Been hearing about this place forever. And yes, it's at a Sinclair gas station in Calabasas. The breakfast burrito is big and legit and they use organic eggs. At least that's what the board says. Nice! Will have to go back and try some other things but this was a very good start. I'm still full! I will tell you this... don't buy gas here. It's for the people coming down off the mount that don't care about prices. There was a brief moment around Covid when the had normal prices. This place used to be good about 5 years ago. It took a toll. The owner is rude and her customer service is horrible. I had ordered some sandwiches and I advised the bread was old and she pretty much shined me off and said next! I refuse to spend money where food and customer service isn't a priority. Anybody who gives us more than one star, is a liar. By far the worst place I have eaten in a long and I mean in a long time. I even went with what they suggested, should've been a slam dunk. Usually when someone says everything is good and they got a menu bigger than the cheesecake factory, it's a sign it's bad. Anyways save your money, lick the public toilet instead. I am so happy to have found this gem of a place. My only complaint is that they aren't open on Sundays. I happened upon El Charro by chance. I'd just moved to the area and the sign intrigued me. A Mexican restaurant inside a gas station? I thought I'd just run in, get something quick, and never think about it. I didn't realize I'd end up incorporating this place into my commute to work almost daily. My favorite is the philly cheese steak. You have the option of adding guacamole or sour cream, which I highly recommend. Plus lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and jalapeños... delicious. They also serve their fries with the option of a chipotle sauce mixed with ketchup and cheese on top. Oh. my. god. I'm actually on my way to this place right now. I opened yelp to double check what time they opened and thought what the heck??? I don't feel like this place is being accurately described, let me write something real quick. Additionally, the employees are super sweet and make the short time you wait for your food very pleasant. And the gas station it is attached to is more of a corner store of sorts. Food was a lot of food. I got the wet burrito with steak. It has some interesting flavors it's not bad but I'm also not very picky. I probably wouldn't order the wet burrito again. The people were nice and it was clean. I got my order to go. The box isn't floppy so you don't have to worry about that. There was a $1 included gratuity fee haha, I don't mind it but I have read other people had this too so just be prepared lol oh and the spicy is very spicy and I eat spicy food weekly if not daily. Pregnant and craving burritos, my last two times at this staple have been so disappointing. I have been coming here for years and the food is top notch. The last two times however, it's totally missed the mark. The first time, I thought it was a blip. Only a tiny amount of meat snd way too much chipotle sauce. I was essentially eating wet rice in a tortilla. Thought I would try again today, same thing. There's probably a tablespoon of carne in my burrito, no cheese, (they were also out of guacamole), and it's soggy. Once again way too much chipotle and not nearly tonight protein. If I wanted rice and beans only, I'd head to Taco Bell. Hope their quality and quantity go back to their norm soon, three strikes and I won't be back. read more

Rude employees. Calabasas residents can taste better quality at another establishment on the western end of town. Employees get annoyed during the peak period. The way the gas station was built could have been better built to accommodate a food establishment. My younger brother asked for a wrap with fries. The employee stated that "We only serve Mexican food here, you can get a sandwich next door." My brother and I could clearly see a picture of a wrap with fries that was next to the main menu of El Charro. My brother instead opted to have a quesadilla. Now I ordered a veggie burrito. The price on the menu is $6.99. I asked for guacamole inside. Mind you I did not order any meat. Just onions, bell peppers, beans, rice, and red salsa. The employee wraps it. Being sneaky he writes $8.99. I go to the cashier and he charges me $8.99. I was appalled as to why I was being charged this much. I told them a veggie burrito costs $6.99. It's written on your menu. The cashier acted dumbfounded and was covering up for the silliness of his co-worker. Luckily the female owner or relative who was working the submarine section of the gas station stepped in. She tried to argue that since I ordered guacamole/avocado its extra. Well, I don't see it on the menu. And if that is the case your employee should have notified me. The owner was obliged to tell the cashier to charge me $6.99. Be careful of El Charro. You will get overcharged without knowing or speaking up. read more

This was the WORST food we've ever gotten. Not only was it cold but the whole order was wrong. It was inedible. The asada tacos were all gristle.
