    flavorless and stale tacos
    Vida G.

Ordered their tacos and it was absolutely horrible. The fries and drinks were ok, but their tacos were the worst I ever had. Flavorless and stale. I should have sent it back. Very crowded place, so staff is understandably overwhelmed, but geez, what happened to flavorful, fresh food?

Been here back to back days Saturday night and Sunday afternoon and the service was great both times. The crowd is older but not the grumpy old kind. The live music is fantastic and very talented. I forget the band name but they can jam. Food is good and parking is easy. Would recommend.

We had a beautiful wedding Saturday nite the staff was amazing Cheryl the manager made sure it all went smoothly and was so sweet and really made the event so special. The food was great I highly recommend this venue. Thank you Cheryl you went above our expectations and made my friends dream wedding so great! Cher Rue

Attended a fundraiser event here. We were set up in a tent, right off the parking lot, full bar, well lit and round tables of 10. Had an old rustic southern vibe. Food stations were set up to choose your food items while servers took your drink order, starters and dessert. Pasta Primavera, fettuccine Alfredo, mashed potatoes and gravy, Grilled chicken, roast beef by the slice and rolls were on the menu. All of the items were pretty good. The old fashioned and both Mexican and Moscow Mules were popular cocktails of the night. Had a good time, raised a lot of money at a cool place

So far I've been here for brunch, lunch and dinner. My favorite has to be Sunday brunch! Live mariachi band, omelette bar and bottomless mimosas. It's always good vibes here. The food overall is mediocre. Don't expect to eat fine quality here but it does the job if you just want to have regular Mexican food, good portion sizes and good vibes. It is a little overpriced for what you're eating so I wouldn't come here when I want to eat food quality Mexican food. However they do have a a good variety so I'll give them that. Parking is valet parking only and might be tough to find street parking. There's plenty of spots to sit at including the two large outside patio spaces, inside and the bar inside. Overall food, chill spot to have a good time. But again wouldn't make this my top choice for food.

Their Sunday brunch is always a must! Tons of food variety and not to mention the quick service - out mimosas were consistently topped off and our dirty plates were removed from the table before we could even return with the next. The mix of mariachi, cover bands, and Djs make for a great time filled with community and lots of dancing! Also, special shoutout to Hawk in Security for always making sure the environment stays a safe and lighthearted space. He always makes us feel so welcomed and is one of the many reasons Sagebrush is a favorite spot! Would love to see this place get a photobooth. Think it would fit the vibe nice and make for a cool souvenir :)

Amazing patio area, perfect for So Cal days and nights
    Randy B.

I have lived in So. Cal. for the majority of my life, knew of Sagebrush Cantina of course, but never had been here. Decided to try it out for a business lunch for an out of town client for something different. They have a beautiful outside area and patio dining, so of course we had to sit outside and enjoy the So Cal weather. Our server greeted us right away and was very nice, a big group came in right after us, but she was still very attentive. As soon as we sat down, we had chips and salsa on the table, which is always a plus. The chips were decent and the salsa had good flavor, but very middle of the road as far as spice level and taste. I did order their Habanero salsa, which costs a couple extra bucks, but worth it, spice level is there, has a kick and great flavor, so well worth it for me, I prefer spice. She kept our drinks full, which is huge for me. We ordered and our food came out quick, another positive. I decided to go with the asada tacos, comes with 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans. Would have expected three tacos for the price tag being almost $20. I did enjoy the asada inside the tacos, but the corn tortillas were just OK. Having hand made would make them amazing. Rice and beans were also a 2.5/5. It is disappointing that their menu is mainly Mexican food and we are in So Cal where there is some of the greatest Mexican food around and their food falls short in that regard. A few tweaks and some Abuela love would really elevate this spot. Sagebrush Cantina is located in the old town district of Calabasas,m. Inside and the grounds are historic and amazing. Feels like an old West town and you are really walking in the footsteps of the history of So Cal. They have been around since 1974 and have hosted many concerts and events over the years as well as stars. On the day I visited Emelio Estevez was there eating lunch, pretty cool. For the historic significance of this place, decor, concerts, grounds, etc. 5/5. Food on the other hand a disappointing 2.5/5. Averaged out to 4 stars, being generous due to the history here and deserves respect for that. Enjoy!

