I've had a good experience with everyone here, but definitely need to give a special shoutout to Jess for my eyebrow threading this morning. Eyebrows were getting a bit messy we were planning a harvest, but Jess cleaned them right up and they look so good now! I'm really happy she took into consideration everything I asked for and she delivered. I've been to other places before and yeah price seems a little high compared to elsewhere but you definitely get your moneys worth I mean this literally affects your face you show to everyone not exactly a good idea to cheap out. This place is great! We plan to keep coming back and we bought the packs which does help offset cost. I forgot to take before after photos but here's a picture from yesterday feel like that song by Train "they call me sir", and now my eyebrows look perfect (imo). Also a little special note I know when I look for places I want LGBTQ+ friendly so I gotta say something to help my friends out :). I'm trans/genderfluid and my wife and I always come here; we're also probably a little on the spectrum sometimes it's hard for us (or at least for me) to communicate and connect with people. I feel respected and treated human, and all of it comes off as very authentic (I mean to say that it is authentic) they never get it wrong and I feel like another human here just trying to maintain myself. They always give me their fullest effort whatever I'm going for this place is the real deal. If you want a glow up... if they can do it for me... I'm confident they got you. All the accessories are really cool a lot of fun hair clips we keep saying we need to stop buying things they always have something cool and we have to buy it. If you want clear communication about your appts, then this place is not it. I made an appt over the phone for full face thread and 45 mins before the appt, Molly sent me a vague text about how she wasn't qualified to do it. No indication of whether the appt was completely cancelled or if someone else will be doing it at my scheduled time or if the time will be changing. There were no replies to my texts back and no one bothered to answer my calls. She finally called me back 15 mins before my appt but I had already driven down from Bonny Doon because I had no idea if the appt time changed or not. She said someone else might be able to do it 3 hours later. Had she just called me instead of texting, I wouldn't have bother driving down. She wasted my time and my gas. I would like to start by saying as a male going to a very female visited business I was a little hesitant. However when I arrived the staff was welcoming and pleasant. I had booked an appointment with Rachel for a Back Treatment due to some complex skin issues I was dealing with. I arrived early and was greeted by Rachel, who knew who I was and what I was there for, I was offered something to drink and showed me to the room where the service was going to be done. She was very professional, knowledgeable and skilled in her craft. Carrying conversation with me as if I was a friend. Sometimes it's the little things and attention to details that make the experience. Rachel made sure the bed was warm and asked about my music preference while the service was being preformed. This made me feel much more comfortable as I was still feeling unsure about the whole thing. She was able to give me suggestions on how to prevent and maintain clearer skin. Because I arrived early to my appointment Rachel asked if there was anything else she could do for me and was able to add a service in with the remaining time. When it came time to pay for the services Rachel was not pushy with products or booking more services. She made some recommendations and suggestions and I really appreciated that since I hate when products and services are pushed onto clients. Overall my experience was great at Santa Cruz Thread and I can confidently say it was because of Rachel's professionalism, positive attitude and the way she treated me. I had a bad experience at this salon. I booked a lash lift appointment for 10:45 AM and called ahead at 10:30 AM to let the lash tech know my Uber would get me there around 10:53 AM due to a last-minute car issues. I politely asked if it could still work, and she said it wouldn't be enough time. I told her I'd try to get there faster--and I did. I paid $15 for a rushed Uber, but she still refused to do the service. No service was performed, yet I was still charged $47 as a "late fee." I had also come in the day before for eyebrow services and even tipped, despite already feeling the vibe was cold compared to other salons. What bothered me most is how rigid and inflexible they were, even after I communicated clearly and made every effort to show up. From reading other reviews, it's clear that instead of showing empathy or working with clients on a case-by-case basis, they double down on their policies--even when the situation is completely reasonable. Charging nearly half the cost of a full service for doing nothing just feels like a money grab. I can't imagine the ordeal I'd be in if I made a $400-worth appointment and had to pay $200 more for coming in 8 minutes late because of a valid excuse like my car breaking down. Life happens and we aren't always privileged enough to have everything go perfect. I'm a college student at ucsc who would have to rely on the unreliable bus or wait for an uber to come up to campus if my car broke down. I won't be returning. If a business can't treat its customers with compassion. It's not worth supporting. Definitely learned to not trust businesses that only care about money. Do with this information what you will. I walked into my appointment just a few minutes late- five by my count, though Rachel insisted it was eight and immediately, she told me she wouldn't be able to do my brows. Instead of offering any flexibility or understanding, she charged me 90% of the service fee and reassigned me to someone else, for whom I had to pay again. She was cold and completely unbothered, showing no sympathy or professionalism. There was no effort to work with me or acknowledge how unreasonable the situation was.. just a rigid, dismissive attitude that made it clear she had no concern for the inconvenience she caused. This is not to shame anyone else at the salon. There are good people that work there too. read more

I went In to SCT today for the first time for a full leg wax. I saw Rachel, whom was SO sweet and efficient. We got to chatting about the different wax options (I was inquiring sugaring vs wax) and she educated me on the basics and even offered to show me a little sample on a spot on my leg of the sugar wax process. For anyone wondering, the sugaring definitely has a more "gentle" touch/feeling in regards to pulling the hair out however, for me personally, waxing doesn't hurt at all so I don't really have an accurate way of determining pain level. The place was clean and everyone I did communicate with was really pleasant. It's definitely a splurge for me because of the cost but I'm hoping to be able to become a semi-regular because it's so nice to have smooth legs without shaving and razor burn Thank you, Rachel! read more

I've had some very pleasant experiences here with waxing and brow tinting. That said, I was very disappointed by lack of common courtesy with their customer service. I was running 8 min late due to traffic and called at the time of appointment (15 min before closing). I was told there wouldn't be time To do my brow tint (totally fair) before closing, but I would be charged a 90% of my service late fee. I understand the policy, but for a service that was scheduled 15 min before closing this is absurd. I'll be finishing the package I got with Rachel (amazing service!!!) and then taking all future business elsewhere. read more
