Dr. Downs and the assistants here are just the best. We have been put through the ringer trying to find an honest, experienced vet for our cat. If it wasn't for my mom who had a million pets that she took here over the years, we would still be looking for the right Vet. I feel so confident after our first visit that Dr. Downs could help us with our millennial cat who allegedly was allergic to everything under the sun including us, not kidding. We actually had a vet tell us we needed to exfoliate and shower more to avoid human dander. We have paid for so much blood work, had allergies shots made custom to him, have him on a raw diet (gluten free, only beef and lamb etc.) and he was constantly still having issues. We felt so defeated prior to coming here and had just settled with the fact we have a very expensive cat who will always be uncomfortable, which just broke our hearts. Dr. Downs took so much time to understand our 3 year old cats long health history and pulled previous records from other offices. His honestly, his experience with pet allergies and his process of elimination instilled so much trust in us. While we know Gustavos issues won't be solved overnight, we know we are in the best hands now. Thank you guys so much from the bottom of our hearts for such a great experience and all the love and care today today. Gustavo is a happy boy and we are very happy pet owners!

Seeing patients on time during Covid 19 is close to impossible, however, Dr Downes and his team were able to accomplish that today. I am very impressed. Dr Downes was very informative about the ongoing and never resolved issues with my doggy. He did not rush the conversation and made sure I was aware of all possible options to treat the issue. He did not try to upswell expensive test and treatments, instead, he provided me with MANY options and explained exactly what each option would achieve. The entire experience was a breath of fresh air. It made me feel like I can trust Dr Downes and his team with carrying for all of pets.

Our boys are very anxious but did so well here!

Great staff! Very knowledgeable, fair prices, and you can tell they love animals. We brought our kitties in for a checkup and everything went smoothly.

Lola!

Simply the best. Dr Downes is the vet I trust. Such a kind, caring and knowledgeable vet. I am the anxious dog owner that asks hundred of questions, and Dr Dowes always helps and puts my mind at rest. Tamra in the front desk is always very polite, helpful and friendly. Thank you for being such great vets, we recommend these people 1000000%. Thank you!

She's one of the very few…read morepeople they actually let handle them, and it's clear she treats them with such gentle, thoughtful care. She also takes the time to explain everything in a way that's easy for us to understand, which we really appreciate. One thing to keep in mind is that the clinic does get quite busy at times, so occasional follow-ups or callbacks have at times taken a bit longer than expected. We also really wish they had weekend hours or a bit more flexibility in their scheduling, especially since one of our cats has a chronic condition. It would make things easier to manage if we could stick with this team for all their care rather than bouncing between multiple clinics and trying to keep track of records. But the fact that our only frustrations come from wanting more access to their care really says a lot about how much we value and prefer this clinic! That said, we genuinely trust Dr. Luu and highly recommend her... she's been such a calming and expert presence for both our cats.

My dog, Peaches, was referred to SAGE by her veterinarian in Fresno after she began experiencing…read morebloody discharge from her vulva. Despite their best efforts, her veterinarian was unable to determine the cause because they didn't have the specialized equipment needed to perform an endoscopy and take a closer look. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment available at SAGE was a week away, which I completely understood given the demand for specialty care. In the meantime, Peaches needed immediate attention, so I took her to an emergency veterinary hospital in Fresno. There, they sedated her and discovered a foxtail deeply embedded in her vaginal wall. Although they removed it, they couldn't say with certainty that it was the sole cause of her symptoms and strongly recommended that we keep our appointment with the internist at SAGE. I'll admit that after reading some of the reviews online, I was worried that I might be pressured into unnecessary procedures or expensive treatments. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed. SAGE truly operates like a full-service hospital, with the equipment and specialists needed to address complex medical issues all under one roof. Most importantly, the care and professionalism we received were exceptional. Dr. Miller was absolutely amazing. He came into the room already familiar with Peaches' medical history and had clearly taken the time to thoroughly review her records before meeting us. That level of preparation immediately put me at ease. After examining Peaches, Dr. Miller explained that she appeared to be in very good health. He discussed the option of performing additional diagnostic procedures to investigate further and provided a detailed cost estimate. While the procedure was expensive, it was understandable given its complexity. What I appreciated most was his honesty. He told us that, based on her exam and improvement, he didn't feel additional procedures were necessary at that time. Instead, he recommended monitoring her closely and reassured us that if the bleeding returned, we could contact him directly and he would make himself available. His honesty, transparency, and genuine concern for Peaches meant so much to me. Rather than pushing unnecessary testing, he helped us make an informed decision that was truly in our dog's best interest. We also discussed some ongoing digestive issues Peaches has experienced over the years. Dr. Miller offered helpful recommendations, sent us home with food samples to try, and even offered to write a prescription should we decide to switch her diet. As pet parents, we all want veterinarians who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Dr. Miller and the entire team at SAGE exceeded my expectations in every way. I am incredibly grateful for the care they provided to my sweet Peaches. Thank you, Dr. Miller and the entire SAGE team!

* We rushed our dog to Sage Emergency in Dublin after he choked on a dental treat that got stuck…read more The X-rays showed that it was lodged at the junction between his esophagus and stomach. Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.

The day after we brought the kitten home, she developed diarrhea. I called to schedule an appointment, but they didn't have any "new pet" (one-hour) appointments available for over a week. I booked the earliest one, but asked if they could at least order a fecal test in the meantime. They said no. Instead, I was told to call the next morning to try for a same-day appointment, where a vet could then order the test. I called right at 7:30 am and was able to book a same-day 30-minute appointment for 10:30 am. Problem solved, or so I thought. Minutes later, they called back and canceled it. The reason: my kitten hadn't been seen before, so she required a one-hour appointment, which they didn't have available for a week!!! I explained that this was a stray kitten with active diarrhea and asked if she could at least be briefly seen, or if I could simply pay for a fecal test and treatment. They said that wasn't possible. Then they said they spoke to the vet, who would try to fit me in that same day but couldn't give a time. The vet had approved a 30-minute visit, so I rearranged my day and worked from home to wait for their call. At 10:23 am, they called back and told me they actually had no availability that day at all--and that I'd have to wait a week. Their only suggestion was to call again the next morning and try for another same-day appointment. At that point, it felt like a nightmare on repeat!

I trust her and appreciate her time and effort. My issue is with the administration. I requested vet records to submit to my insurance company. After four days, I asked again and was told they were waiting for doctor approval. After seven days, I was again told they were waiting for doctor approval. When I attempted to ask questions about the normal process and expected turnaround time for receiving records, I was told I could often get them the same day of service. I have now been told my request will be escalated and treated as a priority today. (Note: These aren't complicated records. My dog had two appointments that were pretty basic vet care.) Waiting for insurance reimbursement of thousands of dollar is frustrating enough, but a delay caused by failure to follow through by the admin staff is cause for a mediocre review instead of the 5 stars that Dr. Scearce deserved. If you don't plan on filing an insurance claim for your pet care, I can recommend Paws of Pleasanton. If you do plan to file an insurance claim, be prepared to wait for your records.
