Finally made our way to Santé and it was a very good experience. It was the service that made it exceptional. The food was good but it wasn't the wow we were hoping for. The restaurant itself is small, make a reservation if you want to go! It's a bit outdated but maybe that works for them. They make all the desserts in house and present a large tray of the options at the end, they have many dessert choices which was very nice rather than the normal two or three.

Service is superb & overall food is appetizing. Pan seared chicken with mashed potatoes was my favorite . Trout could've used a tad bit more seasoning.

True local fine dining in Matthews, NC. Beautiful restraunt with paintings all over the walls with a warm cozy vibe. Food was fresh and phenomenal. The team small yet mighty was super friendly and attentive.

This is our second time here - very good. The service at this place is outstanding - they do an excellent job of suggesting things and talking with you. Lawrence was outstanding. We had a filet and the swordfish special with risotto - all of it was cooked perfectly.

Wednesday night I went to Sante in downtown Matthews with one of my besties. It's a French inspired restaurant that is cute, quaint and just full of character ‍ I had the pan seared farms chicken with garlic mash. I also got a side of truffle mac and cheese. No joke this was the best meal I have had thus far in Charlotte. Our waiter was quirky and really made our night enjoyable. I've been going to a lot of restaurants in the city so it was nice to eat somewhere outside the city and support a small local business

This place is awesome! Great service, wonderful ambiance and exquisite food entrees. Wines were very good too! Plenty of bourbon and spirits. Desserts were so gooooood! Would recommend highly. Reservations required. I ordered the sea scallops with Israeli couscous. Delicious!

Venison with sweet potatoes and a blackberry demi glaze 10/10

LOVED. 5/5. 10/10. However you want to put it, it was just fantastic. Beautifully decorated for the Holidays, Sante provides the perfect intimate setting for a date night or special occasion. Our dating anniversary just so happens to be right around Christmas so what a perfect time to try this cozy little family owned spot in the cute downtown Matthews. You definitely need reservations because it is small inside. Everything is made from scratch using local seasonal ingredients and most of it comes from the Matthew's Farmers Market across the street! Fresh bread is delivered to your table along with dipping oil that was splendid. The features included she crab soup, French onion soup, and a venison dish which you don't see offered in restaurants very often. The venison was perfectly cooked and we were blown away by how TENDER it was! I ordered the CAB filet which was good, I just wish there was more of the gorgonzola butter on top to have more in each bite. Everything from the intimate setting, to the wait staff, to the delicious food and interesting wine, was truly fantastic! I looked at my husband and said - we have to come back here.

Flavorful, with both very savory and yet light ingredients which made it perfect for an entree. Not too dense but also filling enough for the wait until dinner. Then the salmon a la plancha. The salmon was cooked to perfection and not overdone, which is unfortunately often the case. The perfect portion along with the tomatoes and kale to keep it rich, but still somehow light. Ended the night with their signature (and recommended) le citron lemon dessert which was to die for. The waitress also brought me some madelines with an adorable little personalized message to complement my little mom's solo night out. 10 out of 10 and certainly can't wait to come again!

The fries were battered and very crispy. These are the best kind! Complimentary Puff Pastry (4/5): These had the flavor of the bread at Brazilian steakhouses but with a different texture. The pastry was crumbly and there was a chilled gruyere mousse inside. Nice way to start the meal. French Onion Soup (3/5): Thick soup with lots of flavor. A little too sweet and tangy for me. I liked how much cheese there was on top. Duck A L'Orange (3/5): The duck wasn't that great. The skin wasn't crispy and it was a little too gamey. There was also very little meat in general. The orange sauce was runnier than I expected and very subtle. Good amount of potatoes and green beans which were solid. La Ricane (4/5): Reminded me of a Snickers ice cream bar but instead of ice cream it was a fluffy nougat. Good, but hard to justify the price when the ice cream version from the store is better and much cheaper haha Complimentary Madeleine (3/5): Nice that they gave these out at the end of the meal! Soft and bready with a light lemon flavor. The food: we were served salads and focaccia to start. The side salad was nice, and I enjoyed the creamy vinaigrette and fresh vegetables. The focaccia was warm and beautifully salted. We were also given cheese platters, and I enjoyed the addition of honeycomb on the platter. I opted for the filet mignon, medium rare, with polenta and roasted carrots. The filet was served medium well, and even with the Stilton crust it was flavorless and desperately needed some salt. The thyme polenta was also missing the thyme, and even more desperately needed salt and just any sort of flavor. An unflavored polenta can taste like boiled water and I found that to be the case with theirs. The carrots tasted lovely with the Madeira Demi glace, but were unfortunately raw. I opted for the banana cheesecake for dessert, and while it wasn't my favorite, I think it was executed nicely. I also tried someone else's coffee ice cream which they pair with beignets, and thoroughly enjoyed that. All in all, a disappointing food experience. For a $62 steak, they missed the mark.

The sweet potato pancakes were really good, and the steak and eggs surprised me because the steak portion was huge and cooked really well. The avocado toast was also delicious, and even something simple like the eggs and cheese tasted amazing -- they really know how to make good scrambled eggs there. I also thought it was really cool that they had a little French market section where you can shop for French products while you're there. Most of the mimosas were really good too, and on Sundays they're only $5, which was a nice bonus. Really great flavor but I barely made it halfway through the bowl. I also ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. They're probably my favorite thing on the menu. Taste, texture, consistency, all perfect. Tried their crepes for the first time and loved it as well. As someone who drinks coffee daily, they make really good lattes. Their escargot is great and I'd highly recommend it if you're open to it, and their mussels appetizer is absolutely bursting with flavor. Personally I'd recommend asking for a few extra pieces of bread with it. It's a higher end restaurant and I feel because of its association with the hotel it tends to skew a slightly more professional/business clientele and vibe but overall I think you get a pretty decent mix of people here. On my most recent visit I was told their valet service is for restaurant customers too which is pretty awesome, so if you come down when there's a huge concert going on at the park or something you don't have to walk 20 minutes to and from your parking spot. Overall I'd highly recommend it as a default "can't go wrong" pick for a nice night out.
