Nice stop on our road trip north. Easy to find, park and experience. Not too crowded. Kind of a long walk, I wouldn't recommend for anyone who has mobility challenges or is allergic to bees (lots of bees, gotta have those pollinators).

I came here on opening day of the season for my first time and enjoyed the overall experience; we had a berry good time! Santa Barbara Blueberries is located on Restoration Oaks Ranch located in the hills of the Santa Ynez Valley. If you have visited Solvang, Santa Barbara Blueberries is about 4 miles away from the Buelton/Solvang exit on the 101. They're open 7 days a week from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Visting the business allows you to pick some high quality, pesticide free blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and more; this all depends on the months and season. Specifically for blueberries, they usually open around April and can go as late into August. The "UPick" experience allows you to pick blueberries and pay by the pound. I'm not quite sure how far you can roam/walk but they seem to have many acres of land. The blueberry bushes were all arranged in neat rows with lots of room. After parking (should be free), you visit the shack and ask for a bucket where you place your goods in. It's a bit expensive, but it's all for the experience. I paid $25 for I believe 3/4 of the bucket. So don't go too crazy or do. All in all it's still a nice and relaxing experience if you're open to this type of thing. There's some benches around, porta potties, and a shop where you pay for your goods. They have some treats you can purchase such as jams, honey, and various other things. The berries are delicious, truthfully some of the best I've had beating any market around.

Great stop off the highway near Buelleton. We visited early in September in the middle of a heat wave. The fields were warm, but bearable for 20 minutes of berry picking. Only blackberries were ready on the day we visited. The man in the shack told us how to identify ripe berries and gave us a small bucket to fill. We had a good time walking the rows of bushes and finding the plump blackberries. We vow to return when the blueberries are in season. SBB is great stop to let kids stretch their legs during the long highway drive. The place had a couple portable restrooms which my husband said were very clean. There are shaded picnic tables, and there was also other fruit for sale at the shack. Worth the visit.

Great experience picking blueberries here with the family! They have plenty of plants with many ripe berries, and we loved getting out of the house after being cooped up for so long during quarantine (yes, they're still open!) Fruit is super fresh and delicious, although it's quite pricey, even though you get the experience of picking.

Gotta love the blueberries we picked!

Right off Highway 101 and outside of Solvang is a little blueberry paradise called Santa Barbara Blueberries! It's a nice little farming area covered by a net on all sides including overhead. The blueberry bushes are arranged neatly in rows. When we arrived on a late afternoon after pulling off the highway, the farm was fairly empty save for a couple other parties. We made our way to the back with the hope of finding bushes that weren't picked yet. It seemed that the largest blueberries were the sweetest and most ripe. I had to pass on a bunch of bushes to find these sweet morsels. We were able to collect enough for a single pail. We made our way to the open farm house building and paid for our blueberries. $24 dollars! We probably could have found cheaper blueberries at a supermarket but nothing beats the experience of picking your own blueberries and selecting only the very best!

Well we stopped in. I was prepared to pick blueberries and raspberries. Unfortunately, June is blueberry month and late August is raspberry month. So we picked luscious blackberries. Blackberries are not my favorite due to the seeds. However, these were large and black. Perfect for blackberry pie or a cobbler. There were nine rows ripe with berries. Nice and firm. To be honest, for every one the went into the bucket I ate the other. All fruit is pesticide free! The fruit is much better than stores as you save days in picking, handling, packing house, cooking sheds and trucking. We will return for blueberry season!

Blueberries! Now try saying it with the English accent this time.. BLUEBERRIES! Sounds much better, ya? Located just off the 101 freeway, it makes for a nice pit stop if you're on the road too long. Berries don't grow out of trees which means there won't be any coverage from the sun. That said, be sure to put on sunscreen, wear a hat, and prepare to get dusty shoes from all the dirt you'll be walking on. It's a lot of fun this time of the year when the blueberries are in season because there's an abundance of them. The blue ones are what you need to keep an eye on as those are ripe and sweet. It was a joy to see the kids berry-picking without knowing I was also having fun myself filling in the bucket or popping some in my mouth. At first I thought their bucket was tiny but mind you, it takes a lot of blueberries to fill one up. For about an hour, we only filled it halfway but I think a quarter of them went straight to our bellies. Oops! The entire experience plus a bag of super sweet organic blueberries only cost me $8. How's that for a cheap family-friendly activity? P.S. They have porta potties as well as a sink with running water and soap to wash your hands after.

We had a great time picking blueberries in the cute little steel buckets, and, of course, we bought them to bring the berries home in Made a perfect gift for my husband and the berries are soooooooo delicious

Fun stop off the 101 between Santa Barbara and Solvang. No admission fee. It is $18 for a full bucket or 2.5 lbs (40 oz) of blueberries. They also have boxed ones if you don't want to pick it yourself. It is pretty hot and there is no shade so bring water and a hat. You can pick one full bucket within an hour.

Ask the Community - Santa Barbara Blueberries

When is the season to pick blueberries? Raspberries ? Blackberries? I am looking online but do not know if they will even be open today.

They open mid-May with blueberries and blackberries for picking. Raspberries will be available late summer.

I tried both, and then also sampled some savory options as that's what I was looking for. My favorite local oil was the savory garlic olive oil and for the imported option, the truffle oil was amazing. I did not like the sundried tomato olive oil and was surprised to read that canola oil and sunflower oil were ingredients. While tasting, my boyfriend and I noticed they offered ice cream topped with oils and vinegar. Intrigued, we ordered the chocolate ice cream with blood orange oil and chocolate balsamic. We hadn't really liked the blood orange oil with bread, but wow was it an amazing combo with ice cream! Overall, a great spot in Los Olivos that does not involve wine drinking and we appreciate that it was dog friendly.