Got the carne asada special it was actually really good and steak was juicy and tender. Buffalo wings were a little dry. Vibes of this restaurant are really fun and karaoke night was super cool. It's live music and parking is $7 on event days

I had a great experience here. I had their quesadilla and my son had their chicken tacos plate. Both were fresh and excellent! We were there at lunchtime and the place was not too busy so we got some really great service and our server was friendly and helpful. Very comfortable and casual mood. I like to tip accordingly when I get great service like we had today. She was very nice and so accommodating. We also topped off our lunch with a classic margarita for each of us! Yum! Yum! Yummy! I recommend trying this!

Came in for a small bite and a cocktail after a day at the beach and really enjoy this place. I haven't been here in many many years and it looks like they've really expanded it. Huge outdoor seating areas and a very large indoor seating and bar areas. Lovely misters everywhere to keep you cool during the hot days. Drinks were made well and came out quickly. We shared the El Matador and the Thai spiced dressing on the chicken skewers was lovely. Very flavorful with medium heat. Luciano was a wonderful server. Very friendly with a great personality and attentive. Very large parking lot. Great music as well. Will be back if I'm in the area!

Most people contribute to a pot luck feast that spans the wide world of food, from hot dogs and chili to baked ziti, tacos, meatballs, fried chicken, Chinese food, and on and on -- including some amazing homemade clam chowder from Mike The Mailman. Bartender Natalie did an amazing job of handling the busy crowd with speed and smiles. There were a couple of other staffers on site to watch the game, and they jumped in when she needed a hand with this or that, but for the most part Natalie captained the bar single-handedly for the duration. Kudos to her. It's true, Super Bowl only comes once a year, so other game days don't have the pot luck feast -- Sugar Mill doesn't have a kitchen, though they're happy to have you bring in whatever food you like and eat it there. Food aside, the crowd and the service are always just what you want, making it the perfect place to relax into at game time as Basketball enters the home stretch and baseball steps up to bat.

This visit was especially fun because I discovered they host Monday night bingo! By the third game, we were completely invested... and then, lo and behold, I won! What?! That was such a fun surprise and definitely made the night even more memorable. The venue has plenty of room to spread out, the setup was very professional, and the host kept everyone entertained with dad jokes between every number. We spent nearly $400 between reserved tickets, dinner, and drinks because we wanted the full experience. Reserved seating requires dining at the venue, so we expected a comfortable atmosphere and professional service. Instead, the air conditioning wasn't working. The venue never informed guests before seating us or acknowledged it during the evening. We sat through dinner in unbearable heat until we simply couldn't take it anymore. We ended up abandoning the reserved table we paid for and moved into the general admission area just to escape the heat and enjoy the show. While we were dancing, we placed our drinks on an empty chair because there wasn't anywhere else to set them. They accidentally tipped over and spilled. Rather than simply cleaning up the spill, the staff who responded were confrontational and got in my fiancé's face. It was completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional over what was obviously an accident. My fiancé went to speak with the manager, and we weren't the only ones. Several other guests were also expressing concerns about both the unbearable conditions and the way staff were treating customers. Unfortunately, the manager couldn't have seemed less interested. There was no apology, no empathy, and no attempt to make anything right. Despite expecting customers to spend significant money on dinner and drinks, they offered absolutely nothing in response to the broken air conditioning, not even complimentary water or a gesture of goodwill. Mechanical issues happen. What separates a good venue from a bad one is how they respond. Unfortunately, The Canyon failed on every level: communication, customer service, and management. I rarely leave one-star reviews, but this experience earned it. We won't be returning, and after reading other reviews when we got home, I wish we had looked into the venue before buying tickets. Hopefully this review helps others avoid making the same mistake we did by choosing this venue. There are plenty of great places to see live music where customers are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve.

The place was also relatively clean, which is always appreciated. Service was probably the weakest part of the experience. Our server rarely came around, and nobody stopped by our lane when we first got started, so getting food and drinks took more effort than it should have. Pricing felt fair overall. The host really pulls you in and makes sure you're enjoying yourself. con: Open bar..... not quite, there's a sign that says $4.00 donation per drink. Which is fine, but don't call it an OPEN BAR. Because if you don't have your $4 the bartender will point to the sign and let you know what the sign says, then give you a weird look like where's my money. In my case, I put whatever cash I had in my pocket in the tip jar ($3)... the bartender took the money out the jar opened it up to count it (in front of everyone), then proceeded to point to the sign that says $4. he says "you see that sign" ........ ok ....ok... my bad ....i'll remember drinks are $4. I'm just saying ..... don't call it open bar. All in all GREAT SHOW, I highly recommend it..... drinks are $4

