The lake is a close to home getaway for a lot of people. The management team is very welcoming and helpful. The tackle shop is one of the best on site shop I've been to and I fish more than the average bear. Although there are a few things that could be better. This place is one of my favorite fishing holes. I know I'm not the only fisherman that feels that way, evidence in how early people show up to get in line. Also on a clear day you can beat the view of the city and mountains in the distance. Anyway Tight-lines everyone!

Pros: - You can camp here overnight. - If you're anywhere in LA, it's very close. If you're in OC, it's practically in your backyard. - They stock this lake pretty often. When I was there, they had stocked it with catfish. - There's a small snack shop at the entrance. Cons: - Pretty expensive rates and you're not guaranteed to catch a fish, which is kind of obvious. - Can get really crowded on holiday weekends. - It's not a big lake at all, so careful when you cast because you'll get tied up in some other angler's line. - Pretty dirty. I'm not sure how often they clean the area, but there's like trash strewn about. Yes, there are garbage cans here and there, but some are dilapidated and full. They really need to be more diligent about cleaning up here if they're going to charge premium rates. - Water looks kind of murky and suspect. I'm sure it's fine. Just don't drink it. - Porta potties. Yeah and those aren't clean at all. - Not much shade at all. Bring a tent and umbrellas. - You're not really "camping," so to speak. You won't find solitude or a haven to watch animal life. You will see ducks and other fowl here, though. But you'll quickly be reminded that you're not in some lake in a forest when the guy camped out 50 yards away is blasting Tupac at 11 in the evening. Anyway, you can still have a good time here. Just temper your expectations.

A fun little getaway from the city life. You pay entrance fee and can fish 5 fish for the day. Not guaranteed though so be prepared to sit all day and maybe not even get a bite. With that said, with some fishing knowledge and experience and persistence, this place has provided me a lot of good days with my dad over the years.

No way the stock the fish for no one to be catching . Water level extremely low. Trash everywhere, bathroom not clean. At the price being paid , there should at least have a fish to give you to take home if you don't catch or ticket is bail until you catch a fish or discount the next visit. Anything! I truly believe they do not stock as much fish as they claim . They stock the fish Thursday and Saturday they is not more fish? I want my money back or a discount on next visit .for the next visit

Caught this 9-pound catfish last week. This catfish season just keeps getting better and better!! They are stocked the lake today and I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow. Keep up the good work SARL!!

I went here last week and I love to fish. This place looks like it doesn't regularly get cleaned up. One of the Johnny on the Job outhouses had a rotting hamburger patty with maggots on it inside. It was $70ish for me and my dad to get in and we were there for 4 and a half hours and did not get a single bite. That was at the big lake, then we went to the Catfish Pond for another hour and didn't get any bites at all. I would rate this place a 1 out of 5 stars because for the price, the area should be clean, the bathrooms should be clean, and there should actually be fish in the ponds. This place is pretty whack.

Over priced for small to no catfish. Unsanitary and portapotties are not respected, most likely due to unsatisfied customers. Staff is ok.

This place is all hype...too many anglers are allowed to fish. Not enough space. Better off fishing your local park lake.

Can I bring my trailer for camping?

Yes, people bring their rvs so a trailer should be allowed.... not sure if it would incur an additional fee or not

If you catch fish do you have to pay a fee and how many can you catch Can you also catch and release?

No fee, 5 fish, no catch and release

Do I need a fishing license?

No you do not need a fishing license.

What time should one be there?

Well they close at 4pm, and then re-open at 5pm-11pm

Yes, they'll rent you fishing poles and you can purchase the current bait the trout are eating. If possible use 2lb leader line, the office staff should be able to help you. Try not to cast too far out. Good Luck

My 7 year old has been begging to go fishing, and this seemed like an easy first experience for him…read moreand his older brother. Pros: - Catching fish is a sure thing here. The fish are plentiful and hungry. - They had plenty of chairs, buckets, nets, etc. - The rented rods were pre-hooked and weighted (though some were missing hooks, so check before you grab one). Cons: - We arrived about 10 minutes after they were supposed to open but the gates were still closed and there was already a short line of people waiting. Thankfully we only had to wait another 5 minutes before they opened. - The fish are SO easy to catch that we had 4 in about 10-15 minutes (though one broke the line and got away). At $12 per pound, the cost was over $125 including our entrance, 2 rod rentals, bait, and the 3 fish we took home. That was about what we expected in terms of price - but it was a long 1 hour drive for 10-15 minutes of action. - The biggest disappointment was that the website said we could have our fish cleaned and fileted there - but once we arrived they said it wasn't available this weekend (a sign indicated it also wasn't available last weekend). I had tried calling the day prior to verify everything, but all they have is a recorded message. We have neither the tools nor knowledge to clean the fish ourselves - so now we are figuring that out. That had been one of the biggest reasons we chose this "easy" experience. All in all, I'm still glad that we went and that my son caught his first fish - but just be aware what you might be in for and plan accordingly.

Yet it is so scenic with lakes, trees, bridges, greenery, and even duckies. I saw few people fishing, some exercising, and most just strolling and enjoying the scenery. Wanted to keep this place as my little secret place, but was too beautiful not to share with Yelp.

There's like two main parking lots here, at least that's what I saw. I did see some homeless just resting on the grass area by the lake and street side. The display also showed $5 for weekends and $3 midweek. We wanted to do the Redwood trail and were directed to parking lot A. The park is big and beautifully landscaped with a pond and various picnic areas that can be rented in advance. There is enough space to set up all kinds of games. We brought a picnic lunch and sat on a bench that was perfectly situated alone amongst the desert plants. After lunch, we followed the signs for the Redwood Grove Trail which was labeled as easy and is a 1.5 miles dirt trail to the Redwood trees. When you arrive you'll see a small Redwood forest with the history of the trees displayed before you enter. A really beautiful and peaceful spot to relax for a bit. On our way back we decided to take the Creek Trail to see where it would lead us. I was hoping to see water at the end of this trail. But, we only saw a bunch of rocks at one point that may be filled with water if it rains. The end of this trail did lead us to a beautiful butterfly garden and the opposite end of the park. We made the walk back and stopped at the pond. There appeared to be other trails surrounding the park and a trail that leads to the Carbon Canyon Dam.
