This is a new favorite salad. I'd been eying their street carrots for a while. I believe they used to have a Moroccan version I missed but the Argentinian ones they have now with chimichurri sauce were awesome - warm and comforting. The Thai style noodles had a great combo of ingredients, though the noodles were a smidge al dente for my taste and I prefer a less tart sauce. I did love the combination of tofu and peanuts. I hope to try more things on the menu, especially the KFC (cauliflower sandwich) I keep hearing about. I will probably have to repeat that brussel sprout salad every time though! The seating was surprisingly generous - both a table section and a large window counter area. You order at the counter and there is a convenient self service water area. They brought out our order quite quickly to where we were sitting and the self bussing was easy. There is also a grab and go cooler section with meals, sides, cookies and drinks. Stopped here for a quick lunch on a road trip and was blown away. I got the Tomato and Cheddar which I saw was vegan but I didn't remember until 3-4 bites in that the cheese was non-dairy (a feat of this open face sandwich as I am usually not a fan of vegan cheese). The tomato jam was delicious as well. The price is reasonable, especially for the meal and the service was great -- everyone friendly and helpful! Would definitely be a regular here if it were closer to home :) read more

Wow. Some of the best vegan (quick serve) food I have had in years. Kudos to the chefs for bringing such delicious food, dessert, and coffee to their restaurant. Wish this place was much closer to the North Shore, but it's worth a trip up for. They also have pre made meals and drinks available as well. read more

Great cafe to stop for vegetarian eats! Located in Downtown Haverhill, Hummingbird Nutritious Eats offers a good selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free foods including grab & go salads, heat & serve meals & soups, desserts, baked goods, and bottled cold brews. At the counter, they also offer prepared foods such as hot soups, salads, grilled cheeses, pressed sandwiches, frittata, and bowls (noodles, grain, legumes). There is seating by the window to consume your food and drinks. While I was in Haverhill, I stopped by Hummingbird for a hot sandwich to go. I ordered the Cuban ($12.50 plus tax), which was a hot pressed sandwich with celery root, pulled mushrooms, pickles, mustard, & melted gruyere cheese between sourdough bread. I enjoyed my hot and tasty vegetarian sandwich back in the vehicle as I was listening to a radio show. I will have to try out some of their heat & serve meals offered here, including the cauliflower mac & cheese, Essex County mushroom risotto, and green bean & zucchini Thai green curry. read more

I love that there is a restaurant right in Haverhill that has so much vegan food! My husband and I ate there on July 25 and really enjoyed what we each got. The food is flat out good. I'm not a super healthier eater, but I try. The food is healthy and good. The first time I got food there, I over ordered, because I thought I'd need more to fill me up. I was super full and apparantly real food fills you up more than the normal stuff I eat. The place has good vibes and the people are nice. You can see them cooking from the seating area which is nice is and they look to be opening an outdoor seating space as well. Def reccommend the KFC or the curry. read more

This place was delish. It's nice to find a vegan-friendly spot that doesn't shy away from vibrant flavors. The staff was super pleasant and welcoming, the seating was stylish and comfy, and the location was very convenient. We tried the KFC, the Brussels sprouts salad, the potato and leek soup, and the udon noodles - the whole family loved every bite. The only thing I wasn't head over heels for was the pistachio pot du creme - it was nice but maybe just a tad heavy on the spices for me. Still, I am sure to look for an excuse to return! read more

Chef Chris White and the Hummingbird team are fantastic! I needed a vegan option for my wedding in June and the whole team was happy to help. They were very willing to accommodate whatever final count we would give. They were also very apologetic that they couldn't deliver themselves, but offer both Grubhub and UberEats, so that was not a problem. We ended up needing 4 meals (the KFC and ratatouille) and 6 desserts (strawberry/rhubarb cheesecake). Admittedly, I didn't get the chance to try them beforehand, so I was trusting that all their positive reviews were accurate-they were! Our guests who had those meals RAVED about them! A guest with several food allergies said that the "cheese"cake especially was, and this is a direct quote, "To die for." I'm excited to give them a try myself. But if you're like me and pressed for time, but need a trustworthy vegan meal at your wedding, definitely pick Hummingbird! read more

We enjoyed a small catered event on April 6th with several vegan dishes from Hummingbird. Without exception they were delicious. It is worth noting that most of those attending the event were not vegan, but gave the food rave reviews nonetheless. A variety of amazing desserts were also included. I look forward to visiting Hummingbird when I am in this area again, and I encourage locals to give this unique eatery a try! read more