Upon entering I was very impressed with the ample cocktail style seating and large stage the venue offered. It actually had a supper club feel, once the host and the live band took to the stage. I signed up for the open mic, and and had a wonderful experience reciting my poem. I have been a repeat guest ever since. The artist that performed were very talented. The show was interactive and entertaining, as the host has the audience participate in games and activities throughout the night. My favorite is where the DJ and the band battle each other. In this game, the audience picks a song and the DJ has to play the song on the turn tables, and then the band has to play the same song with their instruments or vice versa. The audience then votes for either the DJ or the band. Can I just say "AMAAAZING!!!" The open wine and vodka bar was a great BONUS. There is a suggested tip of $4.00 for premium liquor, such as tequila. Where else can you get a Margarita for under $5.00? My suggestion is to bring cash or drink wine or vodka, if you don't want to give the bartender a decent tip for a free drink. I definitely recommend The Red Light Lounge to anyone looking for a GREAT evening . I'll be celebrating my birthday there in November with friends and family. Don't take my word for it...come out and see for yourself. Hope to see you there!

I finally had a chance to visit for a Tarzana Music Night last week. What a fun event! Because the weather was being forecasted to be cool with the potential of rain, the event was held indoors. Things were comfortable, but we were in close quarters with the other attendees. The sound was great and the performances were a lot of fun. I was primarily there to see a good friend perform, but I also had the chance to see some other talented musicians. I think each one was a singer songwriter, and I enjoyed each performance. Each one of the people that was working at the venue, which I imagine may have been on a volunteer basis, was friendly and a lot of fun. Normally the music nights are held outdoors, and I can imagine that most of the year, it is a lot of fun being in the open air.

What a cool place I never knew was here! Check out their events on their website! If you write them…read morethey will write you back too. They have a small outdoor stage with string lights hanging beautifully all around, a few picnic tables and fold out chairs for when there's an event to watch. When the chairs aren't there I imagine thats what they use for the outdoor dance floor under the stars, too! A few people brought their dogs on leash. I saw a few people brought in their own food, chilled out and ate while they watched the live band. They do have a very small amount of drinks, chips, and cookies for sale at a stand but thats it so if you don't want junk food def bring what you do want. They do have an indoor bathroom. PARKING - Def uber/LYFT to them. There are only a few spots in the back you can get to from the side street (not from Ventura blvd) and thats it! So do yourself a favor and get a ride. Lyft must know about this place because the driver knew exactly where to meet us in the back when we booked our return. For us it was a calm but fun summer evening hang outside! I don't know what its like without a band playing but hope I get a chance to check that out too.

Harvelle's is the latter. Tucked close to the beach in Santa Monica, this tiny little place might not look like much at first. The setup is a tightly woven arrangement of vintage chairs and tables, with a long row of couches hugging the wall. But once you're inside, you realize they have their reasons for their layout. If you're lucky enough to grab a front-row seat or one of the coveted bar stools, you'll start to notice the details: metal pipes, and rods that spark the imagination. You're in for a treat! What I really appreciate about Harvelle's is that they don't charge you an arm and a leg for tickets. The artists are humble, talented, and consistently engaging. I've been to burlesque shows where the performers feel like they're just there, going through the motions. But not at Harvelle's. Every time I've gone, the women bring something artful, classy, and unapologetically bold to the stage. It's burlesque, yes, but not cheap in style or spirit. Anytime a friend's visiting from out of town, this is the spot I take them to. It's a must-see in Santa Monica. And honestly, what other place is giving you burlesque seven nights a week?

Came in last night to celebrate a friend's birthday (they have happy hour all day Mon-Wed) and was pleasantly surprised. My friends started off ordering the HH guava margaritas, which they enjoyed. I ordered the coconut margarita (not on HH) a must !!!! Not overwhelmingly sweet and tasty! We ordered and rated the following dishes: Guacamole: 9/10 HH tinga Nachos: 7.5/10 (flavor was there but most chips were burnt) HH Taquitos papas: 9/10 great flavor and sauce HH steak tacos: 7.5/10 the corn and portion of meat to the taco was very good. The steak a little well done for my liking. Enchiladas verde: 9/10 great portion honestly enough for two to share. Rice and beans were okay. Beans a bit salty and rice was a bit bland. Would definitely come back for the apps and drinks! They also have brunch which looks like fun.

When we got there, there was a DJ playing 80s/90s throwbacks. It was good music and vibes, but it was quite loud, we could barely hear ourselves speak. Luckily he wasn't there too long, as brunch-time was over. We ordered Mango margaritas, chips & salsa, birria tacos, tinga taquitos, elote, and chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Every single thing was delicious. I was highly impressed. This place will definitely be in the rotation. If I didn't live so far away, I would go for happy hour.
