I have loved Santa Fe cafe for a long time now but it's been awhile and I'm still happy every time I go! A nice cafe in a not so traveled part in Calabasas welcomes you inside into a cafe that serves Mexican favorites on one part and coffee/beverages in the other section. The atmosphere here is casual with friendly hosts that I have seen. I got the soy chorizo burrito and it was delicious! Very filling and flavorful and I love the side of salsa on the side too that comes in mild, medium, and hot variety. There is also a small side of chips. The main issue here is the price. I would say it's more than chipotle and chips may be more value for your money, but this place still has a good variety and I wouldn't skip it if you are in the area! read more

Came here on my way to the beach for a quick lunch. The parmesan crusted taco shells can't be beat. The chicken is so flavorful and delicious. Not sure what has happened to the quality. I have ordered their Chicken Enchiladas over a dozen times. The last 2 times I noticed the chicken tasted funny. It felt slightly undercooked even. When I ordered it again yesterday (02/11/2025), the chicken was horrible. I only finished half of the Enchiladas and threw the rest away. My stomach felt off right away. About 3 hours later, I started vomiting and kept vomiting throughout the night and this morning. I don't think this was just a bad luck situation. I understand restaurants may have properly uncooked meats or food that is not prepared correctly once in awhile. But on this, I noticed the quality of this dish decline over the past 3 orders. Be careful please. I am not going to eat here again as a result. read more

I am happy to report that the steak tacos are the same quality. Prices have gone up, inflation, can't hold that against them... it's almost $6 for one taco. What I am really upset with is the very high possibility that the new owners are going to renovate this gem to a point where all the charm and uniqueness are just completely gone and it'll turn into something completely unrecognizable with zero character, heart and soul. Who knows when this renovation will take place, but I have a feeling it's going to happen. Not a matter of if but when, sadly. The original owner passed away last September, rip. The chef is still there, nineteen years strong at SFC. But oh well nothing lasts forever. Hopefully they will realize that part of the fun of dining here is the charming vintage 90's Santa Fe vibe. Renovating is only going to hike up the prices even more because someone has to pay for it. It is a hole in the wall, but that's what gives this place such texture and warmth. Disappointed My husband has been going to The Santa Ge Cafe, since it originally opened, and I have for at least 20 years. We don't live close, but have made it an outing just to go there. Boy things have changed, and not for the better. Don't get me wrong, the staff was very nice, and the food was ok, however the salsa... "would you like some salsa with your cumin"! That's all you taste with each of the salsas. The tacos were different also, the tortillas were over crispy with hardly any Parmesan and the chicken wasn't shredded, but cubed. Delicious! Santa Fe Cafe is a hole in the wall- been there forever - neighborhood place. It's old school and nothing flashy. Just good consistent food. The businesses all face the street and the parking is in the back for this strip mall. They have taco and burrito platters that are priced really well and great packaging that is wonderful for big groups or business meetings. I love their wet burritos and their tacos with the Parmesan on the outside that you'll see in a lot of Reviews. I find it very unique to Santa Fe café. I was on my way to work and decided I needed a breakfast burrito. Found Santa Fe Cafe and my taste buds couldn't be happier! I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage. As I waited for my order I went to Cafe Ole which is in the front of the cafe. The service in both places was outstanding and everyone there was very friendly. I purchased a caramel Latte with extra caramel so good. The burrito was amazing. The sausage was sliced patties so there was more in every bite, It came with homemade chips and I tried both homemade salsas mild and hot both were delicious. I took turns pouring a little of each as I took a tasty bite. This place is warm and inviting and I will be stopping here often on my way to work. read more

I lucked into finding Santa Fe Cafe. I was waiting for some work to be done on my car, so I stopped by for a snack I was greeted by a very friendly gal. I had already had lunch, but I was a beef sopa on the chalk board, so I ordered one. I noticed the picture of the fire behind the restaurant (dated 2005). I lived in Simi Valley at the time and I remember the fire moving from east to west, then toward Thousand Oaks and to Calabasas. She told me that she grew up in the area and remembered the fire. I sat down and started reading my mail. After a few minutes, she brought my sopa by. She gave me two cups of some very good hot sauce, which I used on my sopa. Great flavor! I love good Mexican Food and this is a very good sopa! I did notice other people coming in to order food. The gal was very nice and friendly with everyone who came in. And here's a kicker, she also cleaned up tables and did a great job wiping things down. I know that my table was nice and clean when I first sat down! This was a very pleasant surprise, because as I've found, post-pandemic service is lousy at times and tables are sticky and not clean far too often. I finished my meal and soon my car was ready. I enjoyed eating here and I look forward to returning. I highly recommend eating here. It reminds me of how small mom and pop places were prior to the pandemic! Five stars! read more
